How to Bring Back Limited Time Cosmetics

    Since some folks are sensitive about replying on past threads, here’s a new one about bringing back limited time cosmetics without ticking off said people.

    Everybody! I have a solution! Put all those cosmetics in Duke’s shop, and have them able to be purchased with doubloons. Then, for all future events, have them be unlocked via commendation only during the event. Once the event is over, ya gotta spend doubloons on them. This makes them valuable because you earn them either way, and still makes them available. You can choose to spend your doubloons on boosting levels, or cosmetics. Your choice. Solves everything.

    This would defeat the purpose of time limited items. That's really all that needs to be said, imo. All this discussion about how to bring them back for players who weren't there at the time is a sidetrack when it shouldn't be done in the first place.

    Why not just accept time limited items as being gone?

    Rare is constantly recolouring skins, it would be easy enough to release new colours of those limited time cosmetics for players who missed them (or players who didn’t but prefer the new colours). This would add to the game rather then recycle old elements. It would also avoid undermining “limited time”

    I want Duke to bring me new stuff.

    Not stuff from last year that is not replayable.
    Last year is history.

    New things from Duke that will keep me engaged for another year.

    Rehash last years booty, and I am gone for good.

    No. Cosmetics should always be purchasable with doubloons during events, and never afterwards. I don't like it when they're locked behind commendations. The original time limited items should never be re-released, but maybe a recolored or altered version could begin to show up in seaposts a couple of months after the event. For example, a forsaken ashes sword but it glows yellow and has white metal.

    Was just a suggestion to those who missed it, not concerning those who are able to be there. Your cosmetics have 0 value because they are cosmetics. Uniqueness comes from mixing and matching, not spamming a set. If you were around for everything, this doesn’t concern you. And if you leave if stuff is re-released, that’s one less ship for me to worry about.

    You snooze you lose. I don't have everything myself, and that's fine. Worst of all I was so on the fence on even buying the game that I have the day one patch but not the black dog set, lol. It's all good though, there are plenty of options even without any limited items so what's the big fuss about?

    Anyway to the matter at hand, use the search function and you will see that this topice has been talked about, rehashed and all that jazz alot of times by now.

    and by what rare has told us so far we know this:

    Limited time cosmetics will not be brought back as is, if they are going to reintroduce them they will be changed slightly cosmeticly to make them set appropriate but distinct from the originals.

    Also your talk about the buying with doubloons part is ignorant, most (90+% limited time cosmetics where locked behind bilge rat commendations AND purchase with doubloons so what you are basicly saying is, is just bring them back and purchasable in the way they where during the original event.... nothing new or groundbreaking about that...

    Except it does devalue them. I don't have all of them, but that's OK. They're valuable because of the scarcity, not the looks. Again, recolors are fine, not the real ones though.

    I wasn’t around for the time limited cosmetics. It’s not fair to people who didn’t have a chance because they didn’t know the game existed. People who gave up on the game, I can agree that they lost their shot. They should bring back the limited time cosmetics. I don’t mind doing the work. I don’t care about any useless titles, just the outfits, weapon skins and the ship skins.

    @coffeelight5545 the thing is the events arent here anymore apart from some commendations, but the megalodon is easy to get now (instead of having to spawn her with another crew), the outposts are no longer under attack, the Devil’s roar has calmed down etc etc etc

    And how many dabloons do you have saved up sir? In fact how many does EVERYBODY have saved up? Probably enough to get ALL of the time limited items that were there before if what you suggested was possible.

    Once again, another HUGE slap in the face to me and all other hard working pirates that earned those fair and square.

    For those that were there during day 1 and launch week but missed out on the day one patch and launch crew sniper I feel should have the CHANCE to get those again, but ONLY those who were apart of the game during the launch.

    Stop asking for handouts just bcuz you dont have the cosmetics we worked hard for and stuck around the game for.

    Why are we still discussing this? I’m so tired of people arguing about this topic. I think that Rare should just keep having new bilge rat events and stuff with brand new time limited cosmetics. That way people who got last years stuff will still be able to have fun gaining this new stuff while the newer players can have a chance to get their own time limited items. Sound fare? As for re skinned items I’m not very into that idea and won’t be very interested in working my butt off for Variations of an item I already have.

    Doesn't the definition of limited timed cosmetics kinda say that you can't bring them back in the future cuz they're "limited timed"? But with that being said I don't think they should bring back cosmetics that they said were limited timed because.....they said they were limited time. However, I would BET money that Rare will cave to the people who want cosmetics that were limited timed and bring them back at some point. Just like how they had the original commendation for a good 7 months and then out of the blue and without warning nerfed ALL OF THEM down to participation trophy level!!

    I hope that Rare brings these events back. I don’t mind waiting for the one year anniversary for all the added content, such as a birthday event for the forsaken shores.

    I sincerely hope that they bring back the time limited cosmetics because I wasn’t part of the sea of thieves community until the Christmas season. I have been a faithful player ever since. However, Rare has mentioned about bringing back the time limited cosmetics but with a slight color variation. Essentially Rare wants the cosmetics to have a visible difference to protect the past cosmetics. If this is true, I can live with that.

    Maybe add the words "Year 2 edition" in the name?

    There is a big difference in the legendary figureheads. The one they gave away in the Birthday event is clearly different from the original. I would imagine it would be similar to that.

    @coffeelight5545 yes something like that would taste good for me, I mean dont get me wrong, if I was apart of the ppl that didnt get stuff when they came out I'd at least hope for a complete re-skin design for their color pattern.
