Add a Workshop

  • Add a workshop, a new crafting station on the ship which will require planks to craft these items. Pirates were known to have carpenters on their ship for such a purpose.

    Crafts

    • Rowboat
For when you can't find any.
    • Keg
To store more grog, can be filled up at taverns.
    • Barrel
Very heavy to carry, large inventory, destructible, repairable, resource specific, cannot be sold to merchants.
    • Crate
Easy to carry, destructible, repairable, resource specific, can be sold to merchants when filled.
    • Ram Upgrade
Will do increased damage when ramming into ships.
    • Hull Upgrade
Ship is less likely to obtain holes from colliding damage.
    • Repair Hull
Takes away all the holes on your ship, putting planks should only band-aid the problem. Holes should become bigger and generate more water as shots get fired within it.

    And much much more...

So, wait, you want holes to get bigger if you shoot into the same hole?

    🤣🤣🤣

Uh... won't say much more, can't tell if you're intentionally trying to lure me into a trap.

  • @trenix90 poor solo sloopers....

I do like the idea. There were cooks, carpenters, medics.... the list goes on.

Its intriguing but makes me question, is this becoming Battlefield where each player takes on a role?

  • @trenix90 maybe not the upgrade damage portion of the ram but I like the idea of everything else it kinda sounds cool to me, I wish I could come back looking fresh to sell my loot.

  • @trenix90 I really like the idea, but remember this game is for 8 and up.. As much as id love making things more difficult, and reaaally showing my ship as a battle scarred monster after a day of sinking ships. I don't think many people would do well with major changes to the repair system.

A bit of early on crafting seems fine though. (Cannon ball crates, banana crates, wood crates, row boat, gun powder, etc)

  • @mrursenpai Don't underestimate kids and crafting! They're devils with Minecraft.
I think they'd get the hang of Sea of Thieves aswell - as long as it's pretty basic.

  • @trenix90 sounds great but i doubt the devs would do it. but it really does sound great to be able to be a shipwright. just being able to play other roles as a pirate would be great but rn it seems like they want everyone to be the same so there isnt some sort of unfairness. like they wouldnt allow you to make a ram upgrade because other people load into the server after you so it would be seen as unfair even though i dont see it that way : (

  • @d-jaguar why not? it is a pirate game, shouldnt we be able to be the kind of pirate we want to be? other than be a generic crew man

This game is rated teen, which means you have to be 13+. Who said this was for 8 year olds?

Boats give players an advantage over those that started. So do players who stockpile resources.

The game's description says that you have no set role, so we should keep it in that way. Yet we should definitely have more things to do.

Not a kid and why do people keep tagging features with other games? Crafting has never been specific to a single genre or a game. There are plenty of games with crafting and the fact that you can gather resources, means it can fit into the game very easily. Also we need more stations for ships that have almost nothing within them besides generic barrels that don't work.

  • @trenix90 on the microsoft store. Says "8 and up" go check for yourself.

  • @trenix90 by the way, for your final paragraph the dude was making a joke.. chill, minecraft is a great example though. But I imagine its like "ope 15 wood get er doooone gotteeem a baby boat" not really recipes.. but id be interested in implenting a feature like basic crafting. Plus then they can add in special materials to collect, and then use those to make special cosmetics n stuff.

On the microsoft store it says it at the bottom.

Edit : Btw I have no idea why it is in Aussie stuff.

  • @mrursenpai Yes, in my store, it's rated 13+, for yours its 8+. I'm from the US, you're from AU. For some odd reason, that makes a difference. Just check my link. Very weird. Both my windows store app and the windows store website state it's rated Teen and for ages 13+. Honestly, the T rated is reasonable being that you can get drunk and throw up, not very suitable for little kids.

  • @trenix90 Not from Australia, it is just set in that currency for who knows what reason. It was in EU, then AU, maybe it go to USD eventually.

Go on the official sea of thieves website, bottom left corner, says rating is T for Teen. I'm not sure what website you used and how you got such misleading information. You provided a picture but no source, meanwhile I can provide two sources. The official Microsoft store website and seaofthieves.com. Maybe you got to update something, no idea. This game is definitely not meant for children.

Clearly your region rates things much differently.

  • @trenix90 Like I said, I am from America. I live in Utah, but the store put my current to EU and then to AU. No idea why, but it did it.

