I really think rare should consider making a switch version of this game Xbox has shown they don't really see Nintendo as there competitor like sony and I think the switch should be able to run this on par or close to base Xbox one at prob 720p and should also if this is released make the Xbox opt out console opt out with option of cross play and hopefully in the deal get some Nintendo customisations in the deal
Switch version of this game
The Xbox One struggles already, the switch wouldn't stand a chance.
The game is Microsoft exclusive aswell
This goes against your own principles of xbox remaining its own community where the ability to only play with their own exclusive community is a corner stone of the platform, even though Microsoft is trying to adapt. The optional nature for a pure xbox community experience was the corner stone of your arguments in the past.
Now you want them to expand to the competition, give up the exclusive and exclude their own platform and community on Windows 10 yet include the Nintendo community...
What changed? You bought a switch?
@itz-majman I know it's a exclusive but they have been ok with having Minecraft, ori and the blind forest, cuphead, hellblade go to switch
@nabberwar Nintendo and Microsoft have teamed up so its not impossible, i would understand why they wouldnt release it on the ps4 but they can do something special here.
@cotu42 I figured you would jump on this I suggest you go back and read previous comments I have no problems with cross play with consoles don't want it with pc I have no issues with ssd and loading times aslong as all consoles are capped to same fps and switch users for one have to pay for online access and to have to use a controller I am fine with that and also they should have various options of opt out aswell if the wanna play switch only/console only/mixed pool they should have the choice I have long said I have no issue with cross play when implemented correctly and gives the end users a choice i feel I have been very consistent with this approach and even said if people think there should be a opt out for series X then they should make it and even streaming phone users should have a opt out cos I think they are very disadcantaged to native gaming users and to answer your question I own a switch,Xbox one x and PS4 pro and have always done so my son owns a Xbox and a switch and my step daughter owns all 3 base systems aswell

You lost my support there.........
@callmebackdraft I don't know I own one seems a pretty cable system perhaps with resolution lowered and some details turned down should be able to run this at 30fps
@phantaxus honestly I am in the preview and as I have said before with the input lag and they way it works not a fan would much rather a native handheld console then game streaming and as I have said before phone users are gonna be at a large disadvantage over even native console users I think

Minecraft was multiplatform before Microsoft bought Mojang.
The developers for Ori and Cuphead are 3rd party developers who made the game initially as exclusive to Xbox and PC. Microsoft does not own the IP of either.
Hellblade was also multiplatform prior to Microsoft buying Ninja Theory. It was also exclusive to OTHER platforms prior to coming to Xbox which also occurred prior to purchase. Furthermore the sequel has all but been confirmed it will be exclusive to Xbox and PC.
Your examples don't hold up.
@dlchief58 I may be wrong but they are the publisher to those games and they still could not be ported to other systems without xbox/Microsoft say so and have shown a willingness to work with Nintendo especially this gen
@itz-majman I know it's a exclusive but they have been ok with having Minecraft, ori and the blind forest, cuphead, hellblade go to switch
3/4 of these are not good examples. Ori, Cuphead, and Hellblade's developers aren't owned by Microsoft, they have the power to negotiate with whom they put their game on. Minecraft is somewhat of a outlier, this game is beyond popular that it would have been foolish of Microsoft not to negotiate with competitors to sell their product with how big of a cash cow this game is. Sea of Thieves is no where near that level of a golden cow.
@nabberwar I suppose that's somewhat true but they have shown a willingness to work with nintendo they are the publisher to said games and would have had to allow them to be released on that system and they even allowed banjo in smash
@nabberwar Nintendo and Microsoft have teamed up so its not impossible, i would understand why they wouldnt release it on the ps4 but they can do something special here.
Certainly, but my statement still stands, its not Rare's choice in the matter, it would be solely Microsoft's discretion.

