Forts Of The Forgotten Trailer

  • ICYMI, the Forts of the Forgotten Adventure trailer landed...

Thoughts on lore? Seems most people, myself included, think that's Amaranta at Wanda's side.

Also, love the line "there are many different ways to put someone in a cage", definitely a nod to the magic used to trap Flameheart and other souls trapped by Greymarrow.

    Edit...
Side note: Rare need to get the team behind these trailers to make a full length animated movie. It's just so well done from all involved. Imagine an Athena's Fortune movie by them?

  • One thing i really think Rare should add now is the red eye effect when talking to the Servant of the Flame. It looked so cool in the trailers!

Also, a bit far fetched, but Reaper's Curse soon?

  • Personally liked it, my only problem with it was the weird red glowing eyes. I’m just too used to them being in clickbait thumbnails. Other than that the trailer was pretty nice. I’d like someone to correct me, isn’t Wanda not with Flameheart anymore? So how does the Reapers faction work now? Did they splinter off from Flameheart and now Flamehearts alliance consists of Spanish Ghosts and Ashen Lords?

That's pretty much it. Wanda joined the Dark Brethren after she was shunned by Flameheart (which explains why skelly ships fire on phantoms and ghost ships).

  • I find the general design of the adventures to be interesting.

The cinematic trailers are a nice touch.

It's interesting because many things begin to lose their charm over time by catering to a more casual audience in order to grow but in this case I feel like the game is becoming more charming in some ways.

They find great ways to both appeal to a more broad and casual audience while also maintaining the design philosophies that make Sea of Thieves click, it's really amazing!

They certainly seem to have a team putting in the effort that are as talented at their craft as they are passionate about maintaining the heart of the lore-based experience.

  • @wolfmanbush Same honestly, Rare have done a significantly great job at keeping and even elevating the charm and magic that makes this game so special over the years.

  • RELEASE THE FLAMEHEART

  • Just watched this trailer for the first time, my eyes were glued to the screen, mouth wide open & getting goosebumps! I cannot wait! Who noticed the new reapers mask with the golden mouth?! XO

  • almost certain the other masked stranger is Amaranta! The beauty mark above the mask's lip is exactly the same as Amaranta's!

  • First of all very cool trailer! I liked very much the fact that is not just for "commercial" purposes but it's clearly made for whose into the lore.

As you said, I too think that Amaranta it's at Wanda's side, my only extra thought is whether she is cursed too now, I guess we can't know. Not sure if all this is also tied to the murder mistery we're gonna be discovering in the coming months. I think the first thing every one thought of as soon as we discovered the first Mistery was a murder with an important character as the victim was "someone in the Arena is gonna die" which instantly makes you think "Amaranta hates de Marco and Lesedi" but people like the Pirate Lord himself got murdered and could die because the Ferryman wasn't there to bring him back from the Sea of the Damned but instead the "phantom" of Ramsey somehow escaped the Sea of the Damned.
So, how does a murder work now? What if Amaranta was actually the one that got killed, what if someone intentionally cursed her and that kinda counts as a murder as skeletons count as un-dead I guess.

Also loved that the fact that Flameheart can't be seen in the skies got underlined, suggesting he got revived or the ritual to revive him is happening right now.

The Servant of the Flames wants Wonda, perhaps the plan is to lure Wanda somewhere or he thinks Wonda is as skilled as Wanda in terms of working with iron and curses.

Wanda is clearly angry, possibly wants to save her sister with her own hands, the fact we've seen her might mean that the choice we'll make in the 3rd Adventure might be choosing between Flameheart and Wanda's crew (/Dark Brethren, I'm still not sure if the Dark Brethren kinda broke up after Davy Jones defeat).

PS: Also, Wanda's ship is Barbossa's (meant to say Dark Warsmith) ship set?

  • @pellahh I think Wanda's ship is just a reaper variant, they've kinda got a similar color scheme with the red, black, and gold.

  • @brunokuz

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but when Wanda raises her arm you can see the cannon, it's out of focus and a bit dark but really looks like the one from Barbossa's set (meant to say Dark Warsmith's set) to me, give it a look.

  • @pellahh sail tatter looks more like Dark Warsmith to me personally. Could be a mix of the two since they’re both based on the same ship.

  • @ninja-naranja

Yeah you are right, I actually meant say that set, I got confused with the names!

  • @realstyli
I am wondering if this will eventually tie back into the treasure Captain Jack Sparrow had with him throughout the duration of "A Pirate's Life." Maybe we will find out the identity of the woman Jack and Calypso were referring to at the end of "Lords of the Sea?"

  • @lucky11

There are so many loose plot points from A Pirate’s Life that I feel we will get back there eventually.

To me, all this seems to be heading towards a 3-way war between the Reapers, Athena’s Fortune, and The Dark Brethren.

I think they are done largely by an external team on an outside company, but it would be incredible to see them team up with rare and do even a short film!

  • I feel like I’m getting vibes from this that suggest that they want to use Wonda (The good one for those who get confused 😀) as a host for Flameheart or maybe singing related to it like a sacrifice or something.

Although I have to say, nothing bad will happen to Shelly!

  • @realstyli And that's not even including the ever-looming threat of the GMU

  • @courtingnose1 I think it's quite likely that Junior/Senior want to use Wonda as a new Warsmith!

It seems to be The Dark Warsmith ship set. Cannons, match, hull has the same pattern at top, match, sails?

So I guess we'll have yet another lore set in the emporium...

Personally, I think it was just bad storytelling. The whole thing just seemed rushed and coming back months later to give answers just seems a too little too late.

  • @whitelisted8572
Yeah, I agree that it was a bit rushed but it did finally move the story forward after months of no lore progression. (Or at least visible progression)

Had a look at it and the cannon from the Wiki and it does definitely look like the Dark Warsmith cannon.

  • With the Servant of the Flame now apparently working with Flameheart, I wonder if someone else will eventually take over the Reapers. If the Warsmith is opposing the Servant, maybe Wanda will return to the Reaper's Hideout to run the faction after all is said and done.