I don't know what to tell you. If your store is using AU currency, then clearly something is wrong on your end. Again, you haven't provided a single link, just images. Everyone can post images. If you have such issues even though you're living in Utah, it's clearly wrong on your end. The store probably thinks you're in the wrong region, therefore follows a different rating system. Whatever the reason is, you should probably contact Microsoft. Wish you the best of luck.

  • @trenix90 I could careless tbh. None of the rating systems apply to me anyway, so why bother going through such a hassle to change something so minor.. Also, I tried to apply links but you cant from the app. Double also, do you really think that I photo shopped those images within the few minutes I was given. I will discord call you to show you that it is literally 8+ on mine.

Your app could be outdated, broken, or not authentic. You're also being overcharged for games, I would therefore think that you'd care about the region you're in. If your computer believes it's somewhere which it's not, you may also be going on servers which will increase your ping.

  • @trenix90 boi. You couldn't be more wrong in literally every single assumption you just made. I'll go through the list of your moronic claims, and then I am done with this. Youre literally just straw manning at this point.

    • outdated, just checked for updates a few seconds ago.

    • Broken, everything works perfect fine.

    • "Not authentic" it is literally the Microsoft store that comes with Windows 10.

    • When purchasing things from other countries, there is something called "Equal exchange" which means I pay $10 usd, and get whatever that translates into AU.

    • My ping is not affected what so ever, and I have no been put in a game with a person who had an accent yet. That is coming from someone who boards a lot, and talks with players a lot. So unless I am getting put with only Americans down in AU and everyone I play with that is in America has perfect internet, which I know they dont. My friend runs on hot spot, he would die if he tried to connect there.

    • And finally, my computer says "Mountain time" which is my time zone.

Please keep your uninformed assumptions to yourself in the future.
    Good day.

Uh... won't say much more, can't tell if you're intentionally trying to lure me into a trap.

Nah, I just find the logical fallacy behind how you said it uproariously funny. Unless the next cannonball itself is bigger than the hole or unless it hits around the edges of the hole, that hole's not getting any bigger, because said cannonball would just go through it, because as you know - it's a hole...

  • Okay, this is getting a little heated! Let's please remember to be respectful of our fellow pirates and stick to the code.

I can help clear things up a bit too- different regions have different ratings board that review games independently. So if the website is set to a different region (there will be an "en-AU" in the URL at the top of the screen, and doesn't necessarily affect anything else on the computer- switch it to "en-US" for America) you will see the ratings set by that region's board.

  • I was reading this thread and about to post the same, beat me to it thanks :) lol

  • @trenix90

A very cool idea. May i add it to this mounth Community Idea's Master List Update.

  • @enf0rcer sure

  • @d4m0r3d while it would be neat, wouldn't this give an advantage to galleons for having more sailors? This would be a greater advantage than the ram.

It would allow each session to change a bit and the game would be vastly different. It would be fun, but the solo sloopers may be outmatched.

Sid Meier's Pirates let's you recruit pirates for each profession into your ship. That was a neat and educational game.

  • @trenix90

The game's description says that you have no set role, so we should keep it in that way. Yet we should definitely have more things to do.

As people want cooking, we will have cooks. As you propose a workshop, we may have carpenters.
We already have music, gunners, navigators. Next could be medics.
The best run ships specialize, because specialization helps a ship run better. (See Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith for more on specialation)
We don't need a formal choose your specialization role. They already exist.

As solo players cannot do them all, they will have to learn to improve in certain ones.

Some more professions for us to have at the link below.

  • @d-jaguar yea sloopers would be outmatched, but me i would still love playing a game where im way outmatched. like i used to play solo rust, and solo ark. that poo is reallllyyyy hard solo but i still enjoy it. also sloopers are already outmatched rn, but if you learn the game and get good its easy to counter galleons and all other crews. personally i think a ram would benefit a sloop more, because a sloop is more manooverable, so a ram on a gally but you only hit 2 out of 5 rams but then you have a ram on a sloop and hit 5 out of 5 rams.

  • @d4m0r3d as we already ram skeleton ships and just bail water on the unsinkable sloops, there is alot of truth to your comment. (Seriously, we just keep bailing and we can survive without planks)
    We always overcome the obstacles.
