Why not allow gamers to play offline during maintenance???

  • Why not allow gamers to play offline whilst servers are down? Solo maps during maintenance will help people who payed £40, or thereabouts, to not feel like they've bought a game they can only play at random times 😠

    Three reasons.

First off because of how heavily server based (by which I really just mean the game is only on server multi-player, instead of P2P or local) this game is a lot of the data/code/whatever that would be necessary to run it isn't even on your computer in the first place.
I haven't checked how much space the game takes up, but in order to play offline you'd have to download more.

Secondly, if they did set the game up to let you play offline, there would be no way to limit that to maintenance times.
Players who just wanted to grind play PvE risk free could and would just disconnect their internet to get the unable to connect status.

Thirdly, say did let you play offline, next time you go online, either you're going to lose all your progress or they have to devote resources into changing how your progress works, making client-side. If they make it client side, people will can hack it much easier.

  • I got to an outpost 5 minutes before the server shut down, after defeating a skull fort with 3 random players, and we managed to turn in the last of our loot seconds after our ship sunk...

  • When is this back online?
