Over the past time, appearances of undesirable behavior have started to become more and more apparent. People being extremely vulgar in chat, people cheating by either using modified game files, or third party programs, people actively sabotaging or killing their own crew, all forms of behavior that people don't want in their game.
Now the most obvious thing is just to report them, and case closed, right? No. Just like League of Legends, Sea of Thieves has no form of account progression, meaning that a termination or switch of accounts, results only in a loss of cosmetics. If you're caught for being obnoxious or malicious, a ban isn't a punishment to them, just a minor setback. Especially steam users are nearly invulnerable to it, since they can just create a new Xbox account and carry on from where they left off.
So, what is an idea to counter it?
Hit them where it hits hardest. Don't ban/block a trivial account they use to access sea of thieves, ban their ability to access sea of thieves. Make sure that the profile ID of whatever platform/software they use to open sea of thieves, is no longer allowed to connect to Sea of Thieves. IF they really want to play Sea of Thieves again so badly, they'll have to buy the entire game again on a new Steam/Microsoft Store account.
It is currently way too easy for banned players to return, with little to no repercussions at all. A ban needs to be a meaningful punishment against bad behavior, not a random gesture of having to stand in the corner for a while.
