Allow us to chose a pirate name (Character name)

    Hello!
    I'd love to be able to chose a pirate name instead of my Gamertag. I think that could improve role-play, immersion, and we could have some really funny names.
    Xbox forces us to have 4 digits to our Gamertags now, and I find very silly that it'd be displayed, whereas on Blizzard games, Discord, etc, it doesn't.

    Eh, I'm used to my crews' names. I know them by their screen names. To change it would cause me problems, but that's a me problem, I'm sure.

    People see the name gatorwocky on the seas and they know.....they KNOW>.....it's probably an easy kill.

    But...Pirate names are always weird. Always like nicknames. So think of your Gamertag as your Pirate name and why?
    "Boot Straps." not his real name.
    "Black Beard" not his real name.

    I'm fine with my gamertag but I wouldn't mind having a pirate name in-game. They do have a system already in place where you get a random generated pirate name, so it shouldn't be too hard to do.

    Definitely! What I'd suggest though is not to replace your gamertag but rather display it above/below your chosen character name in a BDO kind of way.

    My friends and I have roleplay pirate names (which we hardly use ourselves, mind you) but when a stranger comes and calls me "bloody" it sort of breaks the atmosphere. Because no, as much as The Bloody Spaniard might be an okay pirate name, it would be nice to get an actual one of my choice...

    SoT is my only game so my gamertag is my pirate's name. However, I would like to have in game naming just so i could get the missing "e" back into my name!

    The key lies in choosing a name that fits any game. It doesn't matter if i play a Pirate's Game or a World War 2 Game or a gooseherding game ...Hell i even have a name that would do well in president elections. ;)

    5. Do I like it?

    I bet there wouldn't be more Jack Sparrows with pirate names then there are already with gamertags! lol - maybe people would spell the name a few different ways, but i doubt it would be that bad. People can be quite creative :)

    i guarantee the sea would be chocablock with jack sparrow variations. it would be just like star trek online and star wars the old republic with all the 'Jämeş Ţ Ķirķ' and 'Łűķe Şķywälķer' buisiness.
