Trident of Dark Tides Sensitivity not saving

  • Hello,
The title is pretty straightforward and sorry if it has already been said a thousand times, but I cannot manage to save my trident sensitivity. Each times I reload the game, it resets to 6.9 for mouse and 8.0 for controller (both on Steam and Microsoft Store versions), no matter if I set it during a game or in the main menu.
Thank you for reading and congratulations for this wonderful update ^^

You're actually the first one I see to comment on such issues, so it definitely hasn't been discussed a thousand times.

Makes me wonder if it's a personal thing too, because I tweaked mine from Day1 of Pirate's Life. So it either reset and I've just gotten used to it, or it's something individual for you.

If I don't forget, I'll test this out tonight and bring my feedback.

  • @nerelya

Just tested. It's working properly for me. Changed the value, Alt+F4, came back, it was still the same value.

Maybe just reinstall the game next time you go to work/out and see if that would fix it?

  • @greengrimz Oh ok thanks for testing it. I will try to reset my settings and if it does not work I'll reinstall the game as you said ^^

    Had any luck?

Usually it's good to drop feedback, even if you manage to fix your issue, so that others who have the same have a place to drop by and pick up a possible solution.

  • @greengrimz No, unfortunately it did not work, even after reinstalling the game. A friend of mine has the same bug (he plays on the Microsoft store version only). ^^'

This might sound a bit dull, and I'm mostly sure you've tried, but do you run the game as administrator? If yes, and still have this problem, then please read down below on what I managed to come up with for now.

Did you make sure the settings files were also deleted when reinstalling the game? They are situated outside the game folder.

    These are the paths:

    • For MS Store version
      %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.SeaofThieves_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Athena\Saved\Config\UWP64
    • For Steam version
      %LOCALAPPDATA%\Athena\Saved\Config\WindowsClient

If it were me, I would firstly try deleting this "Athena" folder and run the game to see what happens.

If that doesn't work I'd run Repair/Analysis. Alt+F4 while in-game then relaunch it. A windows prompt should pop and ask if you want to do a check.

If nothing, I'd reset the game: Apps and Features - Sea of Thieves - Advanced Options - Reset.

If still nothing, I'd uninstall the game, delete the "Athena" folder and install again.

Hope you manage to fix your issue, please drop your feedback when you move forward.

  • @greengrimz Unfortunately all your ideas did not work, but thanks a lot for trying to help.

Because of these fixes not working and because one of my friend also has this bug (and maybe more than one friend, but I did not ask them yet), I would say that this is probably just something due to the update and I hope it will be fixed soon. ^^
