Purchase resource crates

  • I would love to see the ability to use in game funds to purchase empty crates to store resources in. One crate for each item (potentially one per ship): Banannas, cannon balls, and planks.

Something permanently in one's inventory so you can take to shore. Would be nice so that a crew does not have to continually scower an island for them and run back and forth to empty pockets on the ship.

  • Nice idea @codename-jenova !

Although this may affect how the 1000 banana crates achievement might work and they may not want that.

But I AM 100% in favour!

  • When you are in a major battle with good players it would be helpful to have a little extra resources stored away.

  • Nice to have cannonballs right next to the cannons on a galleon too.

  • But, how much would they be???

  • @Musicmee It would not affect the achievement at all. If you look at the achievement you need to deliver 1,000 banana crates on schedule. So you would still have to find the messages in a bottle that ask for a crate and then it’s given to you anyways. Also great idea Jenova!

  • @cmadnessv True... well spotted, in my defense it was late.... I know.... no excuse!

  • @cmadnessv & @Musicmee thank you! Thought about it as Mikez and I were running all over shark bait and discovery looking for banannas while running a souls voyage, fighting off skellies, and continually finding empty barrels.

@SkeletonPirateX - I dunno. I'm sure the collective creative genius that is Rare will figure out an in game amount that will be good (and probably expensive... But I'd pay it to always have one of each crate in my inventory).

  • @codename-jenova This is a great idea😁😁😁

  • @nemo-terminator thanks!

  • As a nice idea as this is and we would all want it. It potentially would be a game breaker.

That's why the are so rare now. To have cannon balls right by cannons for example increases your DPM as you don't have to travel as far to gather more. That would be bad news for someone that doesn't know or just doesn't have them on their ship.

Now for bananas and wood. Possible but I somehow would have to be say limited to 1 per ship to keep fairness all around and not break the game.

Right now stock count isn't that bad on the ship and the numbers work well if you manage properly your stock.

  • @Deckhands can someone move this post? I had no idea it was in the wrong thread - I thought it was going in Feedback & Suggestions. TIA!

  • @codename-jenova your wish is my command :D

pls pls pls pls ADD THIS FEATURE

  • @lizalaroo you are a gem! Thank you.

As it stands right now the only way to get a crate is a random chance from a bottle and they are much more valuable as a resource container, than turning it in. (Rip Accomodation)

Or finding a random one washed up on a beach. Which the odds of that are slim too.

Unfortunately, this is why I'm against the idea. Being able to place cannonball storage up top at will is unbalancing in my opinion,

I understand your point - but I don't think that this would be a game breaker. Cannonballs are already close to the cannons on a sloop.

I more meant it for being able to carry bananas and planks - having to constantly go back and forth filling pockets 5 at a time- when there is only 1 or 2 people in a crew is time consuming. Especially when most barrels that you come across are empty - then you come across one that has say 12 bananas. so you need to go back and fourth from ship to barrel 3 times - potentially having to traverse a large island like shark bait. A crate you bring with you would be immensely helpful.

And yes, it would have to one crate per item, potentially per ship. - I did mention that in my OP.

The idea was meant more for banana's and planks.

  • This would be nice since my crew uses these crates to access cannonballs easily

  • I've battled crews that had cannonballs on their deck and we still sunk them. Resources are only one part of the battle. Gunpowder barrels and ship boarding are also essential to taking down ships. I just don't see any reason why you can't buy empty crates from merchants.

  • @codename-jenova what a great idea!

I would like to buy the animals "crates" too.

when you sink you have to cancel the voyage

  • @codename-jenova Yea the cannon crate would be more towards a galleon then a sloop. But if say we don't get those and just get planks and bananas I think that would be amazing like you said to complement your ship and as its hard to find them sometimes.

But even at that. If they allow say one of all three boxes per boat and an ability to not stock any more then its not game breaking. But if they let you have unlimited amount of boxes then that could be game breaking. But I agree it would nice to have them.

  • @canadianmuscle3 I agree. If it happens I'll be extatic. If no, oh well was a good idea.

  • @codename-jenova YEEESSSS!!!! We need this so bad also be able to buy animal cages. so we can just pick up chickens and stuff as we go not have to get a ton of missions and cancel them, less time at the outpost when you spawn the better.

  • My problem is that it will greatly increase pvp. Think about it. Every boat now can buy a piece of loot for ne to steal. I like crates as much as the next guy but if you buy them I plan to steal them.

Captain Evil says, "One BILLION GOLD!!!!!!"

    Going by current SoT rates.

Lolz - sounds like a fair price.

  • Awfull idea, those who played the game would have immense amounts of gold at their disposal, giving them too much of an advantage over newer/poorer players. Also, the fact that it trivializes gathering resources is not a good thing.

  • @chief-beef-dsp thank you

  • @codename-jenova I love the idea, it would be so awesome to have the sloop hull filled with crates of excess supplies. Honestly the more variety the things we can merchant the better in my books!

However like others have pointed out, there are a few game balance issues around it that need to be thought through. War of attrition would favour ships with near endless supplies from playing for hours.

I honestly wouldn't mind if they made these crates input-only. So once you had placed items inside you could no longer get them back. Although I appreciate that doesn't seem realistic and negates that - emptying your pockets benefit.

  • @macdoland yes crates and crates of supplies is unrealistic. However one crate would not be a game breaker per se. One extra crate for supplies per ship was the original premis. Equipable like a figurehead on your ship or a pegkeg on your pirate... You can only have one.

  • @codename-jenova Oh yeah! Apologies, I misread the OP.

  • @macdoland No worries.
