Is there any news on this? I'm getting really tired of having one guy merc a full galleon crew over and over and over.... And before the haters chime in, no we are not "bad" players, We just cant 360 in mid air, macro jump/shoot/reload, and don't even get me started on the cheats. And it seems to be worse the first 7-14 days after a new event (wonder why).
I also don't understand why there is so much debate over this. So many people argue there is no advantage/disadvantage. It is VERY clear of the PC advantage. I also don't see the problem with the opt out as players will still be matched up on servers based on there choice. Most of the people that complain about having the opt out are those that just want to keep using their advantage against the console players. It is obvious console players want it, and PC don't. There is probably an issue just in that statement.
So anyways, where are we at here? This was promised back BEFORE arena came out. Console got excited as the frustration was going to be removed, and here we are XX months later without it. Any updates would be appreciated.
Cross play opt out... yet again
Most PC players can't and/or won't do 360s in midair, nor macro reloading, shooting or jumping. Macros are typically used on difficult button sequences, not pressing 2 things quickly. I can do a 360 in midair with my controller, but there's really no point to it, since no one would care and it doesn't help me. As for cheating, that happens equally on PC and XBox, and it doesn't happen often. That said, I encountered one cheater recently, which is one more than I encountered the rest of the year, and equal to the amount I had encountered before then.
There is an advantage that a M&K has over a controller (not a PC over an XBox), which is quick precision aiming. However, there is also an advantage that a controller has over a M&K, which is in ship controls and their usability. Since people tend to try to board, where they would be at a disadvantage regardless of platform (outnumbered and their enemies respawn, while they don't), they often lose these battles. That said, a controller using XBox player can win against M&K using PC players, I do it myself, as do the vast majority of the millions who play this game, or at least, as the majority of XBox players who engage in PvP do. A player who plays PvE only and as such knows little to nothing about PvP is likely to lose against any somewhat competent PvP player.
PC players don't not want the opt-out because they want to 'keep an advantage over console players', nor do most console players care for the opt-out at all. Most people accept that skill differences exist within the game and that they lose to a combination of superior skill, situational awareness, game knowledge, and tactics, but a select few refuse to believe that they can be beat and look for someone to blame for their losses, in this case, the PC community. There is no blanket statement that really describes the PC or XBox communities, both are made up of various player types, ranging from those who PvP only, be it for the fight or for the treasure, to those who PvE only, though some give up at the prospect of a fight and others jump to defend themselves. These communities are one, but a small section of the XBox community seeks to reinstate the segregation between the two that they once had, under the misguided idea that it will improve their chances of success.
Sure, a small group got excited once the opt-out was announced. Then, it didn't immediately come out due to technical difficulties; the game was built around crossplay in an open world (with balance in mind, too) and it wasn't easy to go back and just remove that. So that group felt betrayed of what they believed they deserved, and continued to throw hate at anyone who didn't preach their ways, and some who did. It's getting there, as Rare have already stated several times, but it's taken this long and will take a bit longer to get working fully. When the same group comes back with a new, further goalpost, I doubt Rare will listen again. It is my understanding watching the last dev update video that opt out might very well be under testing with the insiders, or will be very soon, and if all goes well, it should be introduced into the full game January, or February if there are any complications.
So not long now. Hang in there!
Nothing was promised. Why you and everyone else keeps using this word to associate with opt out I won't understand because you were never PROMISED anything. They said they were going to TRY to release it with Arena but still had bugs to work out. Then they released it FOR ARENA. Congrats on it breaking Arena.
PC's players don't need macro in this game. Cept for maybe double gunning the other macros that you guys are coming up with are assanine. Like the cannon reload macro?? Why? Its not ANY faster than doing it manually and it takes no effort to do it manually. Next, to set up a macro for cannon reloads is a lot more work than you think it is. Macros are set up on a specific button combination and if any of those buttons combinations doesn't work like for say cannons, it doesn't work properly.
Xbox player here and reading these posts actually make me queasy 😓
I've never felt at a disadvantage whoever I've faced on the seas.. I am successfull in 90% of my battles.. I also solo sloop..
The fact that I get called on too many occasions a "PC cheat" is insane.. I tell them im on Xbox and silence 🤣 It's just the first sad excuse you get from poor players.. stop blaming others and start blaming yourself/crew for your demise...
I might just go opt out to prove a point.. you're going to have a hard time either way 😏
I've heard many say they'll be happy for opt-out because it will provide them with an easy server to PvP in, due to the fact that so many of the players in it will think that they're immortal in PvP and hold more treasure on board. It's not the platform, or the input, or the version that wins the fight, it's the players.

