I think you should add an in game friend system since it is cross-platform so if some one is playing on pc and another person is playing on Xbox they can friend each other and invite each other to their game.

@mrshoop101 Hello, I am not sure I understand .. there already is a friend system in game. You can befriend anyone using xbox game bar (on PC) or by Make Friends Salute emote. You can then invite your friends directly in game to join your crew (or via xbox game bar again).
@mrshoop101 you can link your steam and xbox account (make one easily if you don't have one yet). On Win10 press Win+G to open the overlay where you can search for friends and invite them to your session!
@johncourtier what I mean is before you set sail it gives you the option to invite friends. So with the in-game friend system you can invite someone who plays on pc, Xbox, ps4 (if you can get it on ps4)
@mrshoop101 you can invite anyone (pc, xbox) even mid game using the previously mentioned xbox game bar. Is fully supports cross platform play and also contact list.

That same system (Invite friends) works when you're playing - go to the menu (on PC "Esc") and choose My Crew and select (on PC "1") Invite Friends - it's at the bottom of the screen.