None of which are owned by microsoft, but rather, owned and released by indie companies (independent companies)... like...
Rare is owned by microsoft, meaning Sea of Thieves is owned by microsoft, Rare is not an indie company, they are not independent, and so the games they create cannot be released to any platform they wish, because they don't get to make those decisions, microsoft does.
@nabberwar Actually Ninja Theory, the developer of Hellblade, is now a Microsoft studio. They weren't though when they made the game, which was a PS4 exclusive before it came to Xbox so it is still a poor example. And the sequel will be an Xbox exclusive.
@tak225 Microsoft also published the first Mass Effect...now it is on every console after EA bought them. SONY published No Man's Sky on PS4...now it is on Xbox. Microsoft also published Ryse and Sunset Overdrive, but since they don't own the IP they can appear on other systems...and there is a strong rumor that Sunset Overdrive will come to SONY consoles after they bought the developer.
Simply publishing the game without owning the IP means little to nothing. All it does is guarantee a small window of exclusivity. Microsoft had no say on those other games coming to other consoles since they did not own the IP, once their time was up the developer could do whatever they wanted.
While it would be nice, the reality of the matter is that the Switch wouldn't be able to handle it, and Microsoft wouldn't let it happen even if it could handle it.
@dlchief58 pretty sure cuphead needed Phil Spencer's approval to release on switch which they thanked him for some rumours suggest Microsoft approached the developer and asked them to make the switch version I don't know about the other games or the contracts and I think if ryse and sunset both games I have played and enjoyed where gonna release on other systems they would have done so by now much like quantum break
@chronodusk perhaps so I nice idea I think the biggest draw back should not be if Microsoft should allow it but more if the switch could run it seems to do ok with hellblade and some other games I think it could run it in some form or another
@dlchief58
I just wish to add on to what you are saying, exclusivity isn't only limited to owning the IP. Developers who own the rights can negotiate exclusivity with publishers if the deal is lucrative enough, however, usually that is enforced contractually. At that stage it is finacially in their interests to sell exclusively with said publisher. A modern example would be in the Pc gaming realm with how Epic game store buying exclusive rights to games like The Outer Worlds, or how they bought a temporary exlcusive like Borderlands 3 (Which comes to steam tomorrow, of which I am excited).@tak225 Ryse on PC was not published by Microsoft for one, it was self published by Crytek in digital form and by Deep Silver on disc. Irrational was only recently purchased by SONY and the rumor of it coming there is very strong (plus it would take time for them to port it as they are working on other projects at the moment).
Furthermore Microsoft was NOT the publisher of Cuphead, it was self published on all platforms. There may have been a timed exclusivity but that was it. And actually it was Microsoft that encouraged them to do the Switch port, not allowed them to do it.
Nah man you pick and choose your standpoints based purely on your own needs without consideration of the bigger picture or any solid principles.
I read many of your posts, first it is mouse and keyboard vs controller to any hardware advantages to the pure xbox experience. Now it is any console is fine, but PC are the boogie men that must be shunned at all costs but invite everyone else regardless.
Your hatred towards a bit of hardware is astonishing, you see platforms I see people and don't feel the need to classify them based on their machine.
Going to love to see your response to xbox scarlett with 60 fps when it arrives.
@tak225 said in Switch version of this game:
@dlchief58 did they not own ninja theory and hellblade before the game was released on switch tho
That game was already under a publishing deal with someone else - and no Microsoft did not own them at the time as it was released on the same date as the Xbox version was.
The Outer Worlds, Rad, upcoming Psychonauts 2, Wastelands 3 and Bleeding Edge are all still coming to the other consoles because they had existing contracts with other publishers even though all those games' developers are now owned by Microsoft.
@cotu42 your response shows me you don't really read my responses I have been pretty clear and consistent on the subject of cross play and I am not covering the same ground with you I don't like cross play with pc and playing against mouse and keyboard on many games having owned a pc and I believe a matchmaking input would be easily exploitable on pc and if the game did come to switch I know they would all be using controller but in all honesty if it's one of those if you have this you have to include pc I would take current form and take no switch version i have no issues with hardware capabilities really as long as framerate is the same don't care about ssd and all that and as I have said to you before having owned a pc and a gaming laptop I soon discovered as a controller user the platform was not for me and I sold up and moved on and if you are a controller user on that platform you accept the disadvantages that come with that input and one of the best things about console gaming is that's 99% of the people are on the same input
You deny the fact that xbox scarlett will have 60 fps and will be included in the opt out at every turn. Your same FPS argument is going to die this winter when the new generation hits the market. Yet you won't care because you will have the new xbox. I am not hearing you being in favor of them being forced into crossplay as that would be against the xbox community... you deny reality and logic and cherry pick what suits you.
Xbox players can bypass a controller detection as easily as those on PC, they have been doing it for years as they didn't even have official support.. XIM adapters are widely available and way more used on the console scene. You keep speculating about that PC will do things that would be considered bannable offenses, so all PC players should by default be excluded and act like xbox players are saints that don't have these options or never would dare cheating the systems.
You classify people by their platform and want to judge them on that instead of their actions.
@cotu42 again if you actually read my responses you would know that I have said that if players have issues with ssd in Scarlett and framerate which we don't know what it will be I would be happy for Scarlett to be opted out of current gen Xbox consoles player pool and be put in its own players pool with out pc I have no issues with that and if you read my comments especially with players talking about the advantages of load times with ssd drives you would have seen that I have no issues at all with series X having a completely seperate version at all in fact if one of the requirement of the series X and joining the Xbox only player pool would be to sacrifice 60fps for 30fps I would make that sacrifice but I expect I won't have to as most of not all my friends intend to get series X and as I have said I have no issue with the sad load times thing as other players do

@tak225 that is my whole point and issue with you... it would be fine as long as you are given another seperate new opt out just for the next gen. It is again all about your selfish needs, your hatred for a platform and not the bigger picture or in this case even reality.
You are now stating you would be fine with it being scaled down, but you know that it is not something that is going to happen as you aren't that naive and you already got what you wanted. Limiting FPS while that was a major factor in the previous console war... really Microsoft will never allow Rare to gimp one of their flagship games because FPS matters in game battles.
Like I said I am looking forward to see your call to war against your own gear... I doubt you will be consistent and principled once the advantage is in your favor and fight so vigilant as you have done for opt out.
