Smuggler Caches Spawn Rate Feels Extremely Low / Hard to Complete Commendations

    I would like to share feedback regarding Smuggler Caches.

    I spent around 3 hours sailing between islands and carefully checking shorelines, beaches, and coastal areas where Smuggler Caches are supposed to appear. During that time, I was not able to find a single cache.

    I understand that Smuggler Caches are meant to be random and not guaranteed to appear on every island. However, the current spawn rate feels extremely low, to the point where completing related commendations and achievements becomes more frustrating than fun.

    This does not feel like a normal challenge, but more like waiting for very rare RNG with no clear way to progress. It would be great if the team could review the current spawn rate or consider adding more reliable ways to find Smuggler Caches.

    Possible improvements:

    Slightly increase the spawn rate of Smuggler Caches.
    Add visual clues or hints when a cache is nearby.
    Make them more likely to appear near active smuggler routes.
    Add a voyage, map clue, or event that helps players locate them.
    Make sure the caches are still spawning correctly after recent updates.

    Thank you for reading. I really enjoy Sea of Thieves, but this specific activity currently feels too difficult to progress through because the caches are so rare.

    Feels like it was only last Season people complained it spawn way to much and wanted it reduced.

    All the loot that appears in smuggler caches also appears in Smuggler Shipwrecks.

    These are definitely not rare.

    Sail around, investigate every shipwreck.
    Sail to Reaper Chest/Reaper Bounty spawn points.

    I am always looting them and leaving the Floral Rum crates in favour of the Golden variety.

    Hi, thanks for the advice.

    I have already sailed around and checked multiple shipwrecks, but I haven’t found a single piece of Smuggler loot in them so far. I specifically looked for items related to Smuggler Caches, but every shipwreck I checked had normal loot only.

    Maybe I was just unlucky, but after spending a lot of time searching, it really doesn’t feel like the Smuggler loot is appearing there reliably. That’s why I’m trying to understand if the spawns are bugged, extremely rare, or if there are specific shipwrecks/spawn points where they are supposed to appear.

    I have been actively looking as well for days, along with some other friends as well, and we have found absolutely NOTHING. We all just need that final commendation so that we can continue with working towards getting the curse.

    It's really frustrating. I'm not sure if the spawn rate is bugged or not, but it's not appearing at all.

    @vimerxl it will tell you its a smuggler shipwreck by the banner. It will be a yellow banner with the sunken ship name instead of the greenish one. But the smuggler shipwrecks are great to find the things you need. Just keep looking for them. I see smuggler loot normally at Old Faithful, all the skeleton camps almost always have some, The skeleton forts also. So stop at those as well when they aren't active and look. Also the smuggler voyage you can only get a couple of those items for the commedations from that specific voyage.

    I've definitely seen them recently in sessions so they ain't bugged.
    Spawn rate was nerfed after the Smuggler Season.

    All I can suggest is stay on one server and just sail around checking all islands and forts.
    Will be a good way to get Island captains anyway and maybe get some Reaper Chest spawns for dubs so won't be entirely unproductive.

    @pc-monkfish I've been doing so for the past 3 days. We stay on the same server, crossing island after island, and still haven't seen anything. If you've found some, then give me some of your luck please, because I'm just about finished trying at this point. xD
