SERVERS IMPORTANT!

  • I keep missing the idea and it seems other people are aswell on this topic.
How can we sail with our friends if they have there own ship? I've yet to see any mention of this being chamged and i've briefly heard that there is no regional matchmaking due to people finding people from all over the world in the alpha. I look forward to sailing with my gf in our own ships however i fear this will be almost impossible with random servers to run into someone you know and if you spend the time to meet them you may never see them again unless they are part of your ship.... :-(

  • Well I was not in the technical alpha but if that is what happens and there is no way to match with your real friends; they have stated they have plans after launch that they will keep updating the game. I think they will add the feature eventually.

  • The idea of larger ships, and crews for the ships we had in Alpha, has been greatly discussed on the forums, for pretty much as you said. People want to sail with people, we want to have a crew with our crew....so far we can't do that with anymore than 4.

I know I had more than 4 of my friends and family in the Alpha, not all being able to play together was a bit of a b****r. Anecdotally, it was agreed across the board that larger crews and multi-ship fleets will be key to this game staying alive, along with other key features.

  • @jbjfun From what I understand Rare's concern regarding this comes from the part where they limit the number of ships per instance. If people can join their friends, but as their own crew, they can essentially team up to bully the rest of the server. Imagine guild fleets of 3-4 ships just hunting down the poor other few ships over and over again.

I DO sympathize with what you're looking for (I tend to play games with 5-6 friends myself), but until they sort out a better way to solve the above problem, I don't expect to see this change.

  • @labarge28
I appreciate this however i do plan on pushing for a possible solution, because thats still possible and sailing with a second ship adds a million little dynamics to the game like actually using coordinates and naval stratagy. I've done so over game chat and we fought lots of people, it was hard but very fun to coordinate an assault, this is even seen in game as a dynamic sloops follow, usually teaming to take on gallions, so why not do so on purpose ❤️

This is using a somewhat extreme example to cover for a problem, instead of addressing the problem itself. The Alpha flat-out felt empty, sailing for hours between finding another ship, if running into another at all. Myself and brother had several play sessions where we simply didn't encounter another play. Browsing the forums this is hardly a unique experience with the alpha.

The point is that there is a long ways between 4 man crews and 4 ship fleets. We need to find the balance that is healthy for the game and player engagement. Not just wash your hands of it and wait for someone else to do it.

I enjoyed the alpha... and this attack is unnecessary. Im very much so only specifying how me and my friend can get together in 2 ships without sending a crew member to steal one that will disapear if you leave, even just tweek how a ship can be doubled, there ship respawned and we still had their original however when we got to port it despawned

  • There's a chance you can match up with friends, but I don't think Rare wants you sailing in separate ships within your crew.

Pshhh says them ima be sitting there with all the boats on the server trying to sail them all in a straight line, defending from the crews bound to the vessels x-p sounds like a treat + how am i supposed to steal everything as a pirate if it despawns cause it "belongs to someone else" ... haha this is all good fun but ...... oh my gosh i got it ....... Servers that allow fleets and servers that don't.... you just either force only 4 people or whatever for your boat to be able to join and another where people in game can invite people from outside the game into there server as long as theres room also private servers so me and my friends can duel each other!!!! I FOUND THE GOLDEN TICKET .... I GOTTA TELL PA Runs to message developers

Anyone agree upvote so they see this (Mod Edited) that says stuff i swear

  • @jbjfun for me this sounds like the only possible solution that would work, however there are people who oppose it because the player base would be split into fleet an non fleet mode. In 3 months or so we will see how things will work.

  • My advice is .....

  • I have a feeling skull and bones AC: BF had something to do with this “fleet” talk. People are never satisfied, as it stands, the game is pretty good. With bigger crews, those who want to play the game as I’m single player will be dissuaded even further. Some of you are saying that private servers should exist... private servers just for you and your friends? So basically you find treasure, kill skeletons with your eyes closed, and sell all the booty without pvp risks. Literally a “walk in the park”. Public servers with the ablility to invite all ur friends? So like a dictatorship where anyone who isn’t a so called “friend” (anyone who basically doesn’t go your way) you are able to a) grief them
    b) kick them out of the server or c) team up with “friends” against them (basically... grief them... again)

  • @jbjfun lol just trying to lighten the mood a little I know it’s annoying. I completely agree with you but I know from watching videos that the devs did this to prevent a lot of pvp issues.
I believe it’s way of preventing massive fleets taking over an entire server like what happened with tribes in arc survival evolved.

