PvP in Adventure Mode

  • I wonder if there is a way for the developers to alter how pvp is done in adventure mode. I don’t want it completely gone for those that do like it. However, when me and my one other friend that is with me in a sloop spends 30 minutes to an hour taking town a boss (like Old Horatio) or some other event, about half the time full crew (usually a galleon) shows up and takes everything we earned. I’m not so stingy that I would not share some of the loot, but it really takes the fun out of the game when you’ve spent all that time trying to achieve something and are left with nothing. My recommendation is to not be able to attack players and ships that are not flying the reaper flag. To make sure that they can’t back out of the fight once started, make it to where they cannot switch flags for about 10 to 30 minutes. Or a crew leader can select whether or not to sail as pvp before entering the adventure mode. If you are sailing as a pvp crew, you can only attack other pvp crews. If the developers would respond, we could work out some ideas. I’m not against having some pvp action, I would just prefer not to have to worry about it all the time if I’m not focused on that. The game already has a pvp mode, so I don’t see why some changes can’t be made for adventure mode since the stuff there is more about team vs npc and game monsters.

  • @deckhands Link em and lock em, please and thank you

  • I'm gonna start this off by saying that I'm with you. I know the feeling. But I'm also gonna warn you that you're gonna see a bunch of people on here giving you hell for saying you want PvP changed.

  • @eaglewolfu25
When Old Horatio (or others of his kind) is around, it's broadcasted on the server via a red tornado. Everybody knows there is loot to be found either after defeating him or after defeating the crew who did just that.

There are more things going on that are broadcasted (Flameheart fleet, Forts); if you don't like to run into other crews that like to take all or most of the loot, my advice would be to keep away from those events and/or keep an eye out for other crews trying to take their cut one way or another.

let me know what time you can get on the game and I can get you a haul to turn in if you want

all you need to do is join when I invite you and help me sell and you get all the gold and commendation credit

that applies to your friend too

  • This is literally removing pvp. They’re not going to remove PvP no matter how many people want it gone. It’s always been a PvPvE game and will always remain so.

  • takes everything we earned.

What did you earn tho...You were busy fighting and another pirate crew showed up. 2v4 Not bad odds but hey..still what did you lose that was earned?

really takes the fun out of the game when you’ve spent all that time trying to achieve something and are left with nothing.

experience and knowledge. Watch the seas and prepare for battle. Some good or bad pirates appear randomly.

You want Reaper flags to be just PvP? But thing is...Not all Reapers do pvp...Reaper faction is said to be blood thirsty pirates but...that depends on the pirate. Ive seen GH pirates do more damage because they want the booty.

  • All I can ya lad is, if you don’t particularly enjoy PvP action too much, don’t partake in clearing world events. Focus more on voyages or something. World Events are usually player activity hot spots due to them being high in value and being shown the the whole server.

  • Then there is no "Thieves" the game is just "Sea" or "Sea of Skeletons" if you desire. Why hold any loot whatsoever when you're running Reapers...?
World events are called so for a reason, they are available for the entire "world", or server, to interact with, whether it is hostility or alliances, that is for both crews to agree upon. A great deal of the game is based off of sneaking up on crews as best you can, being visible on the map at all times removes that entirely. The entire game is about fighting for your loot, and your loot isn't actually YOUR loot until you've cashed it in and got your gold/rep, it's free game. PvPvE is the main view of the game and stopping it in any way stops the game in a way. The PvP mode, Arena, was only added a year after the games release, and people dealt with PvP then, you can deal with PvP now.

Arena is not strictly a pvp mode.
New players should view the option as a combat training tool. You get paid for finishing matches, commendations and cosmetics.
You train in combat piloting, naval artillery, and pirate killing.
That training pays off in Adventure.

That is all the change you need.

  • Even when not doing world events, I still get people near constantly chasing me, even if I don’t have anything. It sucks even more if you are by yourself. Some people will sink your ship just for kicks, even if they don’t get anything else from it. I find the one against a full team a bit unfair as, in the end there is nothing I can do to defend myself against multiple assailants. @illbushido305

  • We beat him before the others showed up. The thing is, they came out of nowhere, despite me looking around. 2 v 4 is not a pleasant situation and neither is 1 v 4 which is what I mostly run into. I don’t do world events when solo, but still run into people who will sink you, even if they don’t get anything out of it. Not a fun time when outnumbered. @burnbacon

  • Find a crew in sot discord or forum, if numbers is your problem. But the game is fun in a state it is. PvP being part of it. Try arena to get better at that aspect. And if you despite PvP and don't want to take part of it or learn it, be always aware and don't hord stuff on your ship. And if chased just switch servers. But don't suggest that PvP should be just for a group of people that enjoy it. It should always be a threat for everyone.

  • Sorry sir, but PVP as a threat is a key foundation of the games design. To undermine it is to undermine the entire game.

There’s a reason that loot doesn’t immediately get deposited in an ethereal bank when you find it. It must be physically delivered. That’s to create a tension and the ability for it to be stolen.

If you don’t enjoy the risk. Or rather, can’t stand losing your loot. It may be the wrong game for you.

I suggest adopting the supervillain mentality. Once scorned, better yourself, hone your skills and return as the scourge of the Seas.

  • @eaglewolfu25 most people won’t know if there’s anything on your ship till they sink you. I’ve found that a decent portion of the time I can avoid combat just by keeping my eyes on the horizon

  • @eaglewolfu25 Ahoy me matey!

This subject has been put to bed (see the links below)
But thank you for your feedback :)

    Dropping anchor.
