To the late night solo cruisers - EST anywhere from 11pm-7am

  • @ElfOnAshelf52 Late night Solo Slooping is my Jam! I have recently been making friends with newer players I meet on the forum or through random matchmaking and teaming up for "Two to Sloop" (trademarking this!) voyages. It can be near impossible to find a friend and their boat but keeping to the Neutral-ish idea you have for your play style teaming with one other may be your cup of tea.

    I am on Sunday-Thursday usually, 9pm-1am EST. #gamingparent haha

  • I'm on EST USA and I've matched with people from germany/france as well as some well spoken people from the UK and im pretty sure at least one Australian (i want to say mate all the time now). I usually use the pings (im on PC) to confirm. ping is usually 60ish for local and up to 150 or more for farther servers. I usually play after work so, 6 to 11ish

  • I am on frequently late at night and frequently am solo-slooping. I do this most nights till I have been chased by enough galleons then I do the random crew thing. So yes I'd be happy to team up.

  • My husband works nights so on weekends he's on late at night (Eastern US). I play with him in the mornings when he gets off work for a few hours and on weekends until I am about to pass out.

I am loving this thread and all the posts from similar people!

  • I think there are a lot of us playing like this. /wave

  • Ironically, if we all crew up together, here & there, we won't be solo slooping anymore... ;D

  • I'm another solo sloop driver...East Coast Time U.S. but at odd hours across the day. If you see my name you can be assured I'll toss an ahoy across the waters rather than a cannonball :-D

It is amazing how I can go hours and not see a soul then the wind turns and I get deluged with folks in my wake. Such is life I suppose.

  • @elfonashelf52 Join Fleet of Thieves. you will find people to play with any time. https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/30356/join-the-fleet-of-thieves-official-recruitment-pc-xb1-discord-add-a-unique-twist-to-your-sot-experience/1647

  • I posted this in another, similar thread. Seems worth adding here. I was at an outpost and had just turned in my swag so was not at risk for losing anything when I saw a sloop coast up to the dock. The individual rang their ship's bell multiple times. Hopped off...ran up to the Merchants, picked up a cage...then repeated this for a second cage. Got back on their vessel, hit the bell multiple times and headed out to sea. So simple. I started playing one of my musical instruments during that time to show I was not planning on taking pot shots at them. Later I was on an island exploring...something I do often. No voyage on deck...just exploring. The same sloop pulled into a cove. Rang their ship's bell multiple times and headed ashore. I was leaving so rang my bell multiple times and headed out to sea. Like anything this could be used for good or evil, but it's hard to sneak up on someone after you've rang your ship's bell a few times. Worthy of note I thought.

Oh...and I've also noted a few sloops turning their cannons as far skyward as possible. Think I'll start doing that as well since I rarely trade shots with others...just lead them on a merry chase till I get bored.

Good tip! Announce yourself, declare your non- violent intentuons, get on with your business... Bell ring might become a thing!

I don't load my cannons anymore... Used to be up there with turning off all my lamps upon first boarding, but now...
I don't raise them (keep other ships guessing)- but if I need to fire (mostly OoS skelly groups on the shore), I load as I need... I seem to do far more looking, evading & skulking/ hiding than cannon shooting, funnily enough... ;D

  • @elfonashelf52 I'm always rollin solo cause I usually just want to cruise

    (Eastern US)

How dare you use my nation's coat of arms as your identity, yer scurvy ridden yanky scallywag.

We shall meet on Lonely Isle at dawn, back to back, with pistols drawn.
Each shall take ten paces apart, neither shall cheat by an early start.
We shall turn to face our certain doom, you flash your lantern and I'll play a tune. :o)

  • @katttruewalker eastern standard time usually anywhere from 11pm-7am depending on how my night goes.

  • @honestfuture85 yes i have played during the day as well its more chaotic and crowded and more exciting i dig the whole cruise and laid back play much better.

  • @detroit-moose i know exactly what you mean and couldnt agree more.

  • @elfonashelf52 It depends on what part of the world you hail from, but in BST/GMT, I too am a late night solo slooper.

  • @specialadvisor yes i have read in a few places that aiming the cannons up to the sky and kerping your lights on are meant to be a clear sign that you are friendly not everyone excepts this.

