Stealing voyage notes!

  • Okay so read before disagree!

Let's say you're sneaking on a galleon! One guy is 'watching' the ship. You climb the ladder and slip into the captain quarters! You see a voyage down on the captains table. IT'S AN ATHENA VOYAGE!

Now normally you would tuck, wait for ages for them to go island to island.. But let's imagine you could pick the lock of the captains table! It would take 30-60 seconds and would give you a journal contains all the ships information and quest voyages! Brillaint! You now sneak back to your ship and start digging up their treasure! We are pirates after all.

The same could work with pick pocketing AFK players who idle on their ship, or sit on the helm without checking behind them. It could take once again between 30-60 seconds for you to pickpocket the players but you could get a piece of the journal, if not all of it!

What do you guys think? Obviously there would need to be a long period of time for you to pick the lock or pick pocket the person. The times are just a sugestion.

  • BUMP UP THE VOLUME... and the post!

  • @diddlydunkers I definitely think that they're should be more to sneaking onto a ship than just hiding. I've always liked the idea of 'stealing' someone's voyage, and I think this could work with a few adjustments and fine tuning.

  • My goodness!

I was also pondering this feature a few days ago, after watching a very well made video by Welyn performing an Athena heist. I think it's a great idea! Talking about it with a more experienced pirate, though, and he was a little skeptical. He asked what would happen in the event of the original crew canceling the quest? Does it despawn the loot?

I fly mostly the reaper's emissary and we were discussing features that would encourage PvP in that context.

...and this here is precisely why it wouldn't work.

  • @galactic-geek Why is that an issue? Once you've stolen their map, you've stolen it. It shouldn't matter if they cancel, you already have the voyage in your inventory.

  • I think it’s a solid idea. Difficult to implement, but a great concept!

  • @diddlydunkers This is a really cool idea, but in my opinion it should be 5 seconds to loot a player and maybe u could get 1 of their food for each time u pickpocket. But the idea of picking the lock of the voyage and seeing all of their islands would be amazing!

  • @galactic-geek Actually it could be placed on your captains tables alongside any other voyages you have, just like a tall tale. It would be a great way to prevent crews from losing parcially completed quests by crews who quit mid-way or scuttle out the game.

  • Thank you for your responses everyone! Let's keep bumping this post to get some dev eyes on this idea!

Bumping isn't allowed, so don't ask. Actual contributions to the discussion though? Those are fine. 😉

  • @galactic-geek excellent contribution and incredibly insightful.

  • i am curious for the day there is only PvPers left in the game, then they tuck for ages and nobody finds nobody anymore XD

I dislike te idea, because it's to PvP focussed.
We need not further split people into PvE and PvP groups, but have more stuff that knits both aspects together.

People who go solely for PvP harm the community the same way as PvE Server players do.

PvP is an important aspect, but it's not the main aspect.
The Main thing is still doing PvE and occasionally PvP when ther eis the opportunity or the need to defend yourself or when you fight for an Event or Encounter and it's loot.

To go solely for tucking and robbery or more bad for killing and sinking for the sake of it only creates a bad game experience for everyone who is playing "normal".

Incredibly poor form dude.. You'll not make many friends like that outside of nursery school.

  • @bugaboo-bill Ahaha funny you should say that! I saw 4 people tucking on an empty fort of the damned just last week.

I believe something needs to be done about server hoping. If the servers had more ships there would be less server hoppers.

This is an entirely different topic though.

    Thanks for your insight.

  • @diddlydunkers severhopping is cheesing the game!

There are very less players who play SoT, most game the system, because that is what is fun to them.
To me it's not - i'm just like a bilge rat, i dont care for gold, titles, reputation etc...
I anyway have enough of all of it and some of the rarest titles and cosmetics ingame.

  • @wagstr Just playing in a sand box mate. Cheers for the..
