Ability to host private servers?

  • @banana132895 sagte in Ability to host private servers?:

@xultanis-dragon the pvp community is very much toxic, alot of poeple are really toxic in this game by being racist, homophobic etc, ships getting targeted because they have the pride flag up, so again how arnt players toxic?

People get attacked because they have the pride flag up? In my experience, people with that flag up are the most hostile people in the game! Never, and I mean NEVER had a friendly crew with that flag on...
Anyway, how do you know people get attacked because of that flag?

  • @danquememe You know, I can't agree with the "This game ain' for u" rhetoric, as it just sounds like an insult and a "get the fudge out of here". Especially considering that it would imply that I did indeed waste 40 Euros on nothing. Seriously, I wouldn't be so antsy about other players, if they were actually interested in ensuring the other party would also have a good time, rather than being either mute or just downright cruel.
If I had better encounters with players, I'd probably stomach it better. But considering I just had people dehumanize me and tell me to "Leave the game", then it's no wonder why I'd want to play the game without players around.

I also looked at the games you suggested, and.... I probably should've specified better what it is exactly I'm after. Because games that are essentially "You are the ship" are the exact opposite of what I am after. Getting off of the ship and exploring land masses is half the fun in the sailing and I see myself enjoying No Man's Sky less if it were a "You are the ship" game.
At least it still remains true, that there aren't any good alternatives to Sea of Thieves, and that my frustration with the game is justified.

At least you didn't suggest something like "Salt", because then I'd see that you're really posting to me in bad faith.

  • @banana132895 said in Ability to host private servers?:

I also don't get why you have to pay for a server that you will get no progression in, it seems dumb

Because then it's pay to win. You could pay to have a safe space to complete the more difficult (by design) server events when the players that can't afford to do so have to play in the 'real' dangerous waters.

The short answer to this is in this game it's completely acceptable to attack anyone at any time for any reason. Once you accept that, you'll be less frustrated.

  • @chenzo01 Missed my point completely, but okay, whatever.

  • @kalgert said in Ability to host private servers?:

@chenzo01 Missed my point completely, but okay, whatever.

No I didn't. You'd be ok with someone attacking you if they were nice about it. But people that just do it mutely, or trash talk you make you have less than a good time.

Those other pirates don't care about your feelings. And true, some will relish the salt you provide. Others will see you as a threat and sink you to stay safe. Still others will be total scrubs and just attack whatever boat they see.

It's just the way the game is. You WILL find pirates that talk to you. You will be able to make alliances. And you will see pirates looking at you through their spyglass as they sail by.

That's the whole beauty of the game, IMO.

  • @kalgert Out of curiosity, are you playing solo? It sounds like you are hoping to forge friendships on the seas and you are frustrated that other players either do not interact with you at all, or they are not receptive to your friendly gestures. If this is the case then you might give the LFG or Discord tools a try to find like-minded players to group up with. Any hostile banter from another crew would sting less if you are surrounded by friends who have your back.

And BTW, no one has said you don’t have a right to speak up or that you just need to leave (at least that I’ve seen). What we are saying is, although you purchased the game under a false understanding of the game, you might find what you are looking for in another title. I’ve purchased plenty of games that I ended up hating. I just moved on and found my bliss elsewhere rather than trying to make them change things to suit me. We’ve tried to suggest possible titles that may have what you are looking for, but you turn your head away and just give us vague ideas about what you want and don’t want. We can’t read your mind, and honestly no one really cares enough about your particular enjoyment to jump through all these hoops to please you. I don’t mean that in a harsh way. Just letting you know that we will try to help a little, but you are responsible for your own happiness. We are just making suggestions based on each of our limited set of experiences.

  • @ghostpaw I was more or less forced to play solo, because none of my friends want to play this game. And in regards to other players? Just wanted to see them and go on, or at least people being creative whenever they're fighting, rather than being absolute manics (Can't think of any other word)

You gave suggestions, that's nice and all. I rejected them, that's perfectly normal. Would you take a dumb suggestion in to consideration, like someone telling you to eat bugs if you ask what to eat when hungry? I think I made it rather clear what I was looking for.

Besides, Cyberpunk's gonna be ready to play in a few hours, I'll be playing that. Hopefully It'll help me forget about Sea of Thieves or make me not think about playing it :p

  • Actually dwelling so much on this is making me sincerely angry, and am now actually considering spite-installing the game and just go attack anything I see.

Well great, you people made me go crazy and consider becoming a "Toxic PvPer". Congrats on that

...and become what you made the post about?

  • @supersnipper60 Yeah. Ain' the forums just so ever proud?

  • @kalgert depends on if you listen to them. We have been trying to help you understand.

  • @supersnipper60 Yeah, swamp this "Trying to make you understand" nonsense. It is clear that no one gives a hootenanny aboutit, so I might as well lash out, turn in to what this game likes to foster, and just attack anyone I see.

