Fix cross-play

    Ahoy! I’ll jump right into it on this post, I feel like there needs to be some changes made to cross play. I am an xbox player and I have my settings set to “prefer xbox players using controller” but that doesn’t always end up the case. Adventure I don’t seem to have the problem as much as I do in arena. The game should mandatory have xbox servers, pc servers, and cross play servers instead of mixing them.

    I’ve watched many streams and it is quite obviously PC players have a clear advantage in this game over xbox players. Hot keys and mouse accuracy is a major help for PC. Xbox is limited to hot keys granted we only have so many buttons on a controller.

    Point I’m trying to make is this game should be default setting you up with similiar players on similar consoles and I know there’s enough players on each side to not have to interfere with the other console. Cross play is meant to make the game enjoyable for friends that have game on different console, and should not be a default option.

    @ii-poulin-ii The game was designed for crossplay. It absolutely should be the default option. An on top of that, crossplay was ALWAYS advertised as a preference, not a guarantee.

    There already is an opt out preference in place, the system is working as intended, it will try to match you with people from your pool, otherwise it matches with whoever it can find.

    According to your proposal, you simply wouldn't get to play at all if there wasn't enough players of your pool, instead of having fallback players. Sounds fun!

    You can always quit your match and hope for the best. Although, a leaving penalty is going to be added soon so... whatever floats your boat.

    @bloodybil I know for a fact the amount of players on this game there wouldn’t or shouldn’t be a wait time to get into a server dedicated to your console only.

    @ii-poulin-ii The advantages you listed are not limited to the PC. They are an input based advantage. You guys can also have a keyboard and mouse. (Though I am not sure that you can assign hotkeys through the game [which if that is the case is a problem that needs to be solved]) If you are unable to assign hotkeys through the game then you might possibly be able to assign them via your keyboard and mouse.

    I am very confused why you think that crossplay opt-out should be the default setting. You bought a crossplay game and then expect them to make it so that you have to opt in to crossplay, not out? That is quite ridiculous. Do you buy a multiplayer game with singleplayer as a secondary option then complain that you have to opt in to singleplayer?

    Put yourself in the situation of a new PC player who buys the game along with his new Xbox player friend. The game is advertised as crossplay so they would not expect it to require you to opt in to crossplay. Imagine that the PC player is unable to join the Xbox player and does not know why he is unable to. They then either quit the game or do not enjoy it as much because they now have to spend time figuring out why their crossplay game is not crossplay. If you care so much about opting out from us "PC players with major advantages" you can spend the time to figure out how to opt out.

    Note: This is coming from the point of view of someone who does not use consoles and only uses PC's. So to me I see literally no reasons not to have crossplay in the game. I also do not really understand why they would make it so that the person with the better computer (or console) would not have the advantage.

    @bloodybil He's saying it shouldn't be a preference. He and allot of people would rather not get matched at all if their aren't enough players. It's pretty simple.If you don't want to play against PC players then the system is only inconveniencing you if it matches you with them so that you need to quit out and search again. Side note, leave penalty being added is hilarious.

    @mferr11 exactly was advertised as a preference not a guarantee, the reason behind my post is to make it a preference to want to play cross play. I know it’s not implemented.

    then you wouldn't have the problem getting into prefrenced opt out you just got to face the fact that not everybody wants to opt out of crossplay adding xbox servers to put you in with xbox players won't help you if the servers can't find enough people that has opt out on infact it would only just make it worse as instead of sailing with one or two pc players you'll be greeted with a wait queue which can take x amount of time to get into

    so you are stating that people who wants to opt out but don't know how just aren't smart enough to look up how? i can assure you those numbers are next to none people who wants to opt out already has and the ones who don't will stay in sailing with everybody

    @ii-poulin-ii don't forget those of xbox players with advantages. I run the xbox x with a usb 3.0 ssd and a elite series 2 controller. I get faster load times and more physical and programmable sensitivity settings. You should probably ask to be separated from us too.

    👆🏻 This. I’ve been told I’m hacking due to the ssd loading me in fast and the elite controller saving my chair multiple times.

    Yea pc doesnt have much advantage because of the mouse which is why it’s cross play.

    You do realize that xbox has M&K support right? So you can use a M&K.

    There really isn't enough players on the PC side which is why they are trying to release it on steam. Arena for us is bad. If we can't populate a match then it pulls xbox players to fill out matches. Then those xbox players leave which causes the PC lobbies to take upto an hour before a match starts.

    Advantages aren't as severe as you make it out to be. There are no headshots in this game and most of the combat is ship to ship which is actually easier to do with controller.

    Also its a preference.

    SIDE NOTE The game was advertised as a cross play platform. Just because other games have the option doesn't mean all games do. So in retrospect the fault lies with you for using biased information to make your decision. SoT is not a FPS game, so it doesn't follow the rules of the games you are thinking about.
