Saving Outfits + Weapon skins

  • This has definitely been said before, but obviously hasn't been put out there enough since it's not in the game...But there should 100% be a way to save specific costumes and weapon skins so you can switch to the way you want easily. It makes 0 sense that this isn't in the game, when the only thing you can spend your currency on is cosmetic. I want to be able to run a firey look with my fire weapons, and then go check all my saved costumes and switch to something more spooky, like the new fate of the damned set that's coming out. Having to search through your inventory of all your random clothing pieces and weapons every single time you want a new set is unnecessary.

Or maybe Rare has already made a decision regarding this matter? If they haven't implemented it by now, it means that either they're not going to do it, or it's not a high priority for them. In any case, since they haven't said that it's the latter either, my bet's on the former.

In other words, your redundant request is essentially going into the void.

Furthermore, the times it takes to change cosmetics actually does serve 2 purposes:

    1. It makes the Sea feel more lived in.
    2. It distracts you from other tasks, creating an opportunity for a potential attack.

Besides, can you get dressed in the morning at the press of a button? I know I can't! It'd be nice, to be sure, but we're not living the Jetsons lifestyle yet.

  • @galactic-geek Yes! and after I get dressed in the morning im gonna go kill a giant squid or fire myself out of a cannon. hell why not glide along the ocean like a skipping rock?
in seriousness it would be nice to be able to save designs not only to save time but remember the outfits we've made. something as futile as changing your outfit is not and never has been taken into consideration for pvp unlike the fast swim with an item they should keep in the game but I digress. its a quality of life thing they they have been prioritizing recently like with the newest update.
other than that they only way rare will push this higher on the priority list is if they see people want the feature. it very well is going into the void but one can believe right?

If you can't remember the outfits that you've made, then that's a personal memory problem, not a problem with the game.

And yes, I know the game doesn't follow realism, but it does follow gameplay balance, sense, and lore.

Fast swim and other exploits like it should be removed from the game, IMO, and they likely will be, but Rare has already made the decision that it's not currently a high priority.

They already know we want the feature, since we've been asking for it for years. Hope is good, but you should also temper it with realistic expectations.

  • @galactic-geek Of course IRL you can't change into an outfit with a press of a button, that's not what I'm talking about here. For example in GTA Online you can do that, set outfits for whatever mood or activity your doing. And for Sea of Thieves, a game where you can only purchase cosmetics, it's insane that this isn't implemented.

I totally understand that it may not be their top priority…But this is why I made a post in the "Feedback + Suggestions" forum.

Wanting to switch to a different outfit and having to spend 5 minutes each time finding every single little piece in a giant clump of cosmetics is such a pain, when having a system where you can switch outfits on the spot is a perfect addition to this game. This is solely a QOL change I would like, and hoping me posting it here would raise the chances of it being added since so many people want it. There is no "gameplay balance" associated with this at all, it's cosmetics!

  • @ursling It takes you 5 minutes!?

It shouldn't take you more than 30 seconds... If you don't know where your own stuff is, well, then that's a you problem.

  • I just want the ability to favourite weapon cosmetics instead of having to go through the multiple pages and wait for the preview images to load.

  • @galactic-geek realism is good in places that deserve it. being able to save cosmetic sets for ships, cloths, or anything else is not a realism breaking mechanic. it also saves time for you when this game is already a big time sink. never has an important battle been lost or won because you were changing an outfit. you do that at the start or end of your session usually. when nobody is around.
im not saying it should be a high priority but its something that benefits everyone is some small fashion. like slimline banners. those took forever to be added when it was a very long asked for thing. if nobody said anything about it they would never add it.
all this is is a mild time saver that adds to the quality of life of the game. there is no detrimental downside to this.
also, I have like five outfits to remember which isnt a lot but i would like to make more and im not fond of having to remember 10+ outfits every time i feel like i want to change it up a bit. and the same goes for ship sets. i like to try and get creative with cosmetics sometimes because what else are they good for? this would allow that to flourish even more.
again this is no high priority but reminding the community this is a possible feature we can have is the best way to get it added one day.

This isn't true. I myself told my crew that I was going to change up my appearance, mid-voyage, and in the time it took to do that we came under surprise attack and were subsequently and soundly beaten - and all because we had 1 less pirate's eyes on the lookout.

  • @galactic-geek The fact that you were changing cosmetics is not what got you sunk, it's the fact that your crew wasn't keeping look out. Especially when a man down, that's just a bit stupid honestly.

  • I would be all right with this if it switching to another set of clothing still takes some more time than just two clicks - don't want a sailor turn into a tucker under a second :).

  • @mferr11 2 of my crew were on the far side of the island, I was below deck changing clothes, and our watchman came below deck briefly to see what I had pit on because I had a caked him to.

I know exactly whose fault it was and why.

are you saying it was the clothing's fault?
A: dont change if your not confident in your ships security
B: dont change if your crew is as useless as you've stated.
C: your still on the ship with your crew. how could you not just exit the chest and fight? if you had a ship roll up on you, board you, and kill your crew before you had the chance to know they were there. thats on you and your crew.
D: this is a very specific and circumstantial happening. this is no game breaking PVP exploit or tactic. you and your crew were merely oblivious to your surroundings.
E: hell with the ability to save outfits you and your crew can be confidently lackadaisical with your ability to see a ship rolling up on you.

you said you sank bc you were a man down bc you were changing. if it takes 30 seconds then why did you sink? it takes a lot longer to sink an AFK ship with cannons than 30 seconds let alone a ship with one man mildly unaware of the horizon.
your still talking to your crew. they can let you know hey there is a ship coming finish up there.
you cant say youve sunk bc you were changing while also saying it takes 30 seconds to do so.

  • @gunner646 I wasn't just switching to another outfit - I was experimenting, which takes a lot longer. And this crew was incredibly competent. However, regardless of a crews' skill, there will always be 2 inescapable factors:

    1. Everybody makes mistakes, and
    2. There's always a bigger fish.
