Please add a substantial reputation reward for voyage completion

  • Title. Repost from discussion. There should be a reputation reward for the completion of a voyage. When voyage complete pops up for a level 25 quest, it should be like 10 percent of the rep level. This would help smooth out the grind and make the single chest/riddle quests potentially better for rep vs the bigger hauls better for gold.

  • The catch: You need to turn in all treasure from the voyage at once.

This makes it more difficult to accomplish, and it makes the experience more thrilling as you get closer to completing the voyage. Also makes PVP better as people are more likely to have chests.

I disagree here, it should be untied from the gold rewards. This way, people who complain about having their time completely wasted if they get robbed can take solace in the fact that they got some rep. Obviously they still lose out on the rep and gold they would have gotten in addition, but it's something. The MA already has the twist that you have to make it back with the goods for the reward

  • @graiis If we reduce the pain of losing the chests, we reduce the thrill of the experience.

I know it would suck to lose 19 chests when you're just about to get the final one and sail back to the outpost, but that's what would make it so incredibly exciting to be scanning the horizon, so exciting to be sailing away from a pursuing ship, and so exciting when you see a sailboat at the outpost and quickly do a 180, hoping you can escape.

If you want to get little rewards piece by piece, you could do things as they are now, turning in the chests a couple at a time without any voyage bonus.

This wouldn't reduce anything except the grind to pirate legend, and not even by that much it would just smooth it out. If you still have to do 500 voyages per faction to get legend, that's still a ton. You still have to make it home for gold, you still lose just as much when you get sunk with 20 chests. This change has nothing to do with curbing piracy, it has to do with complaints and play pattern that people are describing where you are better off cancelling every mission that isn't a multi captain or multi chest map. It just smooths out the rewards between low and high amount missions.

  • @wero-flamingo An important point is that it is for completing the voyage, and is not tied to turning in chests.

For Gold Hoarders, the voyage is completed when you dig up the last chest. For Order of Skulls it is completed when you kill the last captain.

Because it isn't tied to turning those items in at an Outpost you can at least gain a little reputation even if someone sinks your ship and steals your loot.

And it would also encourage people to actually complete voyages rather than cancel out of them partway through.

    This guy gets it

  • There's a huge discussion on another thread about voyage rep, I feel like this solution is easy. Don't change chests at all, add rep in voyage completion. Ez. Doesn't drastically decrease the grind but helps, doesn't hurt PvP in any way, supports riddle voyages. Win win win as Michael Scott would say.

  • I agree, there should be some reward for the completing the voyage, a small XP and gold boost would suffice I think. I find myself ditching voyages before completing them which isn't ideal. It takes away from the fun of going on a pirate adventure and makes it feel like I am just grinding, which in reality is what I'm doing, but would prefer if the grind felt less grindy through small changes such as these.

  • @ndcz yeah ditching voyages is lame, we should be incentivized to finish
