I love cooking in SOT.
Its a great addition, but did you know you can cook by making a campfire on the beaches and outposts?
Well they are no different to the ship stove, at the cost of 1 wood to get it going.
Cooking at a beach fire gives your presence away through smoke but it offers no benefits that are different to the portable and more secure ship stove.
I think given the open fire and smoke, food should be smoked.
As a benefit they cook slightly slower than a ship stove but provide more nutritional health and hp regen. They also have the name ‘Smoked’ at the front which fetches a little more coin off hunters faction. For example Smoked Stormfish, Smoked Megalodon meat,
This means fishermen who are cooking lots of fish in one go would opt to do this by beach fire for better value cooking and bigger regen (if eating) and benefit from more value for selling at the risk of being exposed into travelling to seaposts to sell it like any other loot.
As outposts are the only place you can cook without skeletons spawning, it means likely this will happen at outposts often, which as you know can be areas of potential player conflict, especially plunder outpost with that giant ship-hiding mountain.
The ships stove provides faster cooking at the cost of having food not as hp regen efficient and not sell for as much. But more portable and more convenient. Likely i could see people doing both depending on their mood.
Would be nice to have them slightly different.
Otherwise, whats the point spending the plank resource to build the fire if your ship is nearby?