Big facts right here!! I feel like the only xbox player who is saddened by this choice of opt out!
It will be a big wake up call for them.. they will find another excuse 🤷♂️
I shall definitely indulge in some opt out sessions, and I am convinced the seas will be even more hostile than ever on those servers as players will no longer fear having to sail on the Sea of Cheats and will want to test their mettle against others. (fairly)
Not happy about the opt out, then don't use it. Its an optional choice after all.

Fairly 🤣
Oh I'll be using it to prove a point
@needsmokes exactly some people don't seem to get this and why it's still being debated not sure as it should be under testing now any insiders can confirm this but hopefully it arrives sooner rather then later
@sandaledpond889 Did I tell anybody not to share his opinion? No, I didn't. Did I refer to the influx of unnecessary threads on topics that we already have threads about and that the mods keep on closing due to this very reason? Yes, I did.
In this case, and I can hardly believe what I'm saying, I agree with @NeedSmokes and his ceasefire thread.
Pc has faster load times faster quick switch fast fps and better resolution. The pc advantage isn't just m/k

Load times are based on connection and ssds(available for Xbox), if you're talking about double gun for quick switch, that's an exploit, fast fps doesn't make a big difference(unless you're an esports player), and better resolution doesn't help them at all as render distances are the same everywhere. Xbox player here if you care
At 200 mbps console loading in slower than 15 Mbps pc it's not the connection. Resolution helps u see better when moving fps gives u more frames to better watch the situation of the screen. These are advantages even if it's a novice pc player the fact u can't understand or refuse to is hilarious
No it's not, glitch abuse is cheating. Other wise double gunning and 1 shot blunderbuss is cheating
Ok this is your declaration that people using 2 guns and 1 shot blunderbuss mechanics to there advantage (under the very definition of exploit) are cheaters.
@sandaledpond889 yes it is. Do u even know was exploit means?
Here's a couple links go learn urself sumtin
I’m an Xbox player and I seriously do not understand why this keeps getting brought up time and time again. It’s not nearly as much a problem as it’s portrayed.
Now I’m not saying PC players don’t have an advantage because they do to an extent but for me it’s way less of an advantage than people make it out to be and doesn’t warrant the introduction of cross play in the next couple of months.
For me people throw down the PC excuse far too much purely because they’ve been sank by a good crew, ever thought there may be better players than you on the seas? I play this game a lot, me and my crew have sank a lot of people but we’ve also had our fair share sinks but for me it’s because we’ve met a crew who have been genuinely better.
Honestly it makes me ashamed to be part of the Xbox community at times because it’s pathetic how much the PC community is vilified with people just looking for an excuse as to why they sank rather than they were outplayed.
Stop thinking about yourself, there’s a lot of great people in this community on both Xbox and PC and I really don’t like seeing the community divided.
I guarantee when opt-out cross-play comes in you will see it was never the PC community, it was you.

Not every PC is the latest $2000 piece of kit! So that's just false!
This was talked about over a year ago and is currently being tested in insiders. if this works like the one in Arena, we really aren't getting an opt out as the one in arena STILL forced a friend and I to play with nothing BUT PC players.
Most of the PC Players that don't want this are the streamers who use the xbox players to make them selves look better than they actually are. to make more money and make it look like they are some kind of SOT BA. Their system is better but at the end of the day, they aren't themselves.

Two straight up bold faced lies. I promise you, MOST xbox players want this opt out.
We should have been told there was cross play to begin with then this game would have tanked for sure. I stay away from CP. There is no "fun" in losing all the time because I chose a console over a PC.

It processing every button click faster and the field of view is better. PC players love the fact that they can stay within your blind spot until your dead.
the only PC Players that deny that their system is 100% better is the ones that need that advantage and will defend it till they are playing by themselves on a dead PC server. which is coming.
@wickeddeath
You were told from the beginning that the game was crossplay. It was one of the main selling points of the game, actually - an open world where everyone plays. If you didn't see that, that's on you, not Rare. As for most XBox players, do you see every one of, or even most of, the millions of XBox players that play the game getting excited over the announce of opt-out? Did you see them constantly asking for it? I don't, and if you do, then please point out where. I did see many on the seas, though, enjoying their experiences in the game, whether it was in PvP, PvE, or a combination of both.@kin-h4chi said in Cross play opt out... yet again:
@navillicious
Boosting kills in arena.........and that was an Xbox only match
I'm not sure what this was directed towards, if you're implying that boosting is cheating then I would disagree. Is it a bannable offense? Probably yeah, people shouldn't boost under any circumstance but is it cheating? No. I would say it's more immoral to coordinate boosting and definitely bannable.

Load times aren't just connection it's more hardware based, that's why an SSD drive helps load times and I would recommend anyone, Xbox or PC, to get one.
