I have been playing Sea of Thieves since beta and my time here has been a blast. I love this game and its community. But as of late , I am having a hard time wanting to play.
As many already know, sites offering cheat/hacks are everywhere. Not only that, there has been a resurgence of double gunning now in the form of an exploit giving players an unfair advantage.
And my question to the developers, what is being done about these issues? The reporting systems isn't enough to deter these individuals. And it is unclear if there is any anti-cheat system in place.
And before I go any further I just want it to be known that I have a lot of respect for our friends at Rare. Their hard work has given me and countless others a truly awesome pirate experience.
That being said, on the topic of hacking/exploits it doesn't really seem like there is any plan to combat it aside from the reporting system. And with streamers Known for not only using exploits, but encouraging them along with the toxic behavior their communities bring to the game.
And while I will not name these streamers, I will say that Rare has given these individuals a lot of attention and apparent support. Which just makes it seem they and their viewer numbers matter more than the integrity of this game and its wonderful community.
It pains me to say such things but as I said before I love this game, its developers and the positive streamers and their communities that truly care about this game. And I feel compelled to say something and hope others will as well
I want to be playing this game for years to come . But if the current state of things continues I fear not only myself but others will be turned away when numbers mean more than its dedicated players and their communities.
And before " It's a business" comes up I am well aware, but other gaming companies that have taken a HARD stance against cheating and toxicity earned respect by its player base for taking a stance against those issues and I hope Rare will as well.
