HACKERS UGH

  • Everyone says you guys are gonna fix the whole PC hacker c**p that happens. I was just on playing a skull fort and I get killed with one knife whack by a PC player but I have to shoot him at least twice and he didn't die. I refuse to buy this game until u people make it fair. You say we should be fair with what we say or do on there but u continuously allow people on PC to hack. I refuse to give u my money until its fixed.

  • @zombiegirl42012 as a fellow console player, I can understand your frustration at situations where there is perceived cheating.

However, more often than not situations like these have more to do with latency and ISP issues than with cheaters.

The server locations, your internet speed, your opponents internet all play a roll in what your seeing happen when. So, while it may look like you are landing blows, or they are absorbing bullets, it behooves no one to jump to the conclusion of cheating. It only serves to drive a wedge in what could be a brilliantly integrated community.

  • @pink-geek-chic tools do exist, so it's possible. Hopefully rare is looking into it

  • @zombiegirl42012 I am aware that they exist, but too often everything gets blamed on them, when there are other perfectly logical and reasonable explinations.

By jumping to the hack conclusion, it is creating an environment where console players look at PC players as cheats, and PC players look at console players as whiners.

This isn't healthy for the community as a whole. Not every seamingly unfair situation are hackers. Yes, there are some bad apples, but let's not assume the entire orchard is infected....

  • dude thats not hacks or cheats its your latency even if you get hit mark if you laging it does not mean you hit him also people can survive 2 shoots next time recort such events as evidence, and please dont say all PC players are hackers the console games are also filled with cheaters dont put a*s all in one bag

  • I can't speak for the OP's particular issue, and I'm fully aware of what @Pink-Geek-Chic is talking about when it comes to latency, but despite being an Insider, Founder, and Pioneer and having played since the closed alpha I had a personal revelation the other day.

You see, I often cried about our PC opponent's advantages, and to some degree, I still do - just not as much as I used to. Some players can seemingly move faster, but I realized that it wasn't because of M&K or even what platform they might have been on - it was likely because of something they knew that I didn't, despite my experience.

So, what was this personal revelation, you ask? Well, to be honest, I'm kind of embarrassed to admit it, but I'm sharing it here because while many of you may already know about it, I'm also certain that, like me, many of you don't know about it.

    So, WHAT IS IT!?

In a word - dodging. Nowhere in the controls or tutorial does it show you how to do this (BTW, @Rare-Employee, it should 😉), but while holding your cutlass, all you have to do is block. Then while blocking, press any direction and jump at the same time. Doing this causes you to "evade" in the direction you pressed. It looks like a shallow hop with decent range, and has a 1 second cool-down time. The best part? It can be used in ANY direction, even forward in an offensive manner.

A friend showed me this, and it blew my mind that I never figured this out on my own (and I'm an adult!), and I'd like to know if I just did the same for you. That said, if you already knew about this, then good for you (just be polite, and don't rub it in)!

The reason I bring this up is because, like @Pink-Geek-Chic already surmised, there are multiple factors at play, and ignorance is 1 of them. I thought many pirates that were besting me might've been on PC with M&K, but in truth, they may have just been dodging all along. Don't be ignorant - do your research, consider all of the options, figure things out, and when you think you've exhausted them all, then make your case, argument, or complaint.

Good luck upon the waves, and GG, from GG! ✌😅 🌊☠

  • @zombiegirl42012

Rare have a zero tolerance policy towards those who use 3rd party cheats etc in the game.

The best way to help them counter this and ban players found to be using these is to submit a detailed report via Support with as much detail as possible.

Joe mentioned recently that the incidence they've found is a very small proportion of players, following their investigations which will continue with each report they receive.
They are quite clear that this is unacceptable behaviour and actions will be taken.

  • @zombiegirl42012 simple question is, how do you know this is a PC player? Or are you just assuming that it's a PC hacker because they were better than you, because that's what it seems like.

  • 2 days ago i played with a mixed crew 2 pc players 2 xbox players

the enemy crew was yeling cheaters, ;).i mean i dont say there r no cheaters ,but mostly people r just good or its the latency

  • @pink-geek-chic well said.

  • @pink-geek-chic Thankyou for handling this reply in a very matter of fact manner. Not enough of this kind of approach on the forums.

@zombiegirl42012 As you can see from this thread, there are a vast range of potential reasons for your experience. Also, try to remember that the PC population is less than a quarter of the players on this title. Closer I believe to 14%.
Of those players most have no interest in cheating and risking lifetime bans for a game that, here in Australia, costs $100.
As for these type of experiences. Report with Gamertag and time of incident. If you can take a clip using the record that function while you wait on the ferry of the damned and add that before move on with your day, all the better.
If there was foul play it will be handled appropriately. If not you have done your part to keep the community safe from potential problem players and assist Rare in determining unfair play practices.

  • I've watched streamers that are so good at PvP that they constantly get accused of cheating. It's laughable. If you are accusing someone of cheating there is actually a 95% chance you just got outplayed or are dealing with lag or some other factor. The actual amount of cheating in this game is a exponentially lower than the amount of people accused of cheating.

I'm on PC and I sail with a controller and switch to K&M for combat because the sensitivity on the controller even at max is no where near what can be achieved with a mouse. Rare tried to fix it but need to tweak it even more.
