Do i need to create a new ship everytime i leave the game and what happens if i left chests and supplies on my ship?

  • Last night i played the game for the first time and started with Maiden Voyage. After finishing it, i set sail to the sea of thieves with the sloop in the maiden voyage. İ played for 3 hours and decided to leave the game. i left my ship near an island from my voyage mission. There was some chests, skulls in ship and i stock a lot of supply (food, Wood etc.) then today i login the game but its creating a new ship. Can someone explain these things to me. Do i have to end all the missions.

  • This is a session based game. None of your supplies/ treasure/etc. carry over from one session to the next. You need to turn in all loot before logging, or else you will lose it.

  • @scottstixx Thanks. One more question. if my ship goes down and im still alive what happens? Do i need to leave and sign in again can i find those who sank my ship ?

  • @mrnestof you just take your mermaid, it brings you to a new spawned ship...yes, you can find the ones who sunk you

  • @schwammlgott what is mermaid do i have a mermaid ? dont get it sorry

  • @mrnestof
If your ship sinks, a new one will spawn at a random island. If you talk to the mermaid in the water, it should teleport you to your new ship. It will start with the same supplies in the barrels as it did when you started the game and it will keep any ship cosmetics applied to it. You will lose anything that was in your supply barrels the moment you hear the gong sound indicating your ship has sunk, so try to fill your pockets with any food, planks, or cannonballs you want to save if you know you're about to sink. Any treasure will float to the surface for anyone to collect. It's good to have a rowboat attached to your ship to salvage any treasure if you sink. The rowboat will automatically detach when your ship sinks.

When your ship sinks, you will also lose any flames of fate you have applied to your ships lanterns, and if you have an emissary flag equipped, it will break off and float to the surface as a piece of treasure that can be turned in to the reaper's bones faction.

The mermaid appears where your ship sunk, or everytime your ship is out of a certain range...you can see a green-blue smoke coming out of the water...just swim over there and she takes you to your ship

  • @schwammlgott @testakleze i found out the mermaid . i was going that flames like fireworks. then two ship come out of the water and sink my ship. Thanks to you all for helping. im going to find my treasures. I hope.

It sounds like you accidentally wandered into a Skeleton Fleet event if two ships came out of the water to attack you. You can tell where they are so you can avoid them by looking for a large, ship-shaped cloud in the sky that occasionally flashes green.

As for the pillar of light you saw, if it was green and red, that's a Reaper's Chest. If it was gold, it's a Reaper's Bounty. Both are marked on your map, and stay marked on the map when you pick them up, meaning people will be able to see where you are as long as they're on your ship.

  • @blam320 Yes they were skeletons. I tried to fight them with a sloop. terrible idea.

It was greean and red. İ went there there was e sunken ship. I tried to get down there but island near the sunken ship was attacking me. My ship sunk again. There was a volcano too i tried to go there by swimming but a shark attacked to me. I guess i should stay in the woyage missions for a couple time. But i love the game. Its always giving me something new, i hope its keep going like that.

Oof, it sounds like you wandered into the Devil's Roar. That's probably the last place a new player wants to be, since all of the environmental hazards makes playing there very difficult. I strongly recommend staying in the "normal" three areas - being the Shores of Plenty, Ancient Isles, and The Wilds - until you feel like you're a skilled enough sailor, or unless you find a worthy crew to sail with you.

I also suggest you hop into the official Sea of Thieves Discord server - there you can look for people to play with and teach you the ropes.

  • Yeah, the skeleton ships can be daunting as a solo player. I've beaten them solo plenty, and have my 500 sunken skelly ships achievement. It takes some advanced knowledge of sailing/ harpooning mechanics to solo those, and plenty of supplies. Check the discord, watch YouTube videos by Hitbotc and Captain Falcore. They have some good instructional videos for newcomers. Try and find some regular play buddies. This game is 10x better with a regular crew. My group has been playing together since the game started, and we have a blast. And most importantly, don't take anything too seriously. Understand, you're going to get sunk..... possibly losing hours worth of loot. But from those losses, you'll learn things. Things no tutorial can teach you. That's where you'll find the magic in this game

  • @blam320 @ScottStixx You guys right, i guess i need a crew who knows sailing. I'll check the discord server. Could be good. Thanks, i love this forum.

  • @mrnestof The Discord is going to be full of friendly people, as well.

  • LOL sorry but I chuckled a little bit reading this. Not at your expense but rather how I made the same mistake on my first day playing.

I spent a few hours stocking my ship thinking it would stay. Got all loaded up, I was feeling good. Thought ill log, grab some food and then get going.

Turn it on to see 3 hours wasted. A fond memory I look back on.

Sorry that happened to you as well, part of the learning curve.
