Something that I've wished for a long time existed in sea of thieves was a painting faction, so I'm going to pitch my idea for what they do and hopefully you might agree with me.
New items
Easel: You can set this item down from your inventory. It can act like a wall, but also you can set three planks down into it in order to paint what's in front of you.
Paintbrush: Allows you to paint with the Easel. Also allows you to "tag" surfaces with a mark of your own ( maybe you can buy new paints and new marks?) You can also swipe at someone with the paintbrush in order to blind them, kind of like vomit or poison.
Faction quests
Painting Riddle:
- For a lot of gold you can buy a painting.
- This painting has a location in the frame, and an X marks the spot (think the first tall tale key puzzle.)
- Has large pay off but the painting is a physical object and anyone can steal it or get to the treasure themselves first.
- Variations could include tampering with the painting to reveal secrets(Think splashing water to reveal a second painting, shining a light on it to reveal some hidden ink, etc.)
Commissions:
- You can be commissioned to find a certain location or scene (think something along the lines of a riddle quest) and you have to paint it. I guess something like: Skeletons rising in front of a waterfall, a keg about to explode, etc.
- Alternative idea is that you just get payed for painting various parts of an islands, kind of like a cartographer.
