  • The sword would be even more overpowered than it already is.

**Just for clarity the sword is not overpowered until you spam the super lunge with it which is an exploit that should be removed from the game.

Blocking + charging a sword lunge and then jumping to extend the range of the lunge = super lunge

You will notice that if you do a normal lunge you can barely turn your camera or move very far and you cannot jump while charging the lunge however when you do a super lunge turning your camera and your mobility are much less restrictive and you can jump.

You can super lunge from the canopy of a sloop to the bowsprit.

You can cancel the penalty for missing a sword lunge by interacting with a ship component.

The super lunge just deletes PvE so cheesy.

But because swimming is so slow and the super lunge is so beloved for how you can use it to effectively fly through the water at much faster speed it’s been kept in the game even though it breaks the balance of the lunge in PvP.

Hilariously people don’t realize they could remove the super lunge and you could still fly through the water with a normal lunge the only difference would be that you can’t jump right before the lunge so you would need to stand on the railing/edge of the ship.

They've already declared this as a trick.

  • i still dont get what lunging has to do with cqb / melee

  • @personalc0ffee

Yes a trick that breaks the balance of the lunge. It’s just another way veterans destroy noobs who don’t even have the knowledge to perform a super lunge and Rare thinks it’s perfectly fine.

If Rare truly wants to embrace the “trick” they should rework the normal lunge so that it doesn’t restrict your ability to turn your camera, move or jump.

New players shouldn’t have to ask around to find out about how to do the secret tech super lunge. It’s ridiculous.

    Normalize it or remove it.

Personally I think it’s super cheesy and breaks the intended balance for the sword lunge when it comes to PvP.

  • @savvystraw37257 bruh... again. off topic

  • @o37gekko

If the sword blocked bullets and could cancel reloads it would be even more OP than it already is.

Literally on topic. But I did notice you replied 2x with absolutely zero substance only to complain about what I wrote.

  • @savvystraw37257 you started ranting about sword lunging... thats completely off topic

  • @o37gekko

The super lunge is the reason the sword is OP it’s called providing context.

  • @savvystraw37257 lunging has nothing to do with double gunning, and nothing to do with how swords interact with firearms in game. OFF. TOPIC.

  • @o37gekko

Your topic is about making the sword stronger than it is now. The sword is already OP.

Again shouting louder this time so the people in the back can hear me clearly; the developers have already addressed this a few times in fact over the history of the game, and it WILL NOT be removed. They love it, I love it, everyone loves it, well MOST everyone.

This has literally been in the game since the Closed Beta, quite possibly the Alpha.

It won't be getting removed or changed. It is very easy to do. The camera restriction is still part of the cooldown, just like the normal lunge. I don't suspect they'll change it but boy would it make blocking when I fail a lunge much easier.

  • @savvystraw37257 no my post is about balancing swords into the boarding meta, and a suggestion to work around double gunning

  • @personalc0ffee i know that... im a launch crew pirate... im still trying to figure out why this person brought it up

It is not necessary to reply to every single individual in separate posts. You can quote them all in a singular post.

In fact, this is looked at as spam. Quote as many people as you can in a single post.

  • @personalc0ffee noted... thanks for the heads up

  • thanks for killing my post -_-

Getting back on to the topic at hand, I feel that being able to block bullets would be really cool but yah I think it would make the sword to OP.

There definitely however needs to be a stagger mechanic to stop reloading. How you going to just keep reloading through getting cut up?

  • Dropping anchor here as the OP has been lost to Davy Jones' Locker....
