Tall Tales Mode (Please, add this.)

    Lately I've been getting more and more people who just go and sink whoever they see(Not the issue), its getting annoying because like I get that you want loot but I personally sometimes only do Tall Tales and collect only some chests or gems along the way, if anything at all. I finish a Tale 85% and get sunk and am forced to repeat it from start, just cause someone is greedy.

    I try doing a 100% on all of them which means I gotta repeat them 5 times. It's impossible with these conditions or extremely tedious cause you're forced to reset every damn time and pray to be lucky nobody on the server is like this.

    Basically I'm stuck without something like a Story Mode, in which it's possible to do Tales but not collect other loot or similar. Please, add something that lets me just do my Story missions and get to know more about the Lore, I'm sick of losing all my progress for nothing.
    Perhaps even make it impossible for others to collect your Tall Tales objects so they may sink me but I can come back to collect them. (Though some might just go and sink you over and over.)

    Please, just do something so I'm not forced to repeat Tales ~18 times instead of 5, as 5 is already enough.

    That's also a good idea but honestly, most of the time I even type/say in chat that I just want to do my Tale, if I have any loot they may take it, because I just want my TT; and most of them still just sink me. Some ever take the cake by staying where I need to be and sink me twice or more. It's just no fun, I don't care enough about the story to get over my salt on that one.

    I personally would prefer to be in a mode where I cannot collect loot aside from TT Loot, rather than get the flag. Perhaps just make it possible that Non-Crewmates aren't able to collect the TT Loot, so that they need to leave it where you were sunk.

    Though I imagine any of these work, especially flag-wise with the possibility of someone using them as cover for not actually doing them! More variety is always great.

    I was actually thinking you could only put up the flag if you were on a Tall Tale. It's optional, but you'd have to actually be on a Tall Tale to fly it.

    I also like this idea because I think it would promote more of the old school style of piracy: Just give us all your good loot and we'll leave you and your ship alone so you can carry on with your journey.

    I do, but when I legit just want to enjoy the Story the Developers made up and people just come to make you salty and annoy you, where is the fun in that.
    Video Games are to have fun, I'm not saying change the whole game, I enjoy the PvP aspect myself, just not when I want to relax and do some Story related things.
    I'm saying give me the possibility of choosing a Story Mode(It's not like other games do it, right?) , where I only gain lore and perhaps a small effort-reward, like the Commendations.

    Players would exploit the 'Story Mode' and would use them to farm gold from completing the Tall Tales. You bought a shared world pirate game. There will be pirates who want to sink you. Accept the risks, and be prepared to lose your TT loot.

    I was actually thinking you could only put up the flag if you were on a Tall Tale. It's optional, but you'd have to actually be on a Tall Tale to fly it.

    Abusing it for gold is why I said change it so you don't get gold for it but just the Commendations. At least when you do it in a different mode.
    It's not like I'm whining about the games PvP in general, I just don't want to be farmed off just cause someone thinks its fun to annoy people in TT.
    Also: the flag is meant as a symbol of saying "I'm doing this, please be kind." rather than making it impossible to fight at all.

    @ashenleviathan It's a pirate game. Players see a ship and want to rumble them. They may not know that you're doing a TT, so you look like a regular ship. Players will still ignore the flag.

    Ah...that's not at all how the TT flag would work. It's just a flag, like every other flag in the game. This wouldn't introduce any special mechanics around flying flags.

    The only requirement is that you have to have started a Tall Tale for the flag to show up in your flag box.

    That's exactly the reason why I request such a Mode, see it as something similar to Maiden Voyage, except you get no Gold or Doubloon rewards, just commendations.
    You can relax and do your things, but not abuse or exploit it for anything.
    Literally no downside to it, from how I see it.

    I guess you could call it that, but like actually lock it to Tall Tales, no other loot would spawn/you couldn't collect it, so nobody could abuse it for gold farming.
    As well as only having other Tall Tale players for PvE only or make it singular like Maiden Voyage.
    By any means, just take out the gold reward, keep it so people can gain the commendation items and that's it.
    As I said, I don't want to abuse it for gold or take myself out of PvP for those reasons, I simply want to enjoy a bit of Story Mode and get back into PvP when I'm not doing that.