  • @red0demon0
    These were never intended
I would love to sail in a ship while my girlfriend sails in her own ship next to me in this beautiful game without having to reload the game 100 times and go to the same island in hopes were together.
People keep trying to take my idea's and tell me what inspired them when i've already said what inspired them

  • So i met a fellow and he belives what i do not and it frustrates me however i do not chatize him for it instead i learn about it and how he feels about my beliefs and its the same we both think we belive stupid c**p but we respect each other, i belive its human and while its 100 % necessary to disagree and discuss why, you gotta not be an a**e about it and c**p on people or else people don't hear whats being said and chaos ensues were understanding can not be met because no one is listening and everyone is talking

  • @jbjfun hey you played the alpha right? I know there is a NDA so don’t answer this. But could she not join your server by joining your game? Then leave your crew and sail her own ship? She would be in the same server with you but not one the same boat. Would this not work?

  • @jbjfun
Well in your case you should be able to invite crew members only (up to 3 other players) as your gf is only one other player and then you guys can use the small ships instead of the galleons to sail the seas. That I’m ok with, what I’m not ok with is that some people actually want to monotonize a whole server for themselves. It’s not fair for a crew in a public server to have to go through hell for 3k worth chest while a another crew in a private server unites everyone (or almost everyone) to steal 3k chest from an island like taking candy from a baby.

  • @zombie-p1ague
Atm leave crew= leave game and stealing a ship isn't a thing, yet at least. we stole a ship and took it as far away as possible trying to break the crew spawn and make a new ship load for them, we succeded and duplicated there ship but it disappeared after we turned our backs on it and this is all hypathetical

  • @jbjfun
I don’t know who you are directing your comment to but I just want to make it clear that I’m in no way shape or form referring to you. Like i said before” I’m specifically talking about people who wish to monotonize/ hijack the servers for themselves (which is some form of piracy transcendence that I feel destroys the gameplay). I understand your point of view and hope that they do add some way to find your friends or loved ones easier.

  • @red0demon0
Ah i see how the grind could be affected but doesn't being united sound better .... what if a server of randoms manages to all work together? get big enough and they can either join or be blown up by people you found who want to join forces. You see this excists now, the only reason i hear against it is "bullies and game mechanic manipulators" so no one gets it because everyone is scared of the "Unity of the trolls?" that seems even more silly then technical issues to me

  • @jbjfun
Id love to see the spanish fleet and the british fleet. what if only players with good behavour can have a fleet?
""oh jeez thats the navy lets steer clear boys"

I love the gallion with my hardy crew and she wants a sloop to captain alone, she's all about that feminine power

  • @jbjfun wait wait you talking about trolls uniting. I thought that only happens during a blood moon when Haleys comet is in view and mercury is in retrograde after a solar eclipse and the Cubs have won the pennant again.

Trolls don’t work together it’s why they are trolls they have no friends

  • @jbjfun
Ah I see what you mean. Idk I’m trying to look at it from more than one perspective (as I’m sure you can understand) from your perspective i can definitely see the greatness in adventuring together. But if you look at it from a different view, it’s basically a whole crew who has invited Another ship to join as a fleet. (This is still not bad, randoms do this some of the time and it’s wonderful). However if we take that idea to the extreme (say that one person has many friends or has a community pirate crew, invites them all into a server, forms a giant fleet that takes up almost the whole server/ a large portion of the server, then it becomes a problem) so like I said, idk their needs to be some form of server invite system but one that is limited. How limited? That’s the part I’m not sure about.

ROFL 🤣 ooohhoho! thats great :,-) see so if this is the reason we don't have fleets i need more than that, they were like "cheats will get punished" .... "by not alowing the whole community to do something, Ha you wrecked it for everyone" #TheLaw

Thank you I appreciate you AND THINK RARE SHOULD HOOK US UP WITH SOME EDUCATION ON THE TOPIC!!! WINK WINK

  • @jbjfun There is a way to invite friends to be on the same ship with you, and vice versa.

  • @Deckhands @Rare-Employee
Can you Educate us on this Topic Please? Also love this game but would like to have more information on this topic, If its a secret then knowledge that you acknowledge this would be much appreciated so we can drop it until the game gets released ❤️

Anecdotally, not everyone is on that board. Some of us still think that would be a very bad decision for this game.

  • @jbjfun I've been reading as the conversation goes, unfortunately we don't have anything we can add.

Sidenote: The "Rare Employee" tag has been disabled

  • @cheatingpirate
I've been lucky enough to have a great group of friend to play with and crew up with however lets say you have 4 mates and there great at pirating, so you have 4 captains, fill the ships with random people and set sail bonding as we get to know each other, the captains contact each other and keep there crew up to date just imagine
"Whats the status of captain @Red0Demon0 ship!?"

"she be under fire of the port side admiral"

"Hard to port! we must support that vessel! bootleg turn!"

  • One word, megazord!

  • @dhg-ixxrmacxxi
I kinda assumed i felt like i was yelling at the sky. Thats super cool 0.o though i really appreciate the drop in
