Can we remove the sunk animation after a battle?

  • The hour glass is the dumbest pvp mode ever planned to develop from the scratch but at least I'd like to get rid of the drama.
That dead time with the sad-times music disencourages me a LOT to play another match after being sunk.
If I can get back to my ship immediately I'd play another. But the drama turns me down.
Up today, I still can not believe the Arena was shut down for this

  • They should replace it with something motivational similar to Matsuoka Shuzo's Never Give Up and throw up a popup asking if you'd like to go again right away.
Save the somber music for when you miss out on a four streak or higher and I think players would actually keep going early on if some aspiring music played.

  • A humble reminder that everyone sinks and to get back in the fight.

  • It reminds you. You have failed, everyone faces this.
If it bothers you, that just means it working.
Simple like seeing “GAME OVER” after losing in old arcade game.
    You put another quarter in

Hourglass isn’t a replacement to arena. Not even close

  • Anytime someone does something hundreds and even thousands of times every little thing can make a significant difference in morale and motivation.

It's something worth considering, especially in content that has struggled with participation since the beginning.

It's no secret that HG is a terribly discouraging piece of content for many people. A change could have some positive effects.

It's why a lot of people avoid the roar and the wilds, vibe is everything during an adventure experience, lots of people aren't about that gloomy experience.

The screen is also used as a part of server merging out after you lost the battle.

Well you do not need to believe it, because Arena was not shut down for hourglass.

Arena was shut down because it only received about 2% of total playtime and in contrast to that required a significant amount of development time to just keep it running in the most basic of forms.

Arena being a completely separate game mode with different rules surrounding it made it basically unmaintainable especially since only so little playtime was spent in it. That is not something financially viable to do for a for profit company.

  • For me it's not the sunk animation that is annoying.
BUT the time sink of having to spawn back in, collect outpost/ship resources and vote to dive again. If I'm solo its ''bearable'' (Not really) but with other players that take their time to contemplate if they want to dive again just because they sunk (Not lost) kills the vibe...

The core loop breaks and it's no wonder players just give up after a sink or two because the time to find matches + Lose and re-dive is awful.

There were times to where I just didn't want to play with certain people who were bad at PvP from this fact alone, which without it I would of tolerated the down time.

  • It just adds drama and useless time waste.

That "humble reminder" (try "excessively dramatic" instead) is followed by long black screens flashes, world redrawing, server change, ... and on top of that you might end up ANCHORED on Sailor's bounty with not enough resources to get into another fight unless I sail to an outpost (Sanctuary, of course) and waste a lot of time gathering resources. ... so... ESC -> Exit to desktop -> yes is generally the option

I rather prefer a black screen with a sign saying "please wait, we are preparing the world for your next adventure" like a 90s game XD

  • @captthreepwood you must've not played hg in a while cus it was changed to always spawn you at outposts after losing a battle.

Either way your suggestion is strange. It's like a 5 second screen? Just look away if you have to. Getting sad over it is weird.
