Sea of thieves on 144hz?

  • Hey I recently upgraded my GPU from a 1050 TI to a RX Vega 56 because I only got around 70 fps.
Now I am getting 144 fps on the Sea of every time I go on land it goes to 90 fps.
My GPU is aparently not even on 100% so could my CPU be the bottleneck here? I have an i5 8600k

  • What graphics settings do you use for each category? If you have model detail, lighting and shadows all on "Legendary" I would imagine that this is part of the problem. Generally speaking I can pull about 90 FPS while on the seas but outposts still tank down to anywhere between 70 and 55 FPS (I use a mix of Rare and Common settings and have a GTX 660 / i5 3550 for reference). There are a lot more assets (foliage and lights, in particular) on islands and outposts that present a pretty hefty drain on just about any card and CPU. Your i5 should be more than plenty to handle the load as it's newer (and better) than mine is, but I'm by no means a tech-expert. I do know that whether or not the game is reading 144 FPS, your FPS is ultimately limited by your display (monitor) so you'd need a monitor that can actually output 144hz to truly experience it.

  • Sea of Thieves lacks of optimization for constant 144fps.
I have a 144hz monitor and a 1080Ti full SSD with 32go of RAM and R7 as CPU.
Most of my parameters are on minimum except for Model and Texture which are maxed out.

  • Heyy dont know if you figured it out but today on stream we found out that you can enable fullscreen disable vsync and fps cap and all that turn on quadruple buffering in native resolution or 1080p we get on all mythic settings 142 fps steady
