What legendary sea creatures would you like to see besides the kraken?
@cavemansamurai I already said a giant rock golem. You sail up to an island with a tree covered mountain and suddenly the mountain starts to move. Before you know it the creature is hurling boulders that your ship.
I would also love to see something like a legendary thunderbird or condor. A bird of pray so larg it’s shadow covers your ship
Mostly anything from the Cthulhu mythos would be awesome, bat demons swooping down on dimly lit ships to carry off crew members. Monoliths and alien cities suddenly rising out of the depths swarming with fish men. Don't forget tentacle covered winged aliens emerging from the depths.
On a less combat orientated note, an island that is actually the back of a giant turtle that rises and moves occasionally (maybe even the inside of the turtle through its mouth with a small ship).
Who can leave out sea serpents? Y'know what I think there are a lot of mythological things that would be great for this game.
@chosen-predator I would love to see the Kraken but it would be amazing if it had like a s**t ton more than 9 tendrils and you fought it on your ship. Each arm could grab you or the ship from like 100 feet away and people have to hack at its tentacles to cut them off before it overturns the ship or crushes you or a teammate. Use cannonballs to shoot it's eyes etc. Aside from that I would love to see a slightly deep ocean quest where you hunt for some ancient treasure in long winding caverns. You fight enemies everynow and then and eventually you get to thus huge treasure room and as you grab the treasure parts of the Cavern start moving and caving in. You get about halfway through and then one of the doops mysteriously closes entirely if you slash it enough it opens. And then you realise it was a huge Deep Sea Angler fish. Everyone has those Big Daddy like Deep sea suits on so movement is hampered and you have to fight it in complete darkness you can only tell where it is when it's heading toward you because it's dangling Lamp.
Maybe have a form of harpoon guns lol.
That could be awesome, It could have an attack where it sucks people up and spits them out after chewing on them and it could even hit and damage other teammates. That s**t would be awesome.Personally, I think that Sirens will be a must. They could even sit on some rocks and sing your crew to sleep, diverting the ship towards a crash. I just think little encounters like that will add to the worldbuilding. Also I think the Flying Dutchman or Davy Jones ghost ship would be a good idea. It could be an area spawn requiring multiple ships to work together to take it down. I dunno, some of these ideas are probably on the drawing board in some form already.
So long as it stays along actual pirate myths it will be cool I think.

I saw one of those in a game I was playing the other day. Pretty cool!
@albinoblad3 Yes! The episode where they ran into the massive ship (monkey salvaging company ship) which was dwarfed by the massive turtle which was in turn dwarfed by those massive people in the image.
@chosen-predator yeah true, but I don't think Sea of Thieves is going for that "mystical monsters only" vibe, as you've already seen the animals on the islands are, well, real-life animals. The classic Kraken will definitely be in game though.
I would love:
- Giant turtle with a moving island on its back, that occasionally immerse from the seas at
random locations. - A Titanesque Hermit crab that uses a Galeon wreck as a housing, which would be
inhabited by sea monkeys. - Dolphins to run aside the boat line.
- And odd swarms of rabid flying fish
- Giant Calamari
- And of course, jelly fish banks that glows at night.
- Giant turtle with a moving island on its back, that occasionally immerse from the seas at
@chosen-predator I want to see the Loch Ness monster in the game where you never see its face and you have to try and kill it in the water while it attacks you with its tail.
Well obviously the thunderbird. Its a giant bird that kills you by picking you up but you find it by like you know when you see the birds circiling in the sky resembiling a shipwreck. Well yeah if 1/20 of those or something like that could have the thunder bird flying around so you only dont have to worry about the sharks but also the giant thunder bird!
