Saving of ship loadout upon exit

  • Could it be possible to add an option to save the ships loadout, say you have spent 8hours playing and your ship is fully loaded with supplies of cannonballs, bananas and planks, you disconnect to rest and you'll lose all those resources you've collected, by having an option to save those resources you could then come back to your ship as it was when you left. Though obviously, you would want to avoid it being abused so perhaps make it so you can't get the ship back (in its saved and resourced form) if it gets sunk. I think scuttling is okay unless you were in close proximity to another ship (I.E in PVP combat) this way it would stop people suddenly returning to battle with a new ship fully equipped. Food for thought if nothing else.

  • Nope... Nope.... Nope. it's an MP game not a SP game :)

That whould be exploited way to easy/much (current spawnrate of the CCB's, anyone?)

The reason you "lose" all is because everyone in the game is equal (does the same damage / has the same HP etc).

This is done to keep the game fair (besides the skill difference between players/crews).

  • @nessiroj I see your point althoug I dont feel it would be more unfair than the whole singleplayer experience. I really like that weapons only differ in skins not in damage or so, BUT I don't think storing ~50-100 bananas should be considere unfair. I dont think it would be good for the game if you could stack/save endless amounts but I gotta admit, that its quite annoying when you farmed for 2hours+, the game crashes/you prepare food and are disconnected due to inactivity on return and all the 'progress' you worked for is gone.

My GF for example only plays the game for the sake of gathering materials (bananas/planks/cannonballs) which would be nothing for me personally but I understand that its kinda sad that you have no possibility to save anything at all. And even though she does it for the sake of gathering, its more rewarding/replayable in games like WoW/Minecraft/Others since you simply can visualize your progress by looking into your bank even though you might never use it.

To finish with the term 'fair'. I dont think this game is very fair at all (especially when played solo as stated above), but I also dont think that it has to. For me I get very annoyed when I get wrecked over and over again by galleons with the alliance flag up and all my chickens/chests get stolen, and I get spawncamped until I scuttle my ship just to get another quest and again get ganked by seemingly ANY other ship at the outposts. Good thing money is only for visuals otherwise it would be impossible to progress as a solo player.
No I dont say they should change it, just wanted to give some perspective on things being fair, as a Sloop simply cannot escape a galleon crew which is working together especially once the first 'anchor-cannonball' hits. Also I get that this game is 'meant' to be played for the joy of playing itself, nonetheless it feels very frustrating when you play for ~3hours, you got lucky and the game didnt crash and you finally want to find out whether fully stocked banana crates are worth more than ones with 2/50 and hand in your 'hard earned' chests, just to get ripped off whenever you get near an outpost with another ship nearby.

As a mulitplayer example: Would you consider it fair, that after checking in with half a dozen open crews who are just finishing up as you join, once you finally find 2 other dudes that plan on staying for more than 5mins in the game, that some guy (in my very case) named XWreckThemAllX spawns just to troll his teammates and get stuck the ship in between rocks and does other stuff just to heck with the crew? Doesn't seem very fair to me.
Again I dont mean that should be changed since I dunno if maybe 90% of the playerbase actually are premade crews but I doubt it to say the least.

  • just no. login resupply or dont resupply set sail jobs a goodn. this is not a good idea for a MP game

  • @w01fchi1d Have you played any MP game beside Sea of Thieves?? Doesnt appear like it

  • @mcanus66 I meant not a good idea for THIS MP game... not all games. just this one.. the one we're currently talkin about on the forum belonging to the mp game in question...

  • @mcanus66 i hadnt actually read ur post but have now... boy thats a lot of crying. if theres a boat at the outpost and you dont trust it go with your gut and dont approach unless your willing to fight and potentially lose. as for galleons downing ur sloop just sail them into the wind and stand on the back waving goodbye as they disappear into the distance.
the game is generally an even battlefield for everyone 1st joining in... if someone joined in with an already stocked ship it wouldnt be very even now would it. i wouldnt be happy about it. just get in n go, dont spend hours stocking ur ship do it en route.
if ur no good at solo... dont solo.

  • I think stuff should save when you leave but you can’t leave when music play for a battle. Such as when fighting a Meg, kraken, or ship. Doing this should make it so players could not leave to save there loot. Also when you sink the stuff in barrels and such shouldn’t save.

  • I average 400 of each type of basic supplies, and about 30-50 CCBs, by the time I'm done voyaging. If I could carry that over each session, I would no longer be a pirate...

    ...I would be...

    UNSTOPPABLE!

  • @galactic-geek I get that but the system could change to where items would stack differently depending on how powerful it is and not stack up to 99things per slot

  • The fact that this thread is 2 years old should tell you how unlikely it is that you will ever be able to save your ship supplies between sessions.

  • But yes I do agree that we could get like millions of things and be unstoppable

  • @d3adst1ck ya I Know but but so far this is the earliest one I could find
