@blam320 said in whats the point in buying ancient coins:
The point of buying Ancient Coins using real cash is to support the studio; spending more money on the game outside of the initial purchase is to help keep future updates free, and to keep the servers running.
this has nothing to do with anything i brought up
people don't buy things to support anything
thats not how items of value or interest works
people buy things out of their own interest seeing an item they think looks good or seems like a fun mechanic or gimick to use
its basically just the same as buying this game nobody buys it for the sole reason to just support the devs
its a purchase not a charity
besides if the purchases are to keep updates free it doesn't make sense to hand out ancient coins
but more or less buying ancient coins to support the devs is more like a side effect
for example take gofundme pages
people make donations to these to save lives or otherwise make life for others easier
yes but it also self empowers the donator with the feeling of being charitable a trait that makes one feel good about themselves this is within their own interest
the charitable trait is also a very egoistical trait
Also, your anecdotes are quite interesting. First, you encountered three Ancient Skeletons in the span of two days. I'd say you got extraordinarily lucky.
even if i was lucky i don't think this is how it should work
nonetheless however rare it is to happen upon these encounters
something you pay for with extra real life money should not be handed out to people
it just counters the purpose of actually buying anything
also makes the things you bought from the store seem like a waste of money because you could have just waited instead of spending something around 40-80 bucks worth of pets cosmetics and ship sets
had i known with a little bit of patience all those ancient coins would just be handed out as if i was a beggar i wouldn't have spent money in the first place
i am very patient
Second, you said your friend just started playing and almost has three million gold, but that he almost solely plays with Pirate Legends. Athena's Voyages are very lucrative in terms of their final payout; if he hasn't been buying any cosmetics it makes perfect sense that he'd reach three million gold by doing nothing but ride the coattails of more successful and skilled pirates.
yes it was a poor arguement
but nonetheless getting money even as a starter isn't hard at all
which is why this economy in this game is broken and not balanced not in the slightest
when i first started this game
it would take you a whole play session to unlock one cosmetic
not so much anymore as everything is just handed out to you because people are too lazy to actually put in some work for it
im detesting the way this ship is currently sterring call it a mutiny by unpopular reasons
i disagree with this and i will stand for that
