Sky of thieves

  • It would be fun to see a steampunk version with airships and pirates who can land on floating cities, blimps could work too, I love playing sea of thieves and just wanted to ask what you thought about sky pirates lol

  • @skullmanbeard not a clue, I'm afraid. I just saw 'SoT in the sky' and this was the first thing that sprung to mind.

Pvp based it seems, so not my cuppa....although at £3.99 (EDIT: for PC) might be worth a crack. :)

  • I actually really like this idea.

Sea of Thieves already has a fantasy element with skeletons and gigantic sea monsters so who knows...maybe they'll do something in the future...

I don't like to use Fortnite as an example because it's played out, but Epic Games really are great at adding things to their game and keeping it fresh. Recently they introduced cracks in space and time, A viking ship appeared and parts of the landscape changed...

SoT could do something similar but even better. Adding unique islands, enemies and unique cosmetics from different eras and realities. Steampunk could work.

It could also be expanded into the storyline and lore... the mermaid people caused a rift with their magic causing worlds to collide...or perhaps they are trying to close the rift...something like that... give the game a larger overarching narrative!

They could add new regions, with new aesthetics. Even add unique pets too, like a robot dog or mutant parrot with tentacles and three eyes.

It would definitely give the game a lot more character!!!!!!

  • @claretguitar238 A Steampunk version sounds like a good idea, but also like it should be an own game. If it would be as atmospheric as SoT, i would get it.

btw: Did you listen to Abney Park to come up with this idea? ;-)

  • I was just looking at the comments for this thread and I cannot believe you think this is a good idea. I understand adding content is awesome but you can always go to far with it. Adding floating sky cities and airships to a pirate game is crazy. There are games out there you can easily buy on Steam that have all of that content but there is no way Rare is going to commit to this idea. Sorry.

  • @LastPlaceN00b The reason why Sea of Thieves has "skeletons and gigantic sea monsters" is because it adds on to the main idea of the game. There were always myths about sea monsters attacking pirate ships and skeletons is a big factor of the pirate world. Fortnite doesn't have a main concept. It's just your classic Battle Royale game. Please don't ever compare Fornite to Sea of Thieves because they don't have anything in common. Fortnite can add all the content they want because they nothing to base it on while Sea of Thieves does which is pirates. I'm not sure if you know about "Forsaken Shores" which is August's SoT update but they are adding a new outpost you can row rowboats into since it's covered in lava. They are also adding a bunch of content during "Cursed Sails" like new loot, new ship, AI ships, cursed cannonballs, new clothing, new sails, new public event and etc. I'm sorry but if this isn't enough for you then that's just to bad because there is NO WAY SoT is going to add flying cities and airships. Sorry.
