Imagine how Sea of Thieves could look on next-gen Xbox

  • Sea of Thieves is a fantastic good looking game today. But imagine how it can look when the next-gen Xbox comes out. Sea of Thieves color palette and lightning is fantastic. But imagine how it can look on next-gen Xbox with raytracing. It would make the world of Sea of Thieves look absolutely insane....

But let's not forget the big CPU boost the console is getting. It shouldn't be a problem to get the game running at 60 FPS.

    I'm just really excited....are you?

  • @binaryplayerone Ahoy matey!

Of all the things on the new console... I think, that SSD will make all the difference...

It should help (or go a long way to) level the playing field all over again.

  • @musicmee Oh yes! I've got a SSD in my PC and loading times are so fast. But it's going to be even faster on the new consoles and future PC's with the new PCIe port that's coming.

    Exciting!

  • @binaryplayerone Yeah same here, I have moved both Sea of Thieves builds onto an SSD drive and the spawning in times are vastly improved. I now beat all my PC crew mates in!

  • When I first switched to the X it was an improvement, but it seems to have lessened in quality over the past few months. And the rendering is now awful.
Not sure what they have messed up?
But I will definitely be upgrading to the Scarlett when it's released.
Might have to treat myself to the new elite controller 2.0 before that though.

  • For me the most important thing are the memory issues, they can’t add new content with limited memory from the Xbox one!

  • @king-deka A new console won't fix that because they still have to be compatible with the existing consoles. The only way this gets fixed is if they release a sequel and have the Scarlet as the minimum requirements.

  • @d3adst1ck think about Game Streaming this would fix the issue, when you play on scarlet you can enjoy the game regular (retail or digital version) but when you play on one you have to stream SoT to not be separated!

  • @king-deka That would likely prevent a lot of people from playing the game at all. Game Streaming is probably going to use more bandwidth than a lot of people have available and/or it will be unusable like every other game streaming service that has come and gone.

Any features added to the game need to be able to run on the lowest supported console. They can't change the requirements after shipping the game.

  • @d3adst1ck

Release a "sequel" for the Scarlet (basically the same game, just taking advantage of the new technology), and leave the old version available, but make it free to play.

All new updates go into the new game, but the old one stays available and acts as a demo/ad for the new one.

Either way, I don't think we'll have to worry about it for awhile. If the Scarlet is as open as they make it sound, Rare will have plenty of time to support the game before they have to start thinking about a sequel or upgrade.

  • @d3adst1ck ther should be no problems with a scarlet patch for the new comsole, wich raises the graphics and rendering up, add raytracing and make it 60+ FPS

  • Updates should be available for every platform of the game. No need for a Scarlet version of the game. I think they just give Scarlet the visual and performance options like they do on the PC.

  • Or you could get a gaming PC and get more than 60 FPS right now. :p

  • @king-deka That's actually becoming less and less of an X-Box problem right now.
With MS developing cloud computing they are steadily relying more and more on the Azure to do the heavy lifting and less on the X-box and Pc themselves.
That's how they get more and more into the game without having to update the minimal specs.

It's also what they discussed during the reveal for the next gen console that they will be using the Azure AD to take some of the load from the console.

Imagine how Sea of Thieves could look on next-gen Xbox

Doing it now... gonna be amaze-balls :)

edit: have XBOX-X meself, with external SSD, has improved my game speed greatly... doesn't make me any better at piracy... pity :(
