LET ME BUY BAIT

  • Digging for worms, leeches, or grubs is a tedious part that turns me off from fishing. Could we please get the ability to purchase a bait crate or something from outposts? One of the outpost salesmen talks about eating bait constantly. Please.

  • Eyyy there plenty in regular loot barrels. They tend to crawl near the bottom though, easy to miss.

  • @forsaken-ghoul This would also give older and more experienced players an advantage, which the devs avoid.

  • Dig them or...Barrels.
Seaposts tend to have just those.

  • Fishing in of itself is quite tedious.

Send me to fight pirates, skeletons, megalodons, ghosts, and krakens, but heaven help me if I have to dig up bait! I might get my hands dirty! 😅

  • @forsaken-ghoul Unnecessary. Bait is easy enough to find. Look in barrels also. Who even cares about hunters call anyways lol?

  • You dont need bait...

Really? I feel you are clutching at straws there mate sorry.

It's fishing, not pvp or anything remotely competitive.

Cashing in one chest would likely fund your bait for a long time if its merely a few coins a worm.

Yeah mate I don't think it would.

  • Agree... In fact, let me buy bait, supplies and loot so I won't need to actually... you know... play the game...

  • @daringclarky Even if it is a small advantage, it is nevertheless an advantage.

  • @daringclarky Also, how dang hard is it to dig up some worms or loot an outpost to get a bunch of bait??? people shouldn't be so lazy.

  • would like to see bait spawn rates increased, at the very least.

True. I usually have tons of them and I don't even want them

I don't think it would matter much at all though especially if it's like 4 coins for a worm or something.

But digging them is just as easy I agree.

  • I'm surprised there's so much debate around this one. Let the man buy some bait haha! A single bait shop on an island somewhere sounds like a fun addition to the world (even if I would never use it). Maybe the proprietor sells "specialty" or "magic" grubs outside of what you find in barrels?

    I'm into it, @Forsaken-Ghoul.

  • @dominusocto7
What in the world are you on about? Duke sells ashen chests and keys for doubloons. That's a bigger 'advantage' the having the outposts sell me a 'bait crate' for similar. Wanting to sit down and fish shouldn't require digging in various patches for 20 minutes just so you can get an ample supply of earthworms.

  • @burnbacon One or two in barrels yes. Better chance of it not being there, or not being the type you need. You have to go to an Island and dig for an extended period of time for a reason I can't fathom. especially when each of the hunrter's call merchants are often fishing themselves.

  • @galactic-geek It gets old after digging for 20 minutes to get an ample supply of bait just to be sunk by a passing reaper.

@JCTC758 It's a QOL change to get a good supply in exchange for some gold. Not that gold has much use right now anyway. If you don't care about it, why are you against making it easier for those who do?

@TempZeus You do if you want to catch anything that isn't a pondie, splashtail, or Isle hopper

@Guilleont I invite you to look into Duke's inventory where he sells ashen chests and keys. This is just for a pile of bait, quit being melodramatic, you aren't losing any'gameplay experience' from cutting out 20 minutes of digging up sand or dirt.

  • @forsaken-ghoul Took me about 3 minutes to get 10 leeches at the water's edge of an island...

  • @forsaken-ghoul Oh Kraken Lord!! If you spent 20 minutes digging bait... you are doing something wrong. I've never been told about the bait hoarder crews.

  • @galactic-geek Yes. And if you're after the commendations you need 210 of every fish. So lets say you want to do it in batches of 30, okay? And lets assume you never lose a bait to a splashtail because your attention was elsewhere while waiting for a bite. Lets Also assume you never catch a duplicate, and never once lose a single peice of bait because your boat was sunk by any means. Let's also assume you can find a shipwreck, storm, and fort within your area and remove travel times. Just getting the bait for the 7 baited fish would take 24.5 hours. That's in a perfect world where you never lose a single worm, grub, or leech. I know how to find the bait. I do. It's time consuming and could be solved with the simple addition of buying a bait crate from the hunter's call. That's my point.

  • @forsaken-ghoul The point that you've made is that you're grinding. Don't. Take your time and enjoy the game! I myself have yet to catch the Shadow Stormfish and really, really want that kraken fishing rod, but I don't go calling for change. I just take the opportunity every time I'm passing through a storm. As long as you continue playing, all good things will come in good time.

  • @galactic-geek With your logic, the emissary system should be removed. The systems are built around, and for, grinding a specific faction. I'm not calling for 'change' I'm calling for the addition of bait from seaposts. This would not remove the bait from barrels and the ground. Not everyone wants to do one piece of treasure at a time.

  • @forsaken-ghoul You can get a full inventory of bait in a minute just by looking for them in outpost barrels.

  • @forsaken-ghoul The reason why people don't want this is because you would have an infinite amount of bait, also making it suck for newer players who have to work way harder because they don't have money. you have to work for everything in this game, so get off your lazy butt and just dig up some grubs.

  • @dominusocto7 As stated above, I want to catch many fish in a batch. I don't want to get 10 worms catch 8-10 fish (Depending on how fast a splashtail spawns to steal bait) deliver them, and search for more. I want a large quantity I can sit and fish with.

  • @forsaken-ghoul Then just dig up bait for ten minutes. It isn't that hard.

  • @dominusocto7 Is there any particular reason it couldn't be sold in bundles from a sea outpost? It wouldn't be hard.

  • @forsaken-ghoul I said it in an earlier post.

The emmisary system was built around incentivizing the holding of loot for longer to get a bigger payout at bigger risk and facilitating more positive and negative social interactions between players. It also addressed the ongoing issue of some players requesting more legitimate PvP (with the newly-added RB company) as well as the constant requests for a bounty system. They were killing 3 birds with 1 cannonball.

So sit at the seapost while you fish; the barrels reset every 24 minutes, so by the time you collect the bait, catch 10 fish, cook them, and then turn them in, fresh bait will be waiting for you.

  • I've got all the Hunter's call commendations... Just saying.

  • It's pretty clear OP is an actual fisherman and most that replied, aren't.

YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD, HOMIE!

It is a major pain in the booty to dig for leeches especially.
It's obvious to me that while gameplay is intended to take time, people do play with an agenda and a limited timeframe. Rare has recognized this and has been taking steps towards catering to that audience.
(I do also have to say how strange it is that so many suggestions get shot down, and so much feedback picked barren by regulars in these forums. A damn shame.)

Asking for one more little gold sink for a side-gig of a faction, that doesn't break endgame, really isn't too much to ask. Put a limited amount of each bait on a timer per in game day at whatever location instead of a crate, for all I care. I use Storage Crates, most of the time.
Not to mention any pirate could lose everything in a moments notice, which is intended.
More loot on the open seas is not a bad thing, either.

Sometimes all I wanna do, before even logging in, is go fishing.
The downtime required to set up for a fishing session doesn't give me horribly atrocious vibes, but it is a bit of a nuisance that could be nudged by Rare into something more enjoyable.
I would like to see bait drops (barrel+dig) have a gentle buff. Anything that helps get me to actually fishing and stay fishing is good in my book.
People walk off with my trophy fish all the time, it's totally fine. I often offer all my bounty in return that they spare my life or even alliance (if I'm not in a fighting mood, usually not when I explicitly solo fish) and interesting, memorable experiences happen quite often.

Because its not about rushing the reward, its about the experience, right G.Geek?

TL;DR Please buff Bait droprates for Serious Fishermen.
