Frozen default controls

  • So I recently switched from xbox to pc and I wanted to play some Sot, but after playing for some time I realized that all of my settings are stuck on default. When I try to change them it will work for the session, but as soon as i leave the game and boot it back up, the settings get reset. Quite unplayable. I tried a fix I saw from a while back where you set your settings to default and rejoin but it didnt work for me. This is happening to both my keybinds and sensitivity.

  • It's likely a permissions issue on Windows preventing the game from overwriting the settings file. Can you start the game as an Administrator (assuming your windows account is not set as an admin already)?

If you can start the game in admin mode and the settings save, then it's definitely a permissions issue and you'd need to locate where the settings files are stored and change the permissions on them to allow your account to write to them.

  • @d3adst1ck That makes sense. Im new to windows so this might be difficult for me, but I will try.

  • Never mind, in windows settings it says my account is an administrator. Could it still be a permissions issue?

  • so I found a file called GameUserSettings It has settings for graphics and visuals, but nothing for sensitivity or keybinds

I'm not totally sure. This issue hasn't happened to me personally but comes up once in awhile and if anyone has found a solution they haven't posted it. I've occasionally been trying to locate where the keybinds are stored in windows but no luck yet. It's possible, although a bit weird, that they could be storing these online with your account but that wouldn't explain why they won't save.

If you wanted to check that settings are stored online, you could try to remap a controller keybind on your console then load it up on your PC and see if the change is there.

  • @d3adst1ck I appreciate the help, but I couldnt find a solution. I returned the game which kinda sucks because im a day one lsd but the game is unplayable like this :/
