Almost everyone in the community I play with is stuck at home, with little to no income. Everyone is on PC so having a free weekend for xbox players, is kind of useless (still tried but nobody could get free trial).
This is an amazing time to try and bring more players into the game. I wish I had enough money to buy everyone a copy of the game to play, but I don't. A week or even just 3 day free trial would be enough .

Yea I was looking for the same. Then found out it was XBL subs only. Odd choice only to free weekend for half your platform base. As for "Buy Ultimate" I think you miss the point of a free weekend.
Actually, I think you missed the point. They are hoping the free weekend will result in new sales. People who are not subscribed to XBL are not in a position to purchase it.
Wait... you think people can only buy sea of thieves if they are subscribed to xbox live? You can buy the game on PC as well.
Also, some players incomes have been cut off due to layoff during pandemic, signing up for a live service, is not that appealing.
