My feedback on cursed sails

  • So far, I just love it. I'm having so much fun every time I play! I would like to share my thoughts on all the new features, so here we go:

    Wanda's quest:
It was short but I really enjoyed following the clues and reading the journals. The lab was really cool as well and I spent some time inside looking at all the things. I hope we meet Salty again!

    Brigantine:
I'm still getting used to it. I like it but some things bother me a bit:

    • Lamps: Inside, some of them are located right above the barrels, so it's easy to turn them off/on by mistake. Outside, it's way too dark during the night. There should be another lamp in the middle.
    • Interior: It feels a bit too full so it's hard to move and fix holes. Having to jump over the bed or go around the table is a bit weird.

Other than that, I'm really enjoying it. It's fast, mobile, has a big crew and looks nice. I like the fact that you can see the brig from the top as well haha.

Skeleton ships: I love it. The music, the battle and the chaos that is going on. It really feels epic, especially when you are doing it with other ships.

My only problem with them is the cursed dancing ball. Unlike the others, it just locks you down and prevents you from doing anything. The ships can spam that cannonball over and over until you sink. You have more time to fix holes as a galleon but for smaller crews it feels too deadly.
The grog ball makes things hard but at least it doesn't just stunlock you.

I would like to add that the fights are a bit long, but maybe I just need to get better at fighting them.

Alliances: Personally, I find them great. I teamed up with so many ships already (up to 4 other ships in one battle!) and we all helped each other. Fixing other people's ships, sharing the loot and other things.

Something that I would love to have though is some kind of a communication device on our ship, that will allow us to talk to everyone in the alliance. You will have to go to it in order to speak and you can also turn it off or on.

When the event ends though, I guess it will be mostly used as a form of gold boost. People will probably just make an alliance with others and continue with whatever they were doing.

Commendations: The only "hard" ones are those that require you to be in an alliance and have the same sails. I got 2 out of 3 already. It's not hard but you do need people that can communicate. Other than that, the rest were pretty easy. You should have mentioned in one of the commendations that you recieve the scar and tattoo though, because I didn't notice I had them.

I have a small suggestion to those of you that sturggle with this event: Play with a crew that can communicate. Discord or Xbox app. You can get lucky with random crews but this will make it both easier and more fun.

And that's it! I'm really enjoying it and now I wait for the next 3 captains. Hopefully there is no gold skeleton crew haha.

  • @blindnev I agree with you on 99% of this! Good work sir! and yeah the Commendations are not really that hard..the sails are probably the hardest ones but you have to remember as week 2 and 3 roll around more people will have those sails and more people will be going for those commendations..so it wont be that bad! :D

  • I agree with most of what you said. Not the Alliance part though, because I don't like this system.
Yes, sometimes it is useful, but experience has taught me that in most cases, it is just another tool for people to screw over other people.

Unless I am specificly doing something that requires multiple crews, I don't see myself using this Alliance BS system(It doesn't even show which player is in your Alliance or not, just the ship), I will be firing on any and all who gets close. No exceptions, ever.

  • @danish-crusader See I love the Alliance system and I have not been screwed over not one time with it yet..I think most people like yourself have probably had one bad experience with it and judge it by 1 bad experience..I love how it works. I feel like they do need to add more to it though.

  • @averageheroz First Alliance. Someone bombed our ship with barrels while we were all doing the Wanda quest.
Second Alliance: Galleon fired on everyone else and took all the loot from the skeleton ship, post encounter.
Third Alliance. Ship took most of the loot and left the Alliance before they turned it in(Sunk the ally ship that followed them to the Outpost).
Fourth Alliance. 2 Galleons turned on everyone else during the last wave, left the alliance, took all the loot and sold it.
Fifth Alliance(Attempt). They came close, asked for alliance, meanwhile I saw one of their guys swimming under the water towards our boat with a barrel.

No, I did not just have 1 bad experience with it.

  • @danish-crusader Ok well I am just saying I have been in about 70+ alliances in the past 4 days and I have not run into anyone like that..sorry that you are running into those kinds of players.

  • @Danish-Crusader That's really unfortunate :S.

I have been in so many alliances that I lost count, and no one has betrayed anyone else. Even when I was on a solo sloop and they could have easily done it.

Not saying that it works every time, but we are pretty selective when we ally ourselves with others. We talk with them a bit and always keep resources in case things go wrong.

I hope you will have good alliances in the future as well. It makes the fights and interactions really fun : )

@AverageHeroz Mind telling me what is the 1% you disagree with? Don't tell me it's the gold skeleton crew haha.

  • @blindnev The fights being too long. If you have at least 2 ships (dose not matter what they are) it normally only takes about 20-30mins to do the whole fight..but maybe that is because I have just done a lot of them and have got really good at it. Spam them with explosive barrels! LOL :P but I do remember my first time fighting them and it took me like 1hr and 30mins to do the whole fight..lol so I see where you are coming from. Even with 1 ship you can do it in 30mins or so with a good crew :)

  • Alliances has created great experiences for us. Crews evolved alot in last week.Last night we had 3 ships fighting as supplies got low our ship shuttled supplies to other two. Doing drive by drops offs of supply stocked teammates, was actually very fun. Other team was completely out of boards bailing to stay afloat. Teammate dives off patches 5 holes. I come by again he jumps back on grabs boards to swim back for last two holes even. This is in middle of captain fight. We could of easily(Did the pirate game thing and let them sink) We had more fun being the heroes.

  • @barnacle-blake See this is what I am talking about! I run into more players like this than bad ones. I do feel for those people who always run into trolls and just mean players. I just feel like there is more good than bad.

  • @averageheroz Appearantly I am an A***e magnet =P

  • @AverageHeroz Ah I see. Like I said, it's probably just me having to get better at these fights. It's the same with Forts. It can take an hour to some people while others can do it in less than 10 minutes (even faster now with the gunpowder skeletons).

@Barnacle-Blake Yep this is what I'm experiencing every time. Everyone is helping each other and battling together. I really like it.

  • @danish-crusader said in My feedback on cursed sails:

Lol, That does suck though, six in a row is ruff. It helped we needed each other. Three crews all doing same sail achievement.

  • @danish-crusader Yeah I hate to say it but maybe find better pirate friends? Sounds like your hanging with the wrong group of people..I just don't want you to get into any trouble or anything..got to look after you. :P

  • @blindnev Yes sir! That is why I said 99% but you are on point! Just takes some practice :P

  • @averageheroz I can handle myself... Usually through the use of steel and lead =)
Though, I am terrible at the whole Person to Person fight, I am great at the whole Ship to Ship fight =)