  • @mr-spiderhead est US good sir

  • @tigergiggles always

  • its glacial, but i think i'm seeing people become more open to coexisting in the world without warring. i was on a 2 man sloop last night, having just unloaded all our loot, when a galleon pulled up right next to us on the docks. i felt like a surfer who sees a 15 ft shark glide by. to my surprise they went about their business, while i readied the sloop to leave. then my silly random teammate started swimming to them. all heck broke loose and they started firing at me. just in the nick of time i got the sails down, repaired the hole, and got to the open sea. his dumb move aside, i think players are trying to respect the outposts as unsafe safe zones.

sorry, off tc's topic, but relevant to the theme. if anybody wants to duo sloop send me a pm here. my current tag isn't my forum name.

Your post reminds me of my wife, in that I feel it could be written in her voice. The two of you sound similar. Preferring smaller ships/solo but willing to do more. Enjoying the game for it's vagaries and not some image of pvp perfection or forced grind.

To me, your just looking for casual mates to enjoy your time with.

Hit me up in xbox app as "Blooddoll22". Either I or my wife KillerMOMof5 will respond, though she's very quiet and doesn't express an online presence much so I am a better source of contact.

Kraken's Spawn also sounds like an excellent fit for a player of your interests.

We have capable pirates among us, but our desired experience is one of a laid back, yet social clan.

So far, seems we have that! I invite you to investigate us. Or at the least, myself, as I think we'd have fun together in game - as may my wife should you two cross paths.

  • @tigergiggles always the more to cruise that are alike the better.

  • @elfonashelf52

Ahoy! My husband and I are usually on late nights sloopin' it up. We have met some really awesome players out there in the late nights on the sea. We have also met some..... not so awesome players. Such as life in the game, eh?
We are always on the lookout to help others and have done so on a number of occasions. If ya ever need some sloop help, help with skellies, or just want to enjoy a tankard of grog - look us up. We play on both the xbox and the PC.
GoThIcM3rCy and CpnAnneBonny at your service!

Keep your sails full and your tankard empty!

  • @elfonashelf52 I usually play at night. 11 pm to 7am the other night. On top of work and kids, night is my. I live on the East coast of Canada.

  • Love the flow of this thread!
My brother and I play passive sloop play most evenings. Might have casually passed by a few of ye swarthy sea dogs on occasion!
Feel free to share a grog and a song with us! Anytime you see the lil' Green Bastad graced by Poseidon's tribute on our bowsprit, you know you are in good company!
(not to say we be the only ones rocking this particular combination of aesthetics)
Keep up the good vibes everyone!

  • I'm a late night player in the mid-west USA. I usually have 1 or two of me mates with me, but there's always room for another friendly pirate. We're usually on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights. Feel free to add me and sail with us anytime.

  • This is by far the most wonderful thread I have read. I haven't sailed in about a week (too busy in rl) but reading all of your posts has made me so excited about the future of our community! I love the bell idea! I will use that along with my cannons pointing to the sky.

Thank you, Captains! You made my night!

  • @elfonashelf52 I'm normally late night, and don't attack in the late hours unless provoked.

  • Neat idea while we're all here,

How should we signal each other? Couple bell rings? Specific latern lit?

Be cool to be able to say hi

  • @jimmy-voorhees
A coupla bell rings seems to be an emerging thing... The code of the late night sloopers!!! lol ;D

  • Lol i solo late (central usa) sometimes and it seem to be the best crowd. The Oceania players are oftain the top of that list.

  • @jimmy-voorhees this is a great idea i will definalty do the bell ring if it turns out to be a not so friendly sloop and they attack me at least i will go into battle with a jolly tune haha

    Agreed...one truly never knows.

I always run dark (no lamps)...just one less draw to the other ships on the horizon at night :-D

  • I roll with cannons up but loaded, but I always turn my lights off. Even if I want people to see me as friendly, I don't want to signal my location to the unfriendly. I was on a random match with a Galleon crew last night who saw a sloop with cannons up and were openly laughing that they planned to sneak up and then attack knowing the other ship would likely not attack first being a sign of peace evident. I truly debated Kegging our ship, but I had too much treasure to loose. So I fired cannons no where near it to scare him off.

Anyone looking to sloop chat are welcome to shoot me a message if I'm on.
