Can we have more Pride flags?

    Don’t get me wrong I LOVE the gay flag (love flying it too) but, Rare, do you think we could have some more pride flags?

    Just a thought. It would be nice to have these flags available to fly on our ships. ❤️

    Again guys quit forcing this topic to be something it’s not. This is a feedback and suggestion forum and I gave a suggestion. It is far from controversial, and some of you are genuinely borderline phobic with the words you’re choosing.

    Please this thread was to merely suggest an idea and not to stir up trouble, some people have been getting warnings as well. Pride flags can express identity, not cause chaos. Pride Flags are not corrupt, neither are they “sexualizing” things or people, and they’re especially not controversial. This topic was far from political until people forced it to be.

    While I would love those flags too. There would be too much backlash. The Rainbow flag isn't a "Pride" flag by label itself. That's how they're getting away with it. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    Edit- yes it's unfortunate but controversial. Just like national flags.

    Push for acceptance? Okay you need to back off.

    It would be nice to have more representation. Example: I’m transgender and wouldn’t mind flying the trans flag, as it is a representation of my own identity. Some people assume what I am because of my voice, and some of those people are actually LGBTQA+ friendly (others? Not so much). I explain down the road if I talk to them, but still, more pride flags would be a nice addition to the game.

    Not controversial. It only is if people make it such a thing.

    I know a CoD game that has pride flags in calling cards. They aren’t “”getting away”” with anything. They’re putting them there cuz they can. If people can’t handle that? Then they have to deal with it as it’s nobody’s problem but their own.

    I want to be clear here. I don't have a problem with your identity and support all those who identify as trans, gay amd all the other identities you listed.

    I don't think that those groups should get flags that represent them though. The only flag that isn't based off pirate lore or in game content is the rainbow flag. Which Rare put in the game to show that all are welcomed and accepted on the seas. They haven't added country flags or any flags representing any other real world groups. I don't feel they need to.

    If you were to include those flags then you would need to include flags from all walks of life. Otherwise this would become a political statement in a video game that’s about Pirate Adventure.

    The whole point of a sandbox video game like Sea of Thieves is to leave behind your current place in a world and get lost in the games world. To play out the pirate life. Sure when I play I don’t always do a pirate voice but I play with a pirate avatar that I spent hours generating. Who has become my pirate me that is totally different than who I am.

    Unfortunately the harm from others I think would be worse. It’s bad enough you’ll encounter players who should have their mouth sewn shut. This would just be even easier to become a target.

    While you have the noblest of intentions Sea of Thieves already welcomes everyone.

    Why bring the real world into a video game? I'm also against national flags for the same reason. Like people above have said, games are meant to escape the real world, not have the same debates as you do irl.

    Didn't go well when the rainbow flag was added because real world controversial topics don't just easily get agreed upon by everyone. Instead of opening that can of worms again, DON'T.

    One can be proud of many things, a country can be one.

    That said, I have absolutely nothing against anyone, neither the Ls, the Gs, the Bs or the Ts. I think the current flag is already representing that community quite well though.

    If anything, I may not personally feel the need to broadcast what I do in my captain's cabin and with whom, but I would love to show what language I speak though. (One can be proud of their language as well)

    I think nationality flags (at least main languages ones) could be quite useful to identify people that speak the same language as you and may facilitate communication. Many times I faced silent pirates that would have otherwise communicated, knowing that I could speak their language.

    Of course, one type of flag doesn't prevent others, but you know, just saying, can't have a flag for everything in life.

    Saying you are not trying to be political on the subject is honestly silly. The whole concept over flags is nothing but politics.

    The rainbow flag of war aside this is somewhat of a double standard where you are okay with asking for more different pride flags but you get snippy at someone asking for an american flag.

    If you want proof that all flags are political just look at your statement.

    The fact that some flags are deemed allowed and others are not due to the reaction people have to it is why its political.

    The only way for flags to NOT be political is to say that any and all kinds of flags are allowed. The second you start picking and choosing what you allow and dont allow is when it becomes political.

    SIDE NOTE All flags are pride flags because all kinds of people die and live for their flags. The LBGQT community doesn't have a monopoly on the word pride or what that word represents.

