Mermaids and Shipwrecks MIA?
We see at least two shipwrecks at any given time, sometimes even three!
Mermaids are hit or miss, maybe one every 3-4 islands maybe?
They are there though!
EDIT: Last 3 sessions I have loaded at an outpost with a shipwreck in view of my ship. Try hopping a couple and see what you get to start off with?
@michini what?! Just yesterday we discovered at least 10 shipwrecks in a 4 hour session and found 3 blue, 2 green and 2 red mermaids...
I think this thread is just a clickbait for telling everybody the shrouded ghost is rare...I play a lot, really a lot and haven't seen the shrouded ghost neither, yet...
@schwammlgott Thanks but it’s not - we have seriously been looking for shipwrecks and mermaids and can not find any. Just this session we’ve been to 7 islands and absolutely nothing- just the opportunity for lots of shark meat.
@archangel-timmy we have been going to both large and small islands. We generally both jump off the ship and one person goes clockwise and the other counter until we meet up. We finally found a blue one a couple of minutes ago... but the spawn rate for us is ridiculously slow.
@michini I've been unlucky with mermaid statues recently. In fact, since the hunters call was released, I've probably only found about 4 statues. Most sessions I've had after that update, I've found none. I haven't been so unlucky with shipwrecks though. I usually see at least one and I'll definitely go search it for bait, fish, and meat. It also helps with stocking up on normal supplies getting me prepared for skeleton fleet battles. I guess it's just bad luck not finding any statues since other people seem to have no trouble with it.
Maybe you're like me on the shipwrecks and can't spot them if your life depended on it?
My buddies often state: "Hey there's a shipwreck!" and I'm trying my best to spot it only to see the seagulls right before we get there. Some (especially the submerged ones) are really hard to spot.As with mermaids, I've had my fair share of them. Been hunting them to boost my Hunters call rep.
You do need a good ear to find them often times and they spawn around 33% of the islands I visit.To me, it just seems to be server to server. One session we will be getting three mermaids per large island and plenty of shipwrecks. Another session the next night there won't be a shipwreck for miles and not a mermaid to be found. The good nights are fun though! Shipwrecks have some of the best loot now with all kinds of great trophy fish in them.
@michini I have been going to shipwrecks quite a bit over the last few days. If anything they have increased in numbers not decreased. The mermaids do seem less common now but I think that is because people seem to look for them less now. They are extremely valuable for hunter's call though. Lots of XP there.
