Received credit for two kills (two face and duchess) out of six on Gift Seeker of Legends.
We've tried completing mission and skeleton order, picked up all the gifts, ensured everyone got a hit on the lord, don't die. Three on my crew and kill

Commendations are slow to update. Closing and reopening the menu normally refreshes it, after opening it the first time. Sometimes it doesn't update at all until you next log on, though I haven't seen that glitch resurface in a while. For these Skeleton Lords in particular, they don't count if killed by outside forces. Gunpowder kegs and geysers are the main culprits for this, they do not seem to reward you the commendations. Not sure if fire gives it to you, but cannonballs, bullets and cutlass swings are sure to, as long as they get the final blow.

That is to say: The coup de grace has to be with a hand weapon, or a cannon shot. You can use gunpowder kegs or fire to reduce their health; but make the final blow a personal one. Keep the duchess away from geysers, if you can.

Geysers and fire seem to not count, but using five gunpowders immediately after digging seems to count. I've killed the Duchess at least eight times now, but three of them were geysers and one was fire so only four of them counted. Pretty lame if you ask me -- do the whole legendary voyage and if geysers happen to accidentally kill her then you don't get the point? That does not seem fair at all. If anyone from Rare is reading this, surely there must be a way to at least make the game know that your crew was the one who initiated the fire that killed the ashen lord, and also if your crew tapped the gift that gave rise to the lord and geysers kill them you should definitely get the kill point since there is no way to control geysers and where the lord is standing.
I've gotten credit for killing the helmsman several times with kegs. I would pile 4 kegs on top of the gift's location and then I'd tap the gift, immediately pick up a keg, light it, and run. 100% of the damage done would be from the kegs. No sword, no guns, no fire. It seems that if the initial explosion is enough to kill him, it will count. I suspect the problem isn't exactly with kegs, but the fire that occurs from the keg explosion. Maybe if the resulting fire kills them, they don't count.
Last four attempts, only got credit for two. I've adopted the strategy of killing the lords and literally leaving everything behind, not even digging up the gifts completely. Apparently someone else had the same idea because I found orders and a villainous skull on skull keep when I got there. Once the dutchess dies, hopefully by me and not geysers, I server hop. My numbers are now 13 helmsman, 21 scoundrel, and 11 dutchess. It's disappointing that the dutchess is that far behind the scoundrel when they should be much closer. I just want to get these as close to 25 as possibly before doing forts becomes the only way to finish them, but with as many times as I've been robbed on molten sands, I get the feeling I'll finish the scoundrel and then work towards killing the helmsman, maybe getting him to 25 and going back to killing the dutchess before these voyages disappear.
Yep. Killed two face last week and I still dont have credit. I barely see him I'm racking up kills on the other two.
If you hit it at any point and it dies it should count.
I play solo a lot and kegs are my friend, so are geysers..its strategy and I still won the fight. I shouldnt be punished for using the resources in the game to my advantage:)