    SIDE NOTE 2 Just to clarify. I wouldn't be against the idea, except I would think that its unfair to not have other flags that represents peoples unions. Aka the American flag, the canadian flag, British Flag, etc etc etc. But again someone people like flags that others don't. Others get offended by certain flags. Its all political.

    95% of the time if the ship is flying the rainbow flag they are going to attack you. They're pretty inclusive that way.

    @agent-samuraii So as per your response I can assume you wouldn't mind them also making a Confederate flag? I was born in Florida and raised listening to Southern Rock. We loved groups like The Allman Brothers and Skynyrd. The Confederate flag flew on our trucks and in the back windows. To us it represents good wholesome, GOD fearing Southern living. I hope you'd also be ok with the addition of this flag. I have no objections to your request.

    Haha why people are proposing the American flag in this topic I’ll never know. Yea I don’t see why not. Unless the flags are required to have those sex symbols or something. You should post the colors or shapes that would be on the flags for Rare for convenience. Forgive me for not knowing

    The rainbow flag is not purely a 'gay pride flag', that's just something which took the symbol as its own. The rainbow represents all of anything you can think of being included, much like how it covers all colors (one could argue a gradient rainbow would work better for that, but that's another topic and not with the art style). That's why it is used as a pride flag, rather than for any specific alignment. The only flags that are in the game are the jolly roger, for showing hostile intentions, the rainbow flag, for showing anything the crew wants it to, some colored flags which occasionally have unofficial uses placed on them, and the ones which match the cosmetics (these don't count, as they are really just to complete the sets and add another thematic customization option).
    As for country flags, not all of them would be available, given the early 1600s setting. Plus, the pirates in the Sea of Thieves are free from governments and world powers, that's the reason there are so many there. If one were to show alignment to a country like that, some might consider it a hostile act and react accordingly.

    Issue would be that this is a game with PVP built in as a obstacle. Flying those flags as well as the flags of Countries may open up MS and Rare to issues of people complaining they are being targeted for flying said flag.

    Just like the issue of whaling in the game...its just worth the grief that may go along with its inclusion.

    I fly the rainbow flag too. Not because I'm gay, just because I like the colors and the hippy groove. Plus it makes my Ship easier for me to spot through dense foliage and from underwater.

    Another bonus is that it seems to infuriate homophobic teenage boys so that they make the mistake of getting too close to me. Like moths to a rainbow flame.

    For better or for worse, Rare got a lot of "flak" (some of which were very well founded arguments) when they brought out the Rainbow Flag.

    I doubt that they will want to open up that hornet's nest again by bringing out more flags that correlate to "real world issues".

    My guess is that you are out of luck. Sorry.

    @agent-samuraii I was always of the impression (though not claiming I know) that the rainbow flag was encompassing of all sexualities? I'm not entirely sure why there's a need to represent each sexuality individually.

    C'mon people. The less controversial flags (religions, countries, genre, etc) the better. They will always drive to rejection, hate, rascism, etc. cause the world is filled with stupid people.

    So let it be. The pride flag is a neutral flag, includes everyone. If you have something wrong with it, you are the only one that is wrong.

    Being gay or a vegan, or a buddist is such an important thing that you need to tell everyone in a videogame? I don't care what people do indoors, or the life they have and no one should do.

    The L flag will be cool tho.

    It's the same discussion as national flags. How far will you go in adding so many flags?
    The Rainbow flag represents us all, Gay Streight Transgender and Attack Helicopters.

    So just like my no to national flags, have my no to specific sexual prefference flags.

    Totally agree. If u create individual flags for each representation you may be discriminating other ones... (because your flag may not be representing them at all, cuz then they don't have their own flag, whatever reason u find.)

    As said before, the pride flag, includes each one of us, rational and open minded people with our whole differences and similitudes, no discriminations and no division between us. And that's what the game is for, to don't discriminte any of us in any possible way. To play as a community and to not bring politics and representations from out of the game!! We are an incredible community and we should remain together!

    I think the pride flag includes each one of us, and there's no need to implement more flags to define the individuals we are. Im playing a game, enjoying it and that's all that matters.

    national pride is still pride. :P

    Besides, the rainbow flag is already the pride flag, not just gay pride, all the prides you just listed as well, therefore we don't need another one, as we already have one that represents all of them.
