Underwater/Atlantis Region and cool possible ways to access/stay in the Atlantis/underwater region

  • So eventually some sort of underwater region will probably be added to the game, obviously if its deep underwater, probably at the bottom of the ocean, we would need a way to breath, get to this new region, and get a new way to go from place to place.

The easiest thing Rare could do for breathing would be some sort of magic bubble around your head but that sounds really boring to me, my idea is that to breath in this region you need to go through some sort of merfolk transformation like the painting on discovery depicts. In order to get this transformation you would complete something along the lines of maiden voyage where its a little solo thing that anyone can do at anytime, I say it should be like this because Rare wouldn't want anyone to have an advantage like this transformation if not everyone did. in appearance the upper half of your player would be the same except for the skin would have a few scales and would be a shade of blue depending on how pale or dark your skin is, hair would probably be defaulted to a shade of blue as well but would be dyable, the lower half of your character would be the tale of a merfolk and would range in size based on your characters body type. While in this form you would swim faster, be able to sword lunge underwater, and strafe while blocking like you can on land I would prefer if the merfolk transformation can be activated anywhere on the seas but I would understand if people think it would be better to only allow it while in the underwater region.

To get to this underwater region it would probably at first be like the hungering deep where you have to track down the location of a megalodon except your tracking down the location of a magic whirlpool thing. The location of this whirlpool would eventually be added to the map for player convenience after like 2 weeks of it first being in the game. I'm thinking that to first activate this whirlpool you would have to drop some ritual items on the map square you discovered the whirlpool can be.

For transportation from underwater island to underwater island I'm really not sure on what would replace a ship yet but I'd love to hear ideas on what would be a cool way of transportation.

  • @aribalam well they are bound to end up adding another eventually, it would be quite boring without more world expansion. I have a idea to kind of fix that issue but I doubt rare would go for it. if they had separate servers for this underwater merfolk region with all the standard SoT regions just underwater and would have different underwater enemies. the only issue with this idea is that I doubt Rare would go for separate underwater servers.

  • @aribalam why did you delete your post? it was a valid flaw

  • @torinadoko I didn’t do anything

About having to add another region eventually, they’ll have to remove support for the original Xbox one first

  • @aribalam since I made this thread I see your post grayed out saying "This post is deleted!"

  • @torinadoko that’s weird, it’s actually the 2nd time that’s happened to me

  • @aribalam that is so weird, what do you think of the whole merfolk transformation idea though? I'm interested in peoples opinions on the idea.

  • @torinadoko It would be cool being able to explore something like Atlantis is Sea of Thieves. I think I remember falcone saying in one of his videos that some of the merfolk are actually people transformed because they were lost to the sea or something

  • @aribalam yeah, there are paintings of the transformation process on discovery ridge that show different stages of the transformation. The issue is that apparently humans turned into merfolk eventually turn into evil Sirens. They could make lore to get around this whole evil siren thing though, like there are different rituals for merfolk transformations, some turn ya into sirens and others just turn ya into normal merfolk.
