It might be personal preferences, but theres not enough stuff to buy with Dubloons. I have 1500 dubles from all these "booster" events they have been doing and most of the cosmetics in the dubloon shop I just dont care about. =/ I had 1700, but spent 200. That's it.
Why not let us use dubloons to buy filled Supply Crates to jump start our Adventure sessions? They could cost 150-200 dubloons or 70,000g.
@blazedrake100 Ultimately, it depends on how it is balanced. I'd even pay dubloons for an empty Storage Crate. (Maybe a bit less, but still.) Storage Crates make stocking so much easier on the Outpost.

@realstyli I would but that exchange rate is terrible. It hasn't changed ever and doesn't take into account the updates made to dubloons.
The bottom line here is giving us more stuff to buy, with dubloons, to improve our PQoL (Pirate Quality of Life).

Added note: You have too much free time on your hands if you manage to hoard so much coin and dubloons, or you're try hard players. I wish I had enough time for myself to play SoT as much and then complain that I made more than enough dubloons during the holidays
I traded in a load of doubloons for cash and bought one of the regular ship sets that I hadn't got yet, so it's not all bad news.
I can't say I mind having too many of them, although they have devalued Reaper Chests and the higher level event commendations quite a bit. Why go to the trouble of clearing fifty Forts of the Damned, or defeating Duchess twenty five times when you can get the same number of doubloons from a handful of gifts? Doubloon inflation may turn into a bigger problem if left as it is!
@astralnautical haha lol, i have over 17000 doubloons and 5.2 million gold i am not even picky of what i am buying i have bought every single cosmetic this game has to offer (apart from 5 which are locked behind the new seadogs commendations and 2 behind the merchant Pl commendation)
What rare basicly did over the past year was destroy the entire ingame economy especially these 13 days of giving where insane.
However the option to purchase supplies on outposts should never be done, imagine this i have millions of gold and thousands of doubloons with nothing to spend them on i could get thousands of planks and cannonballs and then you which still has a nice hoard of the currencys would still be disadvantaged especially if you take into consideration that most if not all the players i sail with are in the exact same position and can make sure we can shoot cannonballs 24/7 without running dry.
My avarage gaming (4 hours) session ends with 100k~150k gold earned and 200+ doubloons earned and that is without double gold/doubloons

Hardly. On either of your assumptions tbh..
If you're a day one-er, when dubloons were added if you did every comm and bought every cosmetic you'd still have an excess, and that carried through for several bilge rats..
Eventually they started tossing even more doubloons around for everything to everyone, and the means to get them persisted...
If during double doubloons on the gift giving voyages you didnt get at least 2k+ dubloons extra for all your comms, gift hand ins, ashen keys/chests etc while you were around then I'm sorry.. the answer isn't that we're tryhards or have too much time.. it's it's that you might be kinda bad with the time you do have tbh, and that we actually get things done when we play, and Rare has definitely been facilitating hoarding these whether it's intentional or not.
I earned literally like 3k dubloons in maybe a four hour or less session with these gift voyages, and the only comms I needed left were the 50 generous, and a few of the captain kill comms, and that wasn't even done in an attempt to be farming dubloons..
@toothball They should equalize all the doubloons and stop handing out doubloons like candy. anyone over 2k doubloons should be dropped down below that. then stop handing them out all over the place. make them scarce like they once were

On double doubloons if you allianced to get the comms done and worked together that actually would have been just as lucrative a play.
I crewed with a crew that needed the comms and thats how they knocked them out. Digging and trading with the alliance, getting regular payout plus comms for the giveaway/alliance handout, and double for their own hand ins.
Sadly I'm a soloer in every since of the word. First and last time I was in an alliance was when they first introduced the skellie fleets.
Luckily for me, I was never that into the commendations anyway, so I don't feel like I've missed much.
Still, I suppose it couldn't hurt to be a smidge more sociable.

Not saying that's a bad way to play, I solo sometimes, but anyone claiming playing regularly in a way that supports efficiency is try hard or having too much time on hand is just silly lol.
@nevetser that's a lot but I'm not entirely surprised. I used to have a lot after spending hours farming up to 10000 doubloons before this patch. Now, I'm completely demotivated to play because given how Rare just inflated doubloons in the game, they can just as easily introduce a new event next patch which awards 100000 doubloons per voyage. I made as many doubloons in one day in the new patch as I made in 6 months prior, with significantly less effort to boot.

Mercenary voyages started a downward spiral, where rare kept trying to make high value voyages until they ruined doubloons. They're here to try to keep people doing their stupid voyages now.

Buyed already a lot if stuff i never will equip, including full ship and pirates Sets.
I will only buy new stuff if it is really cool, because i have all exclusives, many many cosmetics i wont ever use.
Iirc i'm at 8000 Dubloons and "only" 2 Million, because i buyed all if it recently.
But i wont in the future, because i have 3 complete Sets today i really like.
The complete Wailing Barnacle Set, a cool mix of the Fire Stuff from the old event and the new Ashen Dragon stuff and a mix of cosmetics 50 Merchant Ship, Lord Guardian Sails, golden Cannons, Rose wheel, Bonecrusher and the spinal Figurehead while wearing the red Admiral Jacket, Rose hat...
So if i buy new stuff, it need to be equal cool and beautiful to me.
