The kraken is just an annoying, dragged out fight. It needs to be harder and everyone knows it needs a body. It's so annoying to have to find the loot that's scattered around but a body all the loot could just drop from the body. It needs some flash because it just sinks back into the sea after you finally beat it.

I'd prefer for it to not have a body actually, as once we bring a body into play the scale of the beast becomes completely defined. I think it will lose something if that is the case.
It being made a bit harder I could get behind. And I can also get behind having the loot drop be more at the end of the battle and in one spot rather than a few items here and there as tentacles get taken out as it does make acquiring the loot from the battle a lot harder than it needs to be (I'd even argue it is the hardest part about the fight right now).
But, I'm firmly against the idea of adding the body personally.
@redeyesith I just thought a body would add some flash to it and a help with loot dropping and a good death scene or somethin like that
@odessadreamin Im sure we'll see the kraken's body one day, i dont think that we kill it when we defeat and only scare it off.
I know that the Old mother is dead but what if at some point she will be revived and will have phases like the Ashen lords, at some point the body will come out in the fight.@faceyourdemon I know but maybe like a scene were it shrieks and flees back into the ocean? FYI what is the Old mother?

i'd have to guess the old mother is a bigger meaner kraken that was killed which is the mother to the current kraken
to anyone who knows please correct me this is just a guess formed out of meaning and context of disussions
@odessadreamin I'd like to fight the kraken on an island, very few island would actually work but Smugglers Bay, Cresent Isle, Thieves Haven, Shipwreck Bay and Krakens Fall would as the have a large body of water inside/next to the island.
I was thinking about making a concet post for this but still unsure about the how's and why's.@odessadreamin The Old Mother was a larger Kraken who gave birth to the krakens that we see now.
One day Ramsey the pirate lord had a plan with the merefolk to build special chains that cant break and during her long sleeping periods theyve chained her so she will starve.@fall3nsnip3r340 I prefer to think that's not what they actually look like, but there's so much evidence to suggest the contrary.
Eh, it's just easy on the Sloop imo. Not like it's a challange on the Brig/Galleon but it actually requires some time to kill it.
Having a full rework of the Kraken would be neat however, i rather see the encounter as a Meg. A moving thing that follows you instead of being a RNG thing that ruins PvP encounters due to the slow/stun.
If the Kraken is annoying currently for you, if the devs make it harder, all that usually means is that it will take more damage and smack the ship more. Besides doing what others stated where you can fight it on an island or it follows you, I dont see how they would make the Kraken harder without dragging the fights out longer, which would just make fighting it even more annoying.
@elderterdkin I just meant for a better challenge because then if it was more of a challenge there'd be more to it cuz right now the fight is kinda boring ya know?
@odessadreamin Rare should add an easter egg and you can find the Old Mother's carcass somewhere down really far into the water
@odessadreamin go to Flintlock Peninsula, explore the cave there and you'll find a huge kraken skeleton, some speculate that this is the remains of the old mother.

@lorenz-sinclair Story can progress, Flameheart might think about a way to bring a menacing creature to change the tides and maybe others.

The old mother is the mother of all kraken that inhabit the Sea of Thieves. She was captured by the ancients and chained in a cave so she could not give birth to any more kraken. They did this using chains made of the same metal the pirate lord used for his skeleton keys (keys that the gold hoarders use now). This metal would not decay and keep her restrained and she died likely of starvation. The Old Mother can be visited in the cave located on the west portion of Flintlock Peninsula.
@lorenz-sinclair Simply because its still not working lorewise, we are still fighting off his hoards and ive already said it might be someone else many characters have ill intent and desire to control the Sea of Thieves.
Maybe its the PvE war mongers who will unleash the Kraken upon us.

Lol uhhhh no? I mean kraken is by far the hardest event that shows up compared tot he rest when playing on a galleon. Not to mention you can't even escape it easily like the meg or skelly ships
Dude all it does is smack your ship around a bit or sucks you up and spits you out, and it's easy to beat the tentacles because ya just blast em with cannonballs and they die, how is that hard?
@flintlock-dan Yeah I beat one and I only got 1 villainous skull ( or at least we could only find one villainous skull) and by the time we actually found it it was already sinking and I couldn't get there in time, which is one of the reasons I wanted it to have a body so the loot can drop from one place. But when I first started playing I was expecting to beat the kraken and be overwhelmed which giant pools of treasure, I was proven 100% wrong lol
@odessadreamin Well my main point is it definitely has some faults that need fixed, LIKE THE LACK OF TREASURE
The Kraken is meant to be a legendary beast, feared by all who sail on the seas. What does it do? Slap your ship and scream. It's such a non-threat. It should be a much harder, much rarer, and much more rewarding boss fight. Let it snap the masts, make it slap the ship and grab it much more often, give it more spectacle, make it something really special. I also think it could use much more dramatic music. Right now it just feels kinda boring.

Maybe by the pirates themselves in order to beat the Grand Maritime Union for when they come to the SoT (if it ever happens) ?
If that sounds familiar, that's actually an idea taken from Pirates of the Caribbean 3 where they free Calypso in the hope that she will help them in the final fight (and she kinda didn't help anyone to be fair, wich is a shame)