I mean "It's what the game is all about" right?

  • @kalgert Well yes and no. Its a pirate game. Be a pirate. Don't be a toxic pirate though.

  • @supersnipper60 Well Rare doesn't seem to care what people are like, so why not? even @Chenzo01 said that people "Don't care about feelings", so why should I?

This is what you are making out of people, live it!

I did say right below that that you WILL find pirates who are awesome and do care. I care. I want you to love the game as much as I do.

Rare's stance is tools not rules. We are trying to help you. You can avoid (mostly) the jerks and if you're careful you can find some diamonds in the rough.

  • @chenzo01 Yeah. You don't care, I don't believe that you do.

It's me against the rest of the world at this point, and I will see about causing as much damage as I can. Will I die? Sure, I've forgotten how to play in the three months of not playing, but I will go and just be that what the game evidently wants people to become.
A fitting metaphore to what my mindset is right now would be this image: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/567564000338903070/785728454897172500/20190822224918_1.jpg

You are the only one responsible for your response to what goes on around you. No one here can make you do anything. Your actions and feelings are your own to decide. Let that sink in. I am done giving you any further attention on this topic.

  • @kalgert said in Ability to host private servers?:

@chenzo01 Yeah. You don't care, I don't believe that you do.

I do to a certain extent. I'd even sail with ya. But you do you.

And, IMHO, you are 100% within your right to install the game and just go on a murderous rampage and sink every ship that you see. That is a totally viable way to play the game.

Take what you can and give nothing back!

  • @chenzo01 Do you live in the US? Yes? Then no sailing together. Besides, I don't want any more friends, the few people in my life are enough.

I know I am. So why is that one guy telling me to not become a "Toxic pirate"? Because it's obvious that the game wants people to become this.

  • @kalgert said in Ability to host private servers?:

@danquememe You know, I can't agree with the "This game ain' for u" rhetoric, as it just sounds like an insult and a "get the fudge out of here". I mean, perceptions vary? I don't think it's "cruel" when a player comes and tries to compete with me for loot. That's... the game?

But clearly you're wired differently. When people tell you this game isn't for you, it's not because they don't want you here. It's because the words you say make it clear that you don't want to be here.

So why are you still here? At this point, you understand what this game is, and what it isn't. You understand that it's not for you. I can only assume you are seeking attention. That's fine, but I've given you a good faith effort to "help" with your "problem," and that's more than enough. You're (presumably) an adult and can make your own choices.

  • @danquememe Refer to my previous posts.

  • @kalgert said in Ability to host private servers?:

@danquememe Refer to my previous posts.

I think I won't. I'm done. You're not going to find satisfaction here. Accept that fact, sit with it, and either accept the game, or move on. Those are the options.

  • @danquememe As in, my RECENT posts you lazy billy.

I've snapped. I'm going to turn in to what you people want me to become. The "Toxic PvPer" that the game is apparently "All about".

  • @kalgert said in Ability to host private servers?:

So why is that one guy telling me to not become a "Toxic pirate"?

    ¯_(ツ)_/¯ dunno.

You can't be toxic in this game unless you're in an open crew and crashing the boat or setting it on fire or whatever OR if you're spewing verbal hate or doing other things that are against the ToS.

Otherwise, everything else is fair game, IMO.

  • @chenzo01 I am feeling nothing but hate right now for anyone who plays the game.

I will express it in the game.

  • @kalgert said in Ability to host private servers?:

@chenzo01 I am feeling nothing but hate right now for anyone who plays the game.

I will express it in the game.

LOL.. I'll quote Flameheart for you:

This world has gotten so much weaker... Festivals! Alliances! Squabbling over trinkets! I judge it unworthy.
But know this, pirates. Know this, merfolk. Know this, Sea of Thieves... I have returned, and the fires of my vengeance shall consume you all!"

  • @kalgert Well, your responses show you're more likely to have already been that toxic person on the seas so no wonder you've not had good experiences. Good luck if you play the game but don't expect anyone to be decent to you if you're rude to them. If you get into a ship battle it doesn't mean the other person is toxic. If you lose your loot, they just played better than you that time so accept it and either come back to fight them again or find a fresh server with different players. If you sink them and get their loot, just say "GG" and go and sell it. I've met hundreds of people playing this game and many of them I have befriended to the point where I have multiple crews I get to sail with. A lot of these crews are from people I got into battles with but we all enjoyed the fight and realised that we would all do well to sail together (as the song goes!).

Why not try again with a fresh perspective and instead of saying that you have enough friends (I'm not sure that's really a thing - it's not like you have to have everyone over for dinner), try a random group to sail with and see what happens. Having lots of acquaintances is perfectly fine! You might be pleasantly surprised. Most people replying to your posts are trying to offer advice and it seems that the majority have experienced different things to what you state after all.

