I do not know how to construct the topic but I will try my best and I feel like posting this topic will not get any intention towards the subject or any fixes or reactions, but I will give it a shot, at least I will feel stratified that I at least have done something.
I love this game, I remember when I was a child I was dreaming of a game where I'm a pirate, sailing a ship and shooting other pirates with cannons and take whatever they have. To me this game is a dream coming to life as I'm playing it.
My gameplay:
My Experience in this game is been frustrating to the point where I get triggered and emotional for the simple reason of 9/10 of ships in this game are running away from a fight no matter if they have loot or not, I have loot or not, and whatever they are doing or I'm doing they just run, run and run, which leads into a very long chasing spree that takes approximately 2-3 hours to catch and many times after sinking them all they have is a simple loot or sometimes nothing at all.
I'm not here to complain or share my bad experience in this game only, I came out with few suggestions to help improve the willingness of these cowards to fight.
Suggestion #1 (front cannon):
I know its a ridiculous suggestion before I wrote it but, realistically and historically speaking front cannons were used in real life even in the 18th century and were used to chain shot fleeing ships, so why not?
suggestion #2 (A special emblem or reward for sinking a ship)
A special type of loot that emerges after sinking a ship (Sort of like an emissary flag when you sink an emissary ship) which later you can sell it to the reapers for example:
1- A captains mark.
2- A ship's mark.
3- Stealing the ship's skin after sinking it (But lose it when you exit the game)
Put commendations for it as well so players will feel that they achieved something after sinking a ship even if it doesn't have any loot.
Suggestion #3 (Speed and maneuverability buff)
This is a simple one. give a simple 10% speed to a ship with a reapers flag but only when you are behind a ship and only when your reapers emissary flag is level 5 (as if you are hunting them) so players won't exploit it.
Suggestion #4 (Commendations for fighting back a ship)
This one is simple also you just get a commendation if a player ship shoots you first and you fight back and sink it so you get a special commendation for defending your ship instead of running like a coward which 90% of players in this game are, sadly.
I know that some people will say if you want to fight you should go to arena.
Arena has the point system which I think can be revised and improved because all I experience is ships farming ships by shooting them as much as they can without sinking them (This is not arena is about lol) and once they have enough points they just keep avoiding fights until the timer ends, but I will not go into too much into it because arena is not my concern although it needs some fixing and changing.
In conclusion,
I urge players in this game to play this game as it was intended to be right? Sea of thieves and you are a pirate. so what are you waiting for? fight! sink ships! take loot! you are a pirate! even if you are beaten and lose your loot, losing loot is a part of the game you need to experience and respect, I've lost many fights myself and won many.
I also urge game developers to listen to me and other players and implement what other players want. I simply want to shoot my cannons to other player ship because 95% of my game experience is chasing, chasing, chasing and more chasing until the fleeing decides to go to the red sea and beyond to bug their ship and the ship disappears with the loot.
I pulled out emotions and my heart to this thread, and this is only I love this game this much to do it.
