My white meg was tough to beat it was super aggressive and we were in the Roar under an active volcano.
Don't take my pride from me! Its right up there with my kids arriving in the world!
Shrouded Ghost
@i-chrisneale-i I like the idea of the shrouded ghost be so rare, that makes him mystieres. But i have to agree for achiment hunters it can be an pain..
It’s a legend on the dead a tale. You ever hear fisherman tell tall tales about their catch or what got away? Ever hear the story of the Lockness monster? What about big foot? It’s a fun title that I would like to achieve and I would like to keep it rare. Why do people want it to spawn more? Personally I don’t want the title to lose its notoriety. I want to find it by chance and tell everyone the day I took down the shrouded ghost.
People get the meg on the regular just a small amount. Played since day one and I’m okay I haven’t got it yet. If the title was common I would probably never wear it and store it away.
@lonepineapple44 That moment was already ruined when I met the Shrouded Ghost and saw there wasn't anything special about her.
I am not sure if they have adjusted overall meg encounter rates?
Solo, I never see one anymore. When I have someone else on the ship, I saw it one time.
I know it is scaled down from last winter, but it's sparce now, perhaps solo players are a lot rarer? It would go along with their changes to kraken and other things to make solo players have an easier time.
I do not think it should get an increased spawn rate. This would make it less special. Do I want to kill it? 100%, I would drop literally everything I was doing to focus on it. When I do get the title, I would never change my title. If everyone had it, it just wouldn't be as special. Kinda like how the Pirate Legend title is now....

@i-chrisneale-i No. just no. We need harder/rarer titles and commendations. Quit complaining, keep playing, and find a ghost.
Dont know if this is serious or not. He plays every single day since launch, but you want him to quit complaining and find a ghost?
Would be interesting to get some sort of notification if spawn conditions are active though. A visual cue the ghost was present/avialable, forcing players out to sea to search for it. It likely would force more conflict with ships on the seas in a smaller area.
Don't change the spawn rates, just notify people when it's around possibly. I kind of like the idea of hunting this thing, and I get excited every Meg I see still. Totally agree it should be rare. I'd love to be able to hunt this thing down though, even if it took days to locate.

That's not harder it's rng. Harder I agree, rare I don't
I know it's a meg like any other in terms of difficulty but I'd prefer it to stay rare. There's something about the pure luck of finding it that adds to the appeal. If it's common like the others, that kind of destroys the lore of it for me. The urban legends, the theories, the jokes about it not being real and all the videos being fake, the conspiracies - it just brings a bit of life to the game. And there's very little like that in the game.
And, no, I haven't found it yet either. Maybe I will one day, maybe I won't but that's the joy of it.
There are plenty of things that could be fixed in the game, but not this, IMHO.

I'll take it. I haven't had that moment yet, but I know I'll be disappointed somehow, because in the end it's still just a Megalodon. It could be more evil, smarter, especially challenging. And if it were only a very bad breath that brings tears to your eyes... laugh.
@i-chrisneale-i I saw it twice. First time it spawned while we were fighting a skeleton ship and then a brig pulled up on us. The skeleton ship was attacking the meg and ended up killing it and we didn't get credit. Then, a few weeks back I was sailing the edge of the map and it popped up on me by Smugglers (out near the rocks to the NW). Almost at the same time the server switched and when the text went away he swam away from me and despawned. I'll never kill this thing even if it pops up now. Eff that shark.
I still haven't seen one, and only know one player who has. This isn't exactly a casual player base either. That being said, I hope they don't change it. If eleven are killed a day, that means one is spawning every 2 hours or so on one lucky server. I will eventually kill one (well eventually 5), and I will feel a rush of good fortune. Until then Ill keep looking and hope rare sticks to the plan
@goedecke-michel its a big white shark if you cant see it instantly youre part blind yet again its just another meg its not special its just a computer program. Getting the shark has little to do with skill as megs take 0 skill if you have the ghost its not from earning it youre not special it was given to you.
@realstyli so you prefer a rng system to lower your chance of completing or even attempting in game content.
@realstyli there is no lore to experience just a bunch of lines of code. The shark isnt special and fighting it isnt special. There is no pride to have fighting and getting as you yourself didnt accomplish any special feat a program just gave you a white shark that is a carbon copy of all the others.
@klutchxking518 That is completely untrue though. You aren't guaranteed to find it, despite how much you play because it is solely based on RNG. Anything based on RNG is just plain dumb. Rare put no thought into the Shrouded Ghost. It is just a re-skin of the regular meg with a rare spawn chance. I mean, come on, it isn't even relegated to the appear in the shroud, which is what its name implies. If they wanted to make at least a somewhat interesting method to find it, they could have made it so the ghost would hunt you the more you killed other megs. Each meg kill increases the likelihood of you encountering the ghost within a rolling time window. The more you kill the higher the chance his vengeful spirit will enact revenge upon your crew. This makes it a commendation that would require commitment, but not solely be relegated to pure chance...it's just bad game design.
I think Megs should be changed from RNG to Circumstance. Regular one should appear anywhere and everywhere, the Ancient One should be exclusive to the Ancient Isles, ShadowMaw should appear only at night time, The Crested Queen could maybe only appear in the Devils Roar and the Shrouded Ghost should absolutely only appear in Fog.

I know, I know. Sadly, sad but true.
@flying-poopla Nothing I said is untrue. If you're persistent in playing, you will find it eventually. It's just logical thinking. On the flip side, you could just get lucky and find it tomorrow. Its entirely random, as I said, and as you said. But EITHER way, the longer you play, the more likely you are to find it.
You've got a better chance of finding it in 1 month than in 1 hour. Common sense.
People need to stop begging for something because they don't have it. I guarantee that once these people find it, they will be on the same side as me. Its there TO be rare. It's there TO annoy completionists. It's there TO be something to long for and look forward to.
Nothing that I said was untrue.
@flying-poopla It's not automatically bad game design if something is based on luck. If anything, its actually really good game design, as many completionists will strive to get it, and if something is rare and hard to find, it will keep people playing longer. Anyone who isn't whining knows that they will find it one day, as the longer they look, the better the chance of getting one.
@harlton-cheston THIS IS A PERFECT WAY TO THINK OF IT!!! YES! This guy deserves upvotes, cause he knows how to think. "Well Played" "Rolls on deck laughing" "Aye"
@blatantwalk4260 So what? that means nothing to me. I've sailed 10mil and haven't seen it either. nice to know you sail the seas a lot I guess?
