We should be able to find empty barrels and use them as disguise

    Im editing a video and I decided to put MGS alert soundtrack when the enemy crew found out I was on board, its hilarious, but then it dawned on me. I needed a disguise, just like the box on MGS. Such a fun and great mechanic that we dont see on many other games, its like a symbol of how hilarious a game can be sometimes. For those who dont know, in the Metal Gear games you can pull out a cardboard box to hide, and you can walk around with it. If you stand still and dont look too obvious the enemy might not notice you, its a really fun mechanic.
    Now, inside some ships we have some barrels that dont really have any use, what if we could pick up barrels that were left on some beach or maybe floating with the supply barrels and use it as disguise. When youre wearing it your view gets limited to a small hole, but you can peak from the top to see that the other crews are doing. When you move, your legs show up from the bottom but when you stand still, its just another perfect camouflaged barrel inside the ship.

    Maybe even use them on some stealthy Tall Tale?

    Im pretty sure this idea has been discussed before, but I would love to have it. Sometimes hiding is not enough, this would be next level.

    @dutrah It would be completely OP against virtually everyone except for the seasoned veterans that have memorized every single barrel location (like I have) - against them, you might as well replace your barrel with a tombstone.

    @galactic-geek Just because it wouldnt work for you doenst mean it wouldnt be fun for other people. People still hide in corners clipping inside ships, inside treasure chests and thats way more OP. And its live in the game, you see people do it all the time on Twitch. You can already hide in the game, its nothing new, this would be just another mechanic that would either work or not.

    I chuckled aloud just reading your description. This would add a lot of laughs to the game and I'm 100% for it.

    @dutrah That's the thing though - you can't just add a mechanic just because it might work nor not. It HAS to work, and must also be relatively balanced within the overall picture - as far as I can tell it's not balanced at all. It's either too OP or too pointless depending on the ship you're hiding from. There really isn't an in-between.

    It's the same reason we can't bury our loot - it's a very pirate thing to do, but it can be a bit too OP, and takes too much time to do - especially considering that you can technically already do it by simply hiding it behind a rock or in a bush or something.

    That actually leads me to my next question - if you can technically already do it as you described, why bother asking the devs to waste time making it look nicer when there are so many more important things to deal with right now?

    @galactic-geek Wow man, sorry for making suggestions at the suggestion forum. A game forum. Since you already tested the non-existant mechanic and said it is OP because you know every inch of the game and realized it wont work, I guess this thread can be closed.

    I personally think this is a great idea. There is no way to 100% memorize every single barrel in the game. Plus with this mechanic they might be able to allow us to move regular barrels around. At that point players can rearrange their ship barrels in any order they like. Then memory serves you far less when boarding a vessel. Even if they don't allow us to move all barrels these hiding barrels could be used on islands! It's not uncommon to find chests on islands. With these special barrels players could set up there own traps for unsuspecting pirates!

    @worg3ndeath There's plenty of bushes that are already on islands and that are easy enough to hide in using emotes - use those.

    I love the cardboard box in MSG. I remember back in the day the two disc MSG for playstation was my jam. Still to me is one of the best games ever made. So many guards I snuck by with that box. Oooo and the smoking cigs for the inferred lasers was fun too.

    I wouldnt mind this being added.

    @galactic-geek Its not the same. Since it can already be done to a certain level how would it be to overpowered? You can shoot from bushes, but when inside a barrel you done have enough room to draw a weapon. Plus a barrel is far more noticeable then someone laying down in a bush at times. Barrels would be a nice addition. I can imagine a galleon being manned by a bunch of players running around in barrels. I would die laughing seeing them run around the deck then hop out to adjust the sails.
