Lighting strike for white flame

  • I spent roughly 2 hours in a storm trying to get killed by lighting, I have the belt and I was in the crows nest most of the time with very low health. I'm not sure what else I can do to to increase the odds.

  • Try to anchor your boat

  • @glapie The storms move about, so maybe just reduce sail to try and stay in it. If you anchor down, eventually the storm will just move on.

@darksoul5768 I'd suggest getting as low health as possible, but then just stand on the main deck of whatever ship you're on, not the crows nest. The nest is a very small area of the ship, which I think in the game's mechanics reduces probability of being hit.

  • What belt?

  • I am an expert at this - done it many times for friends. Get down to 5% health or less. You can easily do this by climbing the center mast and jumping off to take fall damage until you're just at or below 5%. Next, get into the middle of the storm. Lightning strikes more often and more fiercely near the middle. Next, set your sail to about 1/2 to 1/4 from the top and get/stay on the captains wheel and don't move away from it. Trying to continually steer the boat always towards the middle and most darkest part of the storm.

If you find yourself getting to far away from the middle, then quickly leave the wheel, adjust sail to get you more wind and/or power, and get right back on the wheel and stay there. Should hit you within 30 minutes easily.

Obviously, doing all of this requires a partner to patch holes and bail water the entire time, or you'll sink. If you have a partner, then they can control the sails too - to help you when the eye of the storm is getting to far away from you, but don't have them up top jumping/running around or you'll only have a 50% chance at getting hit because the storm will RNG on their character too and you'll split the difference. Try to have any teammate stay below deck.

  • It shouldn't take long to get struck by lightning. One night we were anchored off of Wanderer's Refuge while a storm rolled in over us. I saw a skelly ship coming so I took a row boat with 3 powder kegs in it and headed for the enemy. I didn't get 10 feet away from our boat when lightning struck the row boat, igniting the powder kegs and disintegrating me.

Do something ridiculous like carry a powder keg on deck during a storm and the game will make sure you get struck.

  • @all

Thank you for all your input I was able to get kill by lightning finally. I was able to complete the festival of the damn!

  • @kiethblacklion did that result in you getting the white light even though you died to the powder keg?

  • @quacks-of-fire Killed by keg doesn't count. Whether the lightning triggered it or not doesn't matter.

  • @crimsonraziel Does it tho? Are you sure?
I know that if a player shoots a GPB that's near you and it explodes you'll get a pink flame.
If a skeleton ignites a barrel or slashes a nearby barrel you get a green flame.
If this logic persists lightning igniting a barrel should produce a white flame.

I've never been in this situation so I have no proof, but the way other flames work in regards to gunpowder barrels gives credit to the claim.

  • @hynieth Well, I'm sure about it being the case back then. I thought this was an easy way solve that for the entire crew at once. I never tried to get me killed by lightning after day 2 of the Festival of the Damned, so I don't know if this has changed.

  • My trick was to hurt yourself so you only have a sliver of health then the first strike that gets you kills you. (I also find being at the helm, but you can be anywhere on deck really)

  • @darksoul5768

    Go fishing! lol

I have been fishing for stormfish and have gotten struck by lightning 4 times since the update. Honestly, wasn’t even trying to get hit. It’s getting annoying now. It definitely helps to stand still. Also, you need to get your health down as low as possible so one strike will kill you