  • @kalgert I think I found your problem: you were the toxicity you were mentioning earlier.

  • @sharkticus I didn't do ANYTHING to those people who were being toxic towards me, other than breathe in their general directions! In fact I was someone who didn't want anything to do with players. It is only now that I decided "Poggle this, if these people want me to become this "Pirate" so much, then I will give them what they want".

So now I reinstalled the game and will just attack anyone and anything I see because "This is what the game is all about".

This IS a "Fresh perspective", previously it was me wanting to enjoy the game, now it's me wanting to be destructive. And you know how or why this is? Because of people on these forums driving me to this. So be happy with that, that I am finally "One of you". And when I say "Enough friends", it is a polite way of saying "I don't want any friends from this game". I only want to play with my girlfriend, and since she hates this game or considers it not interesting enough, I have to play alone.

@SuperSnipper60 Yeah, feel free to believe whatever you want. I am only like this now because I've been driven to it.
If I actually HAD positive interactions that didn't start with random player attacking me and treating me as if my life's worthless, then I would actually have a better outlook about this game.

But sure, I am the "Toxic player all along", according to you people.

  • Good luck!

  • @Banana132895

    puts up rainbow flag
    gets sunk
    “TOXIC BIGOTS!!!”

There is a strange correlation between people who cry about all PVP being toxic and people who love to use the rainbow flag like its a shield to protect them from all the big bad pirates. (I notice this on twitter also) Newsflash. It is not a shield. Its a rainbow flag, most of the time kids and newbies use it, therefore they indicate easy targets. Everything isn't an all out offensive attack one someones sexual preference.

Not everyone targets rainbow boats for PVP. Its just, players who use them seem to rage out about “toxic PVP” a lot more than most others, but thats the internet in 2020. Gotta keep those feelings in check when playing a video game. If you cannot handle that, have i got some bad news for you about what life be like. 😱

If someone is abusing the text/voice chat to break ToS then make the report to Rare and let the ban hammer be swift.

@kalgert Thats the spirit! Go get em champ! YARRR! 🏴‍☠️

  • you realize private servers are basically a no progression zone. you gain no progress in everything. no commendations, no gold, no rep. i guarantee you only want private servers just to farm with no other pirates.

  • I already applied and this is going to be very philosophical for the absolute monkey brains in here, but i wonder, if everyone at the start was kind and didnt attack would people be more kind? I mean when i started i was fine to be kind to others and not kill or sink, until, many people started to sink me. Im fine with that this is a pirate game and im fine with that, i got better changed my keybinds and got better. now me and my duo friend have held off galleons with reletive ease and gotton over 7.5 mil in one reaper double gold session, seriously tho 8k gold for one captains and 50k for ashen winds skull turned into reapers with grade 5 during double thats insane. But back to the topic what does everyone else think if pvp was reserved for very rare occasions? If everyone started nice im sure the posotivity would have spread and this game would be completely different. I think that the game would have half the amount of people if you were shamed for attacking people. I'm sure the YouTubers who brought popularity to the game would never have joined. aka summit, pace, those people. and the people who rose in sea of thieves, mixel, and liquirless, as far as i know, would probably not have gotten this popular. But what does everyone else think if people were shamed for aggressive pvp and tucking? i think it would not be near as popular and dying off now All these pvp shamers want a dead game i guess.

  • @kalgert dude what is your major malfunction, nobody in these forums have been demeaning or toxic to you in any way and all of a sudden you go full berserk on everyone in here and blame them, for what you “have become”

Look when you get attacked in game it is not because the other players Hate you or think your life is worthless, it can have a ton of reasons. But the bottom line is that its just a game, and in this game unprovoked PvP is just simply part of the fun. As RARE themselves have put it so eloquently in the code of conduct:

Be a good sport. Sea of Thieves is a pirate game, and stealth, stealing and the battles are all part of the fun. All pirates on the seas accept that, but be a good sportsman in both victory and loss.

    Source: https://www.seaofthieves.com/code-of-conduct

The thing is, that nobody here will condone of people using racist slurs, misogynistic terms or just be demeaning in battle situations or outside of it and all of us would suggest people encountering that to report it, Rare actively puts repurcusions in place for those people.

However what many of the people here also told you is that what we generally encounter is that when people get attacked and they scream and squeel “l’m Friendly” they usually follow that up with any of the following

    • “Why attack me you {nasty word}”
    • “your just toxic for attacking us im going to report you”
    • “you are a hacker, f off ”
    • “get lost {racist slur}, you are not allowed to attack me because im friendly”

And many... many more in that same vein.

Is it because i am a “toxic pvp’er” that i deserve that language ? While all those people didnt know what i was doing just 5 minutes before.... most of what you and alot of people call “toxic pvp’ers” are just PvEvP’ers

  • @callmebackdraft The players who attacked me certainly made it clear that they thought my life was worthless.
