Saying Goodbye to The Arena
Our Live Operations team are currently investigating our options regarding achievements linked to The Arena. As soon as we have a final plan, we'll update the Key Questions part of the Saying Goodbye to The Arena article

Your right, they are gifts. And I am extremely grateful that Rare recognizes the community members that put in the work to reach lvl 50, and play arena.
As for everyone complaining about missing out on the ships sets that were given as a gift for reaching lvl 5 in Seadogs. They have no one to blame but themselves.
The thing about the levels though is that you could literally buy them from Duke/Larinna and hit level 50 without the effort. It's not the same as the Sea Dog commendations that ACTUALLY required work and couldn't all be cheesed.
As someone whose never played arena I do hate to see it go, some of my friends enjoyed it. Personally I do wish I had visited at least once, if only to see Lesedi, my pirate's got a flower for her, found it on an island, never got around to visiting the Sea Dogs tavern though. I wonder what'll come of the place.
Speaking of, without the arena, think she'd take in an outpost-less pirate and his pet monkey? Alternatively, there's room on my- I mean his ship for her as well. lol
@icymethodman sagte in Saying Goodbye to The Arena:
@meroviel these compensations are not even close to the effort and time put into arena. What about legendary sea dogs? U gonna give those weapons for any pirate legend now?
240 wins and no compensation? And what's going to happen to triumphant sea dog set? Is that set that took 200 combined wins to complete just going to be another doubloon sink? We need proper compensation and not already premade ships from 3years ago.. c'mon Rare, take away arena fine but compensate properly..
You got 240 wins...so you got those legendary weapons nobody will be able to earn them anymore after the 10th of March...isn't that enough?

@thedoctorbrown Arena have been going for approx. 2 years? Is that not enough time to get to level 50? Even playing casually?
For my part, no. I prefer to introduce my friends to the game through the Tall Tales, to see their reaction to their first Kraken, to try to get the chests out of the vaults as fast as possible.
Yes, I am a player that can be called PVE, but I loved the Arene at the beginning, and the continuation attracted me less.
So yes, I regret this decision, which is seriously tainting my enjoyment of the game... I understand that they want to "thank" the big arena players, but I think this decision is very bad.I think they should give out the triumphant and glorious sea dog set to everyone to purchase because the bar for the achievement was way too high for them when I've played Arena and especially now with a month to go. It was too hard from the start, it wasn't worth the effort and still isn't but I really like the Triumphant seadog set and have wanted it since I got the game in 2019.
@realstyli that’s why I like KlutchxKing’s suggestion. Make the Midnight Prowl set available for players who achieved all Sea Dog commendations. That way there could be a good distinguishable way of seeing the “True” Legendary Sea Dogs.
@lizalaroo said in Saying Goodbye to The Arena:
@xray-i-iluziaa Rare cares very much about its players. They could have closed Arena today and given you nothing.
Maybe so, but announcing that arena is closing and then not giving people the opportunity to get every reward is kind of disappointing. I know that you can still work on the commendations until March, but I'm specifically talking about the level 50 Good Boy set. Why not make the cutoff the same for all cosmetics and rewards? I'm rank 45 in Arena and was planning to work my way to 50 before the cutoff date in March. Then I saw the small note that today is the cutoff for the Good Boy set. It is what it is, but it would have been cool if the cutoff was in alignment with the others. So, I'll just shut up and color.

Yep. I agree. I won't get it but that seems fitting.
@elieeleye SERIOUSLY!! I have been grinding arena for mooonths trying to hit 50 for the figurehead and title. I hit 45 two nights ago and then read this today?! AT LEAST give everyone the opportunity to grind out what they can until the new season! That’s insane!
I'm just a bit confused about this part:
We have made the decision to give out these ship cosmetics as a reward for participation in The Arena up to now, so you will no longer be able to head into The Arena and earn them. They are to show our gratitude to everyone who has supported and enjoyed The Arena up to this point.
This means that even if i got to lvl 50 before march 10 i wouldn't receive the Good Boy ship set, right?@endershade96 you can still visit the Tavern and play Arena until 10th March :) Don't miss this opportunity!
I'm exclusively a PVP player and have been since 2019, I have only done one Tall-Tale and found it incredibly boring. I don't like any of the PVE content. I get every season pass, I have over 500 hours. After seeing how much Rare has been upsetting their player base especially the PVP player base recently, I really, really don't have a ton of hope for this game and all I can say is that it was nice while it lasted.
As an Commendation hunter this hurts I was lvl 46 but with alot going on in Adventure ai never got the chance to finish and get to 50 and finish Commendations. I hope there will be a way to get that ship set in a different way because I was looking forward to it and to fall 4 lvls shorts hurts. I may have to lay down sea of thieves for a bit to get over my anger of not getting this set.
@elieeleye Please. Even if its just another week longer. I'm literally level 49 in arena and I can legit finish the grind today.
As someone who is planning to reach 50 before closing of this mode, Im feeling little scammed of best ship set (The Good Boy). At least you could give us a warning, like hey: if you want it, just hit 50 before closing the arena. Letting us know at the very moment that the time is up is...a pretty bad communication method. Just 2hrs ago, missing Arena and it cosmetics wasnt a thing, so saying after the preview that the time is up is a tad silly o.O
@fullsets92 Correct!
We want to award the Good Boy to those that engaged with Arena during it's life span. While understand the frustration this is a way of us celebrating the most engaged Arena players and it would not be fair to allow people to grind for it at the end.
@ninja-naranja said in Saying Goodbye to The Arena:
@realstyli neither will I. I only hit level 50 in the faction a months or so ago.
I'm not level 50 but I could have bought my way there by now, and that's the whole thing with locking The Good Boy behind the levels, when they hardly mean anything.
That's why I suggested that it also be available to purchase for real money, in support of a dog charity, at least do some good with all this FOMO. And those who are level 50, well they'd get it free anyway. Just a thought.

It's not fair to those who were almost there at less than half a level...
@needsmokes Well I believe you still have time, until March 10th, to get to LSD and get the weapons. Correct? Only the ship cosmetics will not be obtainable after today.
@lizalaroo said in Saying Goodbye to The Arena:
@theodyssey96 Unfortunately no matter what date is announced as the cut-off date there will always be those who will miss out. Sorry me matey.
Just because "there will always be someone who misses out" doesn't justify leaving out people who would have gotten to 50 in the next couple of days.
You could justify any arbitrary surprise deadline with that logic.
"We are giving this ship set to anyone that got level 50 on this data specifically, it's fine, someone will always miss out"