    Yes, the possibility of getting attacked would still be there, because that's the game. The idea is that it would give players more context for who they might or might not want to attack.

    For some, seeing that flag would be a beacon because the TT Flag Flying boat might be easy to sink.
    For others, seeing it would mean to stay away because the ship most likely doesn't have loot and it's not worth the time.

    All in all, I think it would reduce the amount of Tall Tale attacks, though.

    You both realize that Tall Tales are adventures inside the adventure. There will be no "Story Mode." The "Story Mode" won't work, as players could get the title from completing all of the Tall Tales. The players who already have the title spent time and effort to protect their loot from other players. Just because you sink to someone doesn't give you the right to complain and ask for a separate server for Tall Tales.

    That's your opinion, I don't whine about being sunk, I whine about not being able to get anything done in the time I have, because of others deciding to play it that way.
    I can ask for whatever I want, whether the devs decide to put it in is up to them.
    This is a feedback board, not a board where you can [Mod edited] on peoples things, just cause you don't hold the same opinion.

    I stand by what I said, whether you get that or not, that's your thing. Sometimes I just want to chill and enjoy some story, if you think this isn't reasonable or possible, that's on you.

    Edit: I see why private servers for farming gold and things like friends joining with multiple ships are not reasonable, but I don't want the gold, I want my Tales and Commendations as I am a completionist as well as enjoying lore in games, that's all.
    I just want to enjoy a bit of story without having to worry that I may turn the corner to my ship and see that all my effort was for nothing.

    I do doubt Rare will ever introduce a way to play undisturbed. It goes against every notion of SoT being the "shared world" the devs want it to be.

    Allowing players to split themselves from this shared experience would probably split the player-base, which would be bad. It would also mean that Rare would have to support a single instance of a server for every player on these protected Tall Tales, which is tough as well.

    @rowge-gaming but it would totaly throw off the whole pirate game the other players keeps you on your toes and also encorages having recources on board I do however agree that the interuption of tall tlaes can be anoying there could be a beter way like maiking it part of th mission radial and woud make it so you can't be robed of your tall tale

    Yeah, I get that it's problematic to support a single instance for everyone but it could also be made to have a shared server for people that went into a Tall Tales Server. So basically the same as the normal PvP Servers except people do PvE TTs together, rather than just sinking one another for no loot whatsoever.

    Could also make it so the player would have to be Solo or possibly Duo, so it can be hosted as their own instance, rather than from their side. (If that's possible somehow, not really in on all the tech stuff that goes with this.)

    What the Devs do is up to them, really, I just went here to post and perhaps get my opinion to the team or anywhere at all, in case they might want to do something akin to what I suggest.

    They don't have to, like I don't demand to have that, I just think a lot of story-driven players would enjoy that.

    @ashenleviathan Something I could see working that wouldn't necessarily take away from the Shared world is introducing a Campaign option.

    Arena = 15 minute PVP Battles
    Adventure = Shared open world
    Campaign = Playing through every Tall Tale once, in order, but still in a shared world. It wouldn't require you to pick up each book, but instead walk you through the story in a linear way. Once you finished, you could play it again if you wanted to, but in order to get all the commendations you'd have to play in Adventure.

    @starwarsrogue11 yeah, and everyone else on your server would be doing Tall Tales as well. They could absolutely come fight and sink you, but the idea is that you're all there in this shared world to play through the story in its entirety.

    @starwarsrogue11 As much as I do lke this idea I do suggest that to keep out farmers for gold that loot dose not spawn and you can't do voyages and that you would still have to play it as least once in adventure mode to get all the comendations so it would still be fair and in adveture you get more gold in campaing you get none

    I really don't understand posts like these. My crew and I completed all the Tall Tales, some multiple times, and hardly ever had a problem with other ships. The one time we were attacked and sunk, we went back and sunk our attackers and picked up right where we left off. No big deal.

    Tall Tales aren't meant to be done in a vacuum. The threat of other pirates is always part of this game, and Tall Tales are no different. The same skills and strategies you learn to protect yourself in normal play apply equally to Tall Tales. Completing all the tales five times was never meant to be easy. The threat of other ships are really the only truly unpredictable challenge.
