why is everyone calling people bots now?

    I get it is meant to be an insult suggesting the person is so bad they might as well be an AI, but where did it come from. don't get me wrong trash talking is fun but I think it is weird everyone is using the same generic insult. if you are going to insult me try and be creative.

    Whether you're a kid at recess or an adult playing a video game insults and mob mentality are often effective but very rarely creative.

    I take it as a compliment. Maybe they think I'm so smart I'm a computer. It's even better when they are the ones sinking calling you that

    Bot to me has always been predictive, repetitive, and unthinking. Its nothing AI related, it is more of an insult to players associating them to mobs or companions in games. It isn't uncommon to have quite brainless allies in single player games. Trending names isn't really that uncommon, this just so happens to be a most recent one. Noob has fallen out of favor a bit, so this may be the recent version of it.

    I've been called worse. I honestly don't think twice about it and just let it roll right off because I know that everyone talks tough when they are behind a keyboard or headset.

    That's my way of dealing with hit, but I know not everyone is the same.
